THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION FOR THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH, 2023 TO ORDER FROM ROLL CALL COUNCIL MEMBER SUTTON.[3.1. Community Survey Results (Allison Strupeck)]
THREE ONE COMMUNITY SURVEY RESULTS.YOU GUYS CUT OUT THERE FOR A SECOND, SO I JUST DIDN'T WANNA TALK OVER ANYBODY.
HE, HE'S A LONG WAY AWAY FROM THE MICROPHONE.
UH, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING ME, HAVING ME, UH, I LOOK FORWARD TO BEING DOWN THERE, UH, SHORTLY, UH, TO BE THERE IN PERSON TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AFTER THIS AND TALK ABOUT IT.
BUT MY NAME IS ESTHER CAMPBELL.
I'M THE PROJECT MANAGER WITH E TC INSTITUTE, AND WE, UM, WE CONDUCTED YOUR CITY SERVICES AND CULTURE SURVEY.
UM, I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT, UM, THERE WERE TWO PARTS OF THE SURVEY.
WE WERE, UH, WE HAD A, A RESIDENT SATISFACTION PART, BUT THEN WE ALSO HAD A, FOR DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PURPOSES.
UM, AND IT IS MY, UH, UNDERSTANDING THAT YOUR COMMISSION DID TALK TO YOU ALL ABOUT THAT.
UM, HOWEVER, I JUST WANNA LET YOU KNOW THAT I KNOW HOW THAT, HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS TO YOU ALL.
AND SO, UH, WHENEVER I COME DOWN THERE, UH, IN PERSON, I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS OR GO OVER ANY OF THAT.
UM, FOR, BUT FOR TODAY, I REALLY WANNA GO OVER, UH, HOW THE, HOW RESIDENTS RATED CITY SERVICES FOR HUK.
UM, QUICKLY, UM, SINCE WE ARE NEW TO HATO, TEXAS, UM, I, THAT MEANS E T C, I JUST WANNA KIND OF GO OVER A QUICK OVERVIEW OF, UH, WHO WE ARE.
THEN, UH, I WANT YOU ALL TO UNDERSTAND OUR SURVEY PURPOSE AND METHODOLOGY, UH, GO OVER SOME PERCEPTIONS AND THEN THE SURVEY FINDINGS.
AND THEN THROUGHOUT THE SURVEY FINDINGS, I'LL POINT OUT WHERE, UH, RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NEXT STEPS ARE.
SO, E TC INSTITUTE, WE, WE'VE BEEN AROUND FOR 40 YEARS, AND OUR MAIN OFFICE IS LOCATED IN OLATHE, KANSAS, WHICH IS A SUBURB RIGHT OUTSIDE OF KANSAS CITY.
UM, WE SPECIALIZE IN, UH, WE SPECIALIZE IN THE DESIGN AND ADMINISTRATION OF MARKET RESEARCH FOR GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS.
AND OUR MAJOR AREAS OF EMPHASIS INCLUDES INCLUDE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEYS.
WE DO COMMUNITY PLANNING SURVEYS, EMPLOYEE SURVEYS, VOTER OPINION SURVEYS, PARK PARKS AND RECREATION NEEDS ASSESSMENTS, ONBOARD TRANSIT SURVEYS.
WE ALSO DO, UH, INTERNAL AND STAKEHOLDER, UH, FOCUS GROUPS AS WELL.
BUT ULTIMATELY, OUR MISSION IS TO USE STATISTICALLY VALID DATA TO HELP ORGANIZATIONS MAKE DA DATA-DRIVEN DECISIONS.
UM, AND OUR CLIENTS SPAN ACROSS THE UNITED STATES FROM MAINE TO CALIFORNIA, AND WE ACTUALLY, UH, HAVE A HISTORY WITH TEXAS.
UM, WE HAVE CONDUCTED MANY COMMUNITY SURVEYS, UM, ALL ACROSS THE STATE FOR NEARLY 10, NEARLY 20 YEARS.
UM, AND THIS IS JUST A LIST OF FOLKS THAT WE HAVE TAKEN OR WE HAVE CONDUCTED COMMUNITY SURVEYS FOR SINCE, UH, 2015.
UM, I'LL POINT OUT A COUPLE THAT ARE NEARBY YOU ALL.
UH, WE HAVE AUSTIN PFLUGERVILLE ROUND ROCK, UM, AND THEN THERE'S, UH, KIL, WE'RE ABOUT TO CONDUCT KILL TEXAS, UM, UH, UH, SURVEY TOO.
UM, SO WE HAVE A LONG HISTORY, UH, WITH TEXAS AND WE LOVE OUR, WE LOVE OUR TEXAS CLIENTS.
BUT I JUST WANT TO QUICKLY POINT OUT, YOU'LL, YOU'LL SEE HERE THAT MANY OF OUR CLIENTS, UM, WE'VE CONDUCTED MULTIPLE SURVEYS.
AND THIS IS JUST FOR COMMUNITY SURVEYS.
THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE PROX REC NEEDS ASSESSMENTS, BUT IT'S VERY COMMON FOR OUR CLIENTS TO TAKE, UH, A SURVEY EVERY TWO YEARS WITH US AND A SURVEY PURPOSE.
UM, SO THE, BASICALLY THE PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY.
UM, SO WE WANTED TO, UH, SET, GET SOME DIVERSITY INCLUSION QUESTIONS, BUT WE ALSO WANTED TO GATHER INFORMATION ABOUT RESIDENTS LEVEL SET, UH, LEVEL OF SATISFACTION WITH CITY SERVICES AND ALSO TOGETHER RESIDENTS OPINIONS REGARDING OTHER TOPICS AS WELL.
SO, DATA COLLECTED, UH, WAS, UH, WHAT WAS COLLECTED DURING THE SUMMER OF 2022.
UM, IT, THE SURVEY INSTRUMENT WAS A COVER LETTER, WHICH WAS ON CITY LETTERHEAD, AND THEN HAD A SE A SEVEN PAGE SURVEY WITH THE QUESTIONS.
UH, WE SELECT, WE SELECTED A RANDOM, UH, SO WE HAD ALL ADDRESS, ALL HUDDLE ADDRESSES, AND WE SELECTED A RANDOM, UH, 4,000 HOUSEHOLDS TO MAIL.
UM, AND THESE HOUSEHOLDS COULD TAKE THE SURVEY BY MAIL ONLINE, OR THEY COULD CALL US IF THEY NEEDED, UH, TO TAKE IT OVER THE PHONE, WHETHER IT WAS BECAUSE THEY NEED A TRANSLATOR OR, UH, IT WAS JUST EASIER FOR THEM TO, UM, TO TAKE IT JUST TO, FOR US TO READ IT TO THEM AND TAKE IT OVER THE PHONE.
UM, TO ENSURE THAT THE RANDOM SAMPLE, UM, WAS TO, TO ENSURE THAT SURVEYS WERE FROM THE RANDOM SAMPLE.
WE HAD VERIFICATION AT THE END.
SO OBVIOUSLY IF THEY MAILED IT BACK, WE KNOW
[00:05:01]
THAT THAT IS A RESIDENT THAT IS A RANDOM SAMPLE RESIDENT.HOWEVER, UM, FOLKS THAT WOULD GO ONLINE AND TAKE THE SURVEY, WE HAD A, UM, UH, WE HAD THE, A QUESTION ABOUT THEIR ADDRESS AT THE END, AND WE WOULD VERIFY THAT THOSE FOLKS WERE INDEED, IN OUR RANDOM SAMPLE, WE COLLECTED 401, UH, SURVEYS.
THAT GIVES US A PLUS OR MINUS 4.1% AT THE 95% LEVEL OF CONFIDENCE.
SO THIS IS A REALLY GREAT MARGIN OF ERROR.
THIS IS A VERY TYPICAL, UH, FIRST, UH, FOR A STATISTICALLY VALID SURVEY, UH, TOTAL THAT WE WOULD GET.
AND, UH, FOR, FOR WHAT THAT MEANS, UH, NOT TO GIVE US A STATS LESSON AT SIX O'CLOCK, UH, ON, UH, ON THURSDAY EVENING.
BUT WHAT THAT MEANS IS, UH, UH, THAT IF WE WERE TO TAKE THE SURVEY AGAIN A HUNDRED TIMES, WE WOULD GET THE SAME RESULTS 95 TIMES WITH THAT PLUS OR MINUS 4.8% VARIANCE.
I'D MENTIONED EAR EARLIER THAT OUR HEART REALLY IS TO GET STATISTICALLY VALID DATA TO SO THAT YOU ALL CAN MAKE DATA-DRIVEN DECISIONS.
AND SO WHAT DOES STATISTICALLY THE VALIDITY MEAN? BASICALLY THAT, WHAT THAT MEANS IS THAT WE WANNA ENSURE THAT WE'RE GETTING A REPRESENTATION OF THE STUDY AREA, AND WE DO, WE DO THAT BY FOLLOWING THE US CENSUS DATA FOR HETERO TEXAS.
SO IT'S NOT JUST THE NATIONAL NUMBERS, IT'S FOR SPECIFICALLY YOUR, YOUR CITY.
UM, AND SO WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT, UM, YOU ALL ARE GOING TO HEAR FROM THE PEOPLE THAT ARE VERY COMFORTABLE TO CALL YOU OR TALK TO YOU.
UM, BUT WE WANNA GET IN AND, AND THEIR AND THEIR OPINIONS AND THEIR, THEIR OPINIONS MATTER AND ARE VALUABLE.
HOWEVER, WE WANNA MAKE SH SOMETIMES IT'S NOT THE WHOLE CONSISTENT CONSENSUS OF THE CITY.
SO WE WANNA ENSURE THAT, UH, WE ARE HEARING ABOUT FROM EVERYBODY, UM, AND HOW WE GO ABOUT THAT AS WE LOOK AT, WE MAKE SURE THAT THE GENDER MATCHES.
UM, SO, UH, THE RED BAR AT TOP ON, ON THE TOP, THIS IS WHAT WE, WHAT WE COLLECTED FROM THE SURVEY, THE BLUE BAR ON THE BOTTOM.
THIS IS HOW TO, THIS IS YOUR US CENSUS NUMBERS, SO WE ENSURE, SO WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE GETTING THE EXACT PERCENTAGE OR, UH, IN, IN THAT MARGIN OF ERROR TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE LINING UP TO YOUR REPRESENTATION WITH INCOME.
WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT ALL INCOME BRACKETS ARE REPRESENTATIVES.
SO AS YOU SEE HERE, THIS IS WHAT WE COLLECTED IN YOUR SURVEY.
THERE'S A REALLY GREAT, UM, UH, REALLY GREAT PERCENTAGE AROUND WITH OUR, UM, UH, INCOME AND THE MEDIAN.
A THE MEDIAN AGE, MEDIUM INCOME, UH, IS SE IS IN BETWE IS 78,000, 79,000 IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY.
SO WE REALLY HAVE A GREAT REPRESENTATION THERE.
WE ALSO LOOK AT RACE AND ETHNICITY.
SO WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE GETTING REPRESENTATION FROM ALL RACES AND ETHNICITIES THAT ARE REPRESENTATIVE IN HUK.
AND AS YOU SEE HERE, IT'S THE SAME THING.
THE RED IS THE SURVEY, THE BLUE IS THE US CENSUS NUMBERS, AND REALLY JUST LINE UP REALLY PERFECTLY.
SO WE'RE, UH, THESE RESULTS THAT YOU'LL BE SEEING ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF HUK.
UH, WE ASK THE QUESTION, HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU LIVED IN HUO? AGAIN, WE HAVE REALLY GREAT REPRESENTATION OF THE YEARS.
SO 26% OF THE FOLKS THAT RESPONDED TO THE SURVEY HAVE BEEN THERE LESS THAN FIVE YEARS, 29%, UH, BETWEEN, UH, BEEN THERE, UH, FOR SIX, BETWEEN SIX AND 10 YEARS, AND THEN, UH, 31%, 11 TO 20, AND THEN 14%, 20 PLUS YEARS.
SO REALLY GREAT REPRESENTATION FOR THAT.
WE ALSO LOOKED AT HOUSEHOLD TYPE.
UM, SO THIS IS, UH, DO YOU, HOW, HOW MANY, HOW MANY FOLKS OR HOW MANY, UH, CHILDREN UNDER AGE, UH, 10 THAT YOU HAVE LIVING WITH YOU.
SO WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ALSO REPRESENTING, UH, SINCE FOLKS, UM, 18 AND OLDER CAN TAKE THE SURVEY, WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT ALL HOUSEHOLD TYPES ARE REPRESENTED IN THIS AS WELL.
AND NOT JUST DEMOGRAPHICS, BUT WE ALSO WANNA MAKE SURE THAT, UH, WE'RE NOT JUST GETTING THE SOUTH SIDE HUDDLES OPINION AND NOT, AND EXCLUDE THE NORTH SIDE.
SO WHAT YOU'LL SEE HERE IS THIS IS A GIS MAP, AND THESE LITTLE RED DOTS HERE REPRESENT A COMPLETED SURVEY.
SO AS YOU SEE HERE, WE HAVE REALLY GREAT REPRESE REPRESENTATION, UM, BETWEEN NORTH AND SOUTH HU AND EAST AND WEST AS WELL.
UH, WE'RE GONNA GO OVER THE SURVEY FINDINGS.
AND FIRST I JUST WANNA GIVE US A LITTLE OVERVIEW ABOUT PERCEPTIONS.
SO THIS IS HOW, UM, RESIDENTS PERCEIVE HUK.
UM, AND I HOPE THIS DOESN'T COME TO A SURPRISE.
I HOPE YOU ALREADY KNOW THIS, WHICH, UH, UH, SO 81%, PRETTY MUCH NEARLY EVERYBODY THINKS HUK IS AN EXCELLENT OR GOOD PLACE TO LIVE.
UM, 78% THINK THAT HUK IS AN EXCELLENT OR GOOD PLACE TO RAISE CHILDREN.
AND AS YOU ALL ALREADY KNOW, YOU ALL ARE ATTRACTING THOSE YOUNGER FAMILIES.
UM, AND THAT REALLY, UH, THAT REALLY CAN BE A KEY REASON WHY FOLKS ARE COMING TO HU.
71% OF RESIDENTS THINK THAT THE CITY PROVIDES A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR RESIDENTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS.
I THINK THAT ALSO ATTESTS, UH, JUST TO OVERALL THE CITY, HOW THEY WELCOME EVERYBODY, BUT THEN ALSO THE POLICE.
UM, AND THEN HOW THE CITY PRESI PROVIDES ALL THE CITY SERVICES TO THEM.
[00:10:01]
LIKELY RECOMMEND HU AS A PLACE TO LIVE.SO THAT THESE ARE REALLY GREAT NUMBERS.
I'M SURE YOU'RE NOT SURPRISED.
UM, AND WE'RE GONNA GET INTO MORE OF THE DETAILS OF WHY THEY, WHY THEY LOVE LIVING THERE AND WHERE WE CAN IMPROVE.
BUT FIRST I WANNA SHOW YOU, SO, UH, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE BECAUSE, UH, YOU KNOW, IF I, IF I TELL YOU THAT AS A PLACE TO LIVE, 81%, IS THAT GOOD OR BAD? UM, YOU KNOW, IT SOUNDS GOOD, BUT YOU KNOW, THE NATIONAL PERCENT COULD BE A HUNDRED PERCENT.
SO THEN WE, OKAY, WE HAVE SOME WORK TO DO, SO WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN BENCHMARK TO SEE, WELL, WHERE DO WE STACK UP WITH, UH, TEXAS COMMUNITIES OR NATIONAL AVERAGE? UM, SO, UH, US AT E T C INSTITUTE, WE CONDUCT AN ANNUAL NATIONAL COMMUNITY SURVEY.
UM, SO THE NUMBERS THAT YOU'RE SEEING HERE ARE, ARE OUR OWN NUMBERS THAT WE'VE CONDUCTED FOR OUR COMMUNITY SURVEY, OUR NATIONAL, UM, AND WE'RE ABLE TO THEN BREAK IT UP TO SEE, WELL, HOW DO YOU STACK UP WITH THE TEXAS AVERAGE AND THE NATIONAL AVERAGE? SO YOU ARE THE TOP BAR, THIS IS WHAT YOUR SCORE WAS.
THE MIDDLE BLUE BAR IS THE TEXAS AVERAGE, AND THEN THE RED, UH, THIRD BAR IS THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.
SO AS YOU SEE HERE, YOU GUYS ARE JUST KILLING IT AND KICKING BUTT IN AS A PLACE TO LIVE AND AS A PLACE TO RAISE CHILDREN COMPARED TO THE, UM, TEXAS AVERAGE IN NATIONAL AVERAGE.
UM, AND THEN, UH, YOU'RE RIGHT ON THE HEELS OF THE TEXAS AVERAGE AND NATIONAL AVERAGE WITH THE OVERALL VALUE RECEIVED FOR CITY TAXES AND FEES.
UM, AND THEN WHERE WE SEE SOME OPPORTUNITIES, HOW WELL THE CITY IS MANAGING GROWTH, UM, YOU'RE, UH, 16% BELOW THE, UM, UH, THE, UH, UH, NATIONAL AVERAGE.
SO I'M GONNA GO THROUGH SOME MAJOR SURVEY FINDINGS.
FIRST, WE'RE GONNA LOOK AT THE MAJOR CATEGORIES OF CITY SERVICES.
UM, SO, UH, THIS IS AGAIN, THE BENCHMARKING CHART.
UM, YOU ARE THE TOP BAR, UM, TEXAS IS THE MIDDLE, AND THEN NATIONAL AVERAGE IS THE BOTTOM.
AND THAT'S GONNA BE WHAT IT IS THROUGHOUT THE HER PRESENTATION.
BUT WHAT WHAT WE'RE SEEING HERE IS THIS IS THE SUM OF VERY SATISFIED AND SATISFIED RESPONSES.
AND WE SEE HERE THAT YOU, UH, REALLY SCORED EXCELLENT IN THE SOLID WASTE SERVICES.
SO THOSE FOLKS THAT, UM, ARE PROVIDING THOSE SERVICES, UM, UH, THAT YOU HAVE HIRED TO DO THAT, UM, THEY'RE, THE RESIDENTS ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THAT QUALITY OF, UH, CITY LIBRARY SERVICES REALLY DOING A GREAT JOB THERE.
FOLKS ARE PLEASED, 70% ARE SATISFIED.
UM, AND THAT IS OVER THE NATIONAL AND UH, ALSO THE TEXAS AVERAGE.
UM, WHAT I ALSO WANTED TO POINT OUT TOO, BECAUSE, UH, I KNOW THAT MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE OF CITY STREETS, I KNOW IT MIGHT COME NOT COME TO A SURPRISE TO YOU, BUT THAT IS SOMETHING THAT IS IMPORTANT.
UM, BUT I DID WANNA POINT OUT THAT 37% OF RESIDENTS ARE SATISFIED WITH, UM, THE MAINTENANCE OF CITY STREETS.
UM, AND I WANTED YOU TO SEE, WELL, COMPARED TO TEXAS COMMUNITIES, YOU'RE ACTUALLY MUCH HIGHER.
SO YOU'RE, YOU'RE 11% HIGHER THAN TEXAS COMMUNITIES, AND YOU'RE RIGHT ON THE HEELS OF THE, OF THE NATIONAL AVERAGE, UM, AND SATISFACTION.
AND SAME WITH MAINTENANCE OF SIDEWALKS.
YOU ARE LOWER THAN, UH, THE TEXAS COMMU, OR I'M THE TEXAS COMMUNITIES, BUT NATIONALLY, UM, YOU KNOW, YOU'RE 11% LOWER, SO YOU'RE NOT OUT OF THE GAME.
UH, BUT I JUST WANTED YOU GUYS TO SEE THAT.
CAUSE I KNOW THAT IS, UH, THOSE, THOSE ARE, UH, IN MANY COMMUNITIES, THOSE ARE THE TOP ONES THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO US.
UM, AND AS YOU ALL ARE AWARE AND KNOW THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, UM, THE BOTTOM TWO, UH, THIS IS WHERE WE HAVE OPPORTUNITY.
AND SO, UH, WITH THE QUESTION OF SATISFACTION, WE THEN ASKED, WELL, HOW IMPORTANT ARE THESE THINGS TO YOU? UM, SO IF YOU LOOK HERE, THESE ARE JUST, UH, THE SIX, THE TOP SIX THAT I PULLED OUT.
UM, AND EACH OF THESE DIFFERENT COLORS, UH, THE GRAY IS THE FIRST CHOICE, YELLOW IS THE SECOND, BLUE IS THE THIRD CHOICE, AND THEN THE RED IS THE FOURTH CHOICE.
AND WHAT WE SEE HERE IS THAT 67% OF RESIDENTS SAY THAT THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON MAJOR ROADS AND HIGHWAYS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT, FOLLOWED BY THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON CITY STREETS, 50, UH, 60%.
AND THEN THE MAINTENANCE OF CITY STREETS ARE 46%.
UM, SO THAT'S WHERE WE SEE THAT THESE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT FOR RESIDENTS RIGHT NOW.
BUT I WANNA SHOW YOU A REALLY GREAT TOOL THAT WE USE WITH ALL OF OUR CLIENTS, UM, FOR COMMUNITY SURVEYS.
THIS IS WHAT WE CALL THE IMPORTANT SATISFACTION ANALYSIS.
AND WHAT THIS DOES IS THIS, UH, WE CAN SEE, WELL, THIS IS, WE PUT, WE RANKED THE IMPORTANCE, THE SERVICE, THE SERVICES THAT ARE MOST, THAT ARE IMPORTANT, AND THEN, UH, THE HOW SATISFIED POKES ARE.
AND THIS GIVES US, UH, PRIORITIES.
UM, THIS REALLY COMES IN HANDY WHEN I, I JUST GIVE YOU A WHOLE BUNCH OF INFORMATION.
OKAY, WELL, WHAT DO I DO WITH IT NOW? SO THIS IS WHERE WE CAN SEE, UH, WE HAVE VERY HIGH PRIORITY HERE AT THE TOP, NO, NO, UH, UH, NO SURPRISE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND MAINTENANCE OF CITY STREETS.
THIS MEANS THAT, UH, YOU KNOW, THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE PLACING THE MOST EMPHASIS ON, FOLLOWED BY THE HIGH PRIORITY.
UM, THIS JUST MEANS THAT, UM, THAT WE NEED TO PLACE A LITTLE BIT MORE EMPHASIS ON.
AND THEN WE HAVE, HAVE A MEDIUM PRIORITY DOWN HERE.
THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU, UH, THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT THESE ARE NOT IMPORTANT, NOT UNIMPORTANT SERVICES.
IT JUST MEANS THAT YOU'RE DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB AND IT'S
[00:15:01]
JUST NOT IMPORTANT TO RESIDENTS RIGHT NOW.CUZ IF YOU LOOK OVER TO, LET'S LOOK AT MEDIUM PRIORITY.
LET'S LOOK AT THE FIRST CITY EVENTS AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS. 51% OF RESIDENTS ARE SATISFIED WITH, UM, WITH THE RECREATIONAL EVENTS, EVENTS AND RECREATION PROGRAMS. AND 17% OF FOLKS SAY THAT THAT'S IMPORTANT TO THEM.
WELL, SO IF YOU LOOK AT FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON SO VERY TOP, VERY HIGH PRIORITY FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON MAJOR ROADS AND HIGHWAYS, WE SEE THAT 17% OF RESIDENTS ARE SATISFIED, AND 67% SAY THAT IT'S IMPORTANT.
SO THOSE THAT HAVE A HIGH HIGHER IMPORTANCE AND A LOWER SATISFACTION ARE GONNA BE TO THE TOP.
AND THIS HELPS US TO PRIORITIZE THINGS.
I WILL, I WILL SAY THAT, UH, I'VE ALREADY MET WITH, UH, ALL DEPARTMENTS, UM, REGARDING THEIR, THEIR, UM, UH, THEIR FINDINGS FROM THE SURVEY.
THEY'VE ALREADY STARTED TO PRIORITIZE THINGS AND, UH, ALREADY TAKE ACTION.
UH, THEY'RE ACT THEY ACTUALLY WERE ON TOP OF IT WHENEVER I PRESENTED IT TO THEM.
THEY ARE ACTUALLY, WERE ALREADY, UH, GETTING, THEY WERE ACTUALLY ALREADY DOING STUFF AND I IMPLEMENT IMPLEMENTING THINGS AS WELL.
UM, SO I JUST WANNA, YOU KNOW, GIVE THEM A PAT ON THE BACK, UM, AND SAY THAT, UH, THEY HAVE A GOOD, UH, FINGER ON THE PULSE FOR WHAT'S GOING ON.
SO THIS IS A REALLY HELPFUL TOOL TO PRIORITIZE BUDGETING, UM, WHERE YOU CAN SAY, OKAY, WELL, THIS IS IMPORTANT.
UM, THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO FOCUS ON RIGHT NOW COMPARED TO THIS OTHER THING.
SO IT REALLY COMES IN HANDY WITH ALL OF OUR, UH, CLIENTS ALSO.
IT'S A REALLY GREAT WAY TO, UH, SEE HOW, HOW WE'VE IMPROVED, UM, OVER TIME TOO.
NEXT, WATER AND UTILITY SERVICES.
UH, YOU KNOW, SOME, A LOT OF GOOD HERE, YOU KNOW, TRASH, GARBAGE COLLECTION SERVICES.
I KNOW THESE THINGS THAT YOU DON'T, UH, THAT YOU DON'T DIRECTLY OVER, UH, DIRECTLY OVERSEE, BUT YOU HIRE SOMEONE TO DO THAT, THEY'RE DOING A REALLY GREAT JOB.
UH, WHERE WE SEE SOME, UH, ON THE HEELS OF THE NATIONAL AVERAGE, IF YOU LOOK DOWN HERE, UM, FEES FOR WATER SERVICES, YOU'RE RIGHT ON THE HEELS OF THE NATIONAL AVERAGE, FOLLOWED BY FEES FOR WATER, UH, WASTEWATER AND SANITARY SEWER SERVICES.
UM, AND AGAIN, THIS IS, UH, THE SA VERY SATISFIED AND SATISFIED PERCENTAGE.
NEXT, UH, MOST IMPORTANT WATER AND UTILITY SERVICES TO RESIDENTS.
SOME AGAIN, FIRST CHOICE, UH, SECOND CH FIRST CHOICE IS GRAY, SECOND CHOICE IS YELLOW, AND THEN BLUE IS THE THIRD CHOICE.
WE SEE THAT FEES FOR WATER SERVICES AND TASTE OF TACK WATER.
AND THEN FEES FOR WASTEWATER, SANITARY SEWER SERVICES ARE THE TOP THREE MOST IMPORTANT.
UM, WE DID ASK THE QUESTION ABOUT, UH, UH, WHAT, WHAT WATER SERVICE PROVIDER FOLKS HAVE.
SO I BROKE THIS OUT INTO, UM, 61% OF RESPONDENTS, UH, HAVE YOU THE CITY AS THEIR PROVIDER.
UM, 24% SAID MANVILLE WATER SUPPLY CORPORATION IS, UH, THEIR PROVIDER.
AND THEN 15% SAID, JONAH SPECIAL UTILITY DISTRICT IS.
SO THIS IS WHERE WE SEE JUST THE LEVEL OF DISSATISFACTION WITH THE WATER, WASTE WATER AND SANITARY SEWER FEES.
UM, WE SEE HERE THAT, UH, SO, UH, THOSE FOLKS, UM, UH, THAT, OOPS, SORRY GUYS.
SO, UH, WE JUST SEE HERE THAT THE LEVEL OF SATISFACTION FOR WATER WASTEWATER AND SEWER SEWER FEES, UH, FOR THE CITY OF HU IS 56%.
UM, AND I'M SORRY, THIS IS, UH, THE, THE RED IS, UH, VERY DISSATISFIED.
THE, THE PINKISH, UH, IS DISSATISFIED.
UH, I'M GONNA HAVE TO CORRECT THAT FOR YOU GUYS.
UM, SO IMPORTANT SATISFACTION ANALYSIS FOR US, UH, FOR THE WASTE UTILITY SERVICES.
AGAIN, I KNOW THAT, UH, SOME OF THIS YOU DON'T HAVE MUCH CONTROL OVER EXCEPT HIRING THE VENDOR.
YOU WILL NOTICE THAT DOWN AT THE BOTTOM, UH, THOSE FOLKS THAT YOU DO HIRE FOR THE VENDOR, UH, IS DOWN BELOW.
UH, THEY'RE DOING A REALLY GREAT JOB AND FOLKS ARE VERY SATISFIED WITH THEM.
WHERE WE SEE THAT VERY HIGH PRIORITIES, THE FEES FOR WATER SERVICES, FEES FOR WASTEWATER AND SANITARY SEWERS SERVICES, AND THEN ALSO THE TASTE OF TAP WATER.
AND WE SEE HERE THAT THERE'S, UM, ABOUT ONE THIRD, UM, A LITTLE MORE THAN ONE THIRD ARE SATISFIED IN THOSE.
UH, BUT WE SEE THAT THOSE ARE THE MOST SAT, UH, MOST IMPORTANT TO OUR RESIDENTS, FOLLOWED BY MAINTENANCE SERVICES, UH, CONDITION OF STREET SIGNS.
AND REALLY, IF YOU SEE HERE, SO THIS, AGAIN, YOU'RE THE TOP BAR, UH, YOU'RE ACTUALLY EXCEED THE TEXAS AVERAGE IN EACH ONE OF THESE CATEGORIES.
UH, WHOEVER OVERSEES, UH, WHOEVER OVERSEES MAINTENANCE AND DOES MAINTENANCE OUT THERE, REALLY GREAT JOB ON THE STREET SIGNS, KEEPING UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE ON CITY BUILDINGS, FACILITIES, AND THE CLEANLINESS OF STREETS, UH, AND SIDEWALKS IN THE MAJOR PARTS OF THE CITY, AND THEN ALSO IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS.
MOST IMPORTANT, THIS IS JUST THE TOP THREE THAT I WANTED TO POINT OUT.
UM, AND WE SEE THAT CONDITION OF STREETS AND SIDEWALKS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, IF YOU SEE HERE, UH, SO THEY HAD, THEY COULD CHOOSE TWO.
[00:20:01]
THAT THIS TOP ONE, UH, IF YOU LOOK AT THE GRAY, SO THIS IS THEIR FIRST CHOICE, UH, OVER 50%.SO PROBABLY ABOUT 53, 50 4% OF RESIDENTS SENT PICK THAT AS THEIR TOP FIRST CHOICE OVERALL, UH, WITH US.
UM, 70% OR 69% OF FOLKS SAY THAT THAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO THEM, FOLLOWED BY THE CLEANLINESS OF STREETS, SIDEWALKS, AND THEN ALSO THE CONDITION OF PAVEMENT MARKINGS ON THEIR STREETS.
AND NEXT, UH, WE GET INTO THE MAINTENANCE SERVICES IS TABLE.
UH, AND WE SEE HERE THAT RIGHT NOW VERY HIGH PRIORITIES, THE CONDITION OF STREETS AND SIDEWALKS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
AND THAT'S BECAUSE THAT IT IS EXTREMELY, UH, COMPARED TO THE REST, IT DOES HAVE A VERY HIGH IMPORTANCE PERCENTAGE FOR RESIDENTS.
UM, AND THEN IT IS THE LOWEST SATISFIED, UM, 58%.
SO WHAT WE HOPE TO SEE IS THAT OVER TIME, AS YOU ALL ARE, AS THE, AS YOU AND THE CITY ARE FOCUSING ON THESE THINGS, WE'LL SEE THIS THING THEN LOWER INTO, UH, IT'LL BE A VERY HIGH PRIORITY THAN A HIGH PRIORITY.
AND THEN DOWN INTO THE MEDIUM PRIORITY.
AND THEN, UH, NEXT WE'RE GONNA LOOK AT POLICE SERVICES.
UH, REALLY GREAT JOB, UM, WITH OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT HERE.
UH, YOU'RE THE TOP BAR, MIDDLE BAR'S, TEXAS AVERAGE, AND THEN THE RED IS THE, UH, RED BAR, OR THE RED IS THE NATIONAL AVERAGE, I'M SORRY, BUT YOU, UH, YOU ALL THE CITY, YOU ALL ARE OVER EVERY CATEGORY IN THIS.
UM, SO I JUST WANNA SAY THAT IS JUST REALLY AMAZING, ESPECIALLY JUST WITH WHAT WE'VE SEEN OVER THE NATION, IN THE NATION OVER THE PAST COUPLE YEARS.
THIS IS REALLY JUST TREMENDOUS.
UM, UH, AND THIS IS, UH, UH, IN MY, IN MY WORK, UH, WE'VE ACTUALLY SEEN A NATIONAL DECLINE IN SATISFACTION IN POLICE SERVICES, UM, OVERALL POLICE SERVICE, THE SERVICES, AND ALSO, UM, VISIBILITY OF POLICE AND NEIGHBORHOODS, UM, OR COMMERCIAL RETAIL AREAS.
SO IT'S REALLY COOL TO SEE THAT YOU ALL, UH, HAVE THESE NUMBERS COMPARED TO THE REGIONAL AND NATIONAL LEVEL.
AND THEN WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT TO SERVICE, UH, FOR POLICE SERVICES TO RESIDENTS.
WE SEE THAT VISIBILITY OF POLICE AND NEIGHBORHOODS AND THEN EFFORTS BY POLICE TO PREVENT CRIME, OR THE TOP TWO, WE SEE ABOUT 45% OF RESIDENTS SAY THAT THAT IS TRUE.
HOWEVER, THESE, THESE TWO ARE VERY CORRELATED TOGETHER.
IF FOLKS SEE POLICE OUT IN NEIGHBORHOODS, UM, THEY'RE GONNA SEE THAT, OKAY, THEY'RE, THEY'RE, THE POLICE ARE MAKING AN EFFORT TO PREVENT CRIME.
UM, THIS VISIBILITY IN POLI OF POLICE IN NEIGHBORHOODS, UH, THIS, UH, USED TO NOT BE AT THE VERY TOP, UH, BUT IT HASN'T BEEN IN, UH, SINCE, UH, FOLKS WERE QUARANTINED THAT WE'VE SEEN THIS FLY UP.
AND PEOPLE THAT HA UH, DO REMOTE WORK FROM HOME, SINCE THEY ARE HOME, THEY'RE ABLE TO RECCO, THEY'RE ABLE TO, UM, STOP AND NOTICE THINGS.
WHEREAS WHEN THEY WORKED, UH, WORKED AT OUT OF THE, OUT OF HOME AND IN AN OFFICE, THEY DIDN'T NOTICE THOSE THINGS WERE HAPPENING.
SO THEY'RE, THEY'RE JUST NOTICING THOSE LITTLE THINGS THAT THEY WOULDN'T HAVE BEFORE.
SO WHAT WE SEE IN THIS IMPORTANT SATISFACTION ANALYSIS, WHAT WE SEE A VERY HIGH PRIORITY IS THE VISIBILITY OF POLICE AND NEIGHBORHOODS, AND THEN POLICE IN COMMERCIAL AND RETAIL AREAS, AND THEN THE EFFORTS BY POLICE TO PREVENT CRIME.
THOSE ARE HIGH PRIORITIES, BUT THE MEDIAN PRI THEY HAVE MEDIUM PRIORITIES.
SO WE JUST LIKE TO SAY, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
FOLKS ARE VERY, EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THAT AND SATISFIED.
UM, AND IT'S JUST A LOWER, IT'S LOWER IN IMPORTANCE THAN COMPARED TO THE OTHER THINGS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO RESIDENTS, COMMUNICATION SERVICES.
UM, SO REALLY GREAT JOB HERE WITH THE COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT.
UH, SO, UH, AGAIN, YOU'RE THE TOP.
UM, SO YOU ARE RIGHT ON, I MEAN, JUST RIGHT ON THE HEELS, IF NOT OVER, UH, THE, UM, UH, REGIONAL AND NATIONAL AVERAGE FOR THE AVAILABILITY OF INFORMATION, USEFULNESS OF YOUR WEBSITE, UH, USE OF, UH, OFFICIAL CITY SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS, AND THEN ALSO THE CITY'S EFFORTS TO KEEP RESIDENTS INFORMED ABOUT LOCAL ISSUES.
YOU ALL REALLY DO DO A FANTASTIC JOB, AND THE RESIDENTS ARE SAYING, THE RESIDENTS ARE SAYING THAT, AND THEN IT'S EVEN AFFIRMED WHENEVER WE COMPARE TO THAT, TO THEIR REGIONAL AND NATIONAL AVERAGE.
SO REALLY GREAT JOB COMMUNICATION.
UM, AND THEN WE SEE THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT COMMUNICATION SERVICES TO RESIDENTS IS GONNA BE THE EFFORTS TO KEEP CITY, UH, KEEP RESIDENTS INFORMED ABOUT LOCAL ISSUES, 71%, AND THEN THE AVAILABILITY OF, UH, INFORMATION ABOUT CITY SERVICES AND PROGRAMS. 60, UH, 68%.
UM, SO THIS JUST MAKING SURE THAT THE CITY'S, UH, KEEP MAKING EFFORTS AND THEN ALSO THE MAKING IT AVAILABLE, UH, FOR RESIDENTS, UM, TO, UH, TO ACCESS, OR THEY KNOW WHERE TO FIND, FIND THAT INFORMATION.
SO WE, WE WANTED TO ASK, UH, WELL, WHAT IS THE MOST FOUR RESIDENTS? WHAT WOULD BE YOUR MOST PREFERRED INFORMATION SOURCES TO USE? UM, AND SO THIS IS THE TOP THREE, UH, OR TOP FOUR, I'M SORRY.
THEY COULD CHOOSE THEIR TOP THREE, UM, UH, INFORMATION SOURCES THAT THEY MOST PREFER TO USE.
AND WE SEE THAT, UH, 58% SAY THAT THEY, UH, PREFER TO USE THE COMMUNITY IMPACT NEWS NEWSPAPER TO, UH, EITHER SEE INFORMATION ABOUT CITY SERVICES, EVENTS, PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES GOING AROUND AND GOING ON IN THE CITY, FOLLOWED BY THE CITY'S WEBSITE, CITY, UH, ENEWSLETTER, HEY HUK, AND THEN ALSO
[00:25:01]
THE CITY OFFICIAL FACEBOOK.AND THEN, SO, UH, FOR COMMUNICATION, OUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PRIORITIES, UM, UH, JUST YOUR CITY EFFORTS TO KEEP RESIDENTS INFORMED ABOUT LOCAL ISSUES.
UM, AVAILABILITY OF INFORMATION ABOUT CITY SERVICES AND PROGRAMS, AND THEN THE USEFULNESS OF THE CITY'S WEBSITE.
THOSE ARE GONNA BE TOP HIGH PRIORITY.
UM, AND THEN THE HIGH PRIORITY.
SO NEXT, UH, WE NEED A LITTLE BIT OF EFFORT, MORE EFFORT IN, IT'S JUST THE CITY'S USE OF, UH, CITY SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS.
UM, AND THEN THE MEDIUM PRIORITIES, USEFULNESS OF THE EVE NEWSLETTER, AND THEN ALSO HOW THE CITY USES VIDEOS, PHOTOS, AND OTHER VISUAL INFORMATION CODE ENFORCEMENT.
SO ACTUALLY, UM, THESE ARE REALLY GREAT NUMBERS, UM, COMPARED TO OTHER COMMUNITIES I'VE WORKED WITH, UM, USUALLY THE CODE ENFORCEMENT IS JUST A REALLY DIFFICULT ONE.
UM, AND, UH, ALTHOUGH WITH THE BENCHMARKING, UH, YOU GUYS ARE REALLY RIGHT ON THE HEELS, UM, WITH THEM, UH, WITH THE NATIONAL AVERAGE AND THE REGIONAL AVERAGE.
UH, BUT OVERALL, UM, NOT TOO BAD HERE.
UM, AND THIS IS JUST ENFORCEMENT OF EXTERIOR MAINTENANCE OF COMMERCIAL IMPS PROPERTIES, ENFORCEMENT OF SIGN REGULATIONS, UH, JUST CLEAN UP DEBRIS OF PRIVATE PROPERTY, UM, AND THEN JUST, UH, MOWING AND CUTTING WEEDS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY.
SO EMPHASIS ON CODE ENFORCEMENT, WE'RE GONNA WANT TO SEE, UH, VERY HIGH PRIOR, THE VERY HIGH PRIORITY IS GONNA BE THE ENFORCEMENT OF MOWING AND CUTTING OF WEEDS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY, AND THEN ALSO THE CLEANUP OF TRASH ON PRIVATE PROPERTY.
AND WE SEE THAT, UH, THESE ARE HIGH, MUCH HIGHER IMPORTANT, UM, THAN THE OTHER CODE ENFORCEMENT.
WE SEE THAT, UH, ENFORCEMENT OF CLEANUP, TRASH AND DEBRIS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY, 53% OF FOLKS, IT'S THE SECOND ONE DOWN, SAID THAT IT'S THE MOST, MOST IMPORTANT, FOLLOWED BY, UH, ENFORCEMENT AND MOWING, CUTTING OF WEEDS AND PRIVATE PROPERTY, 46% SAID IT'S IMPORTANT.
UM, AND SO, UH, AND HAS A SLIGHTLY LOWER, UM, SATISFACTION THAN THE OTHERS.
UH, BUT IF THEY'RE HIGHER IMPORTANT, I'M GONNA RECREATE PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES AS YOU'RE GONNA SEE HERE.
UM, REALLY, UH, OVERALL FOLKS ARE VERY SATISFIED IN THE MAINTENANCE OF CITY PARKS, QUALITY OF WALKING, BIKING TRAILS, NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS, AND THEN OUTDOOR ATHLETIC FIELDS WHERE WE SEE SOME OPPORTUNITY, UH, WHERE THERE'S A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF FOLKS, UH, UH, THAT ARE, UH, THERE'S A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF FOLKS THAT ARE DISSATISFIED.
UH, DOWN HERE AT THE BOTTOM, OUTDOOR SPLASH PADS, DOG PARKS, UM, HERE, THE FOURTH ONE FROM THE BOTTOM PICNIC TABLES, SHELTERS, AND BATHROOMS. AND WE'RE ALSO GONNA SEE, I HAVE A CHART HERE IN A LITTLE BIT.
UH, IF YOU LOOK AT THE FIFTH ONE DOWN TRAIL CONNECTIVITY, UM, WE HAVE 28% OF FOLKS ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THAT.
AND I'M GONNA SHOW YOU A CHART HERE IN A SECOND.
UH, THAT'LL HELP HELP SEED SEE THE NEED FOR TRAILS AND TRAIL CONNECTIVITY PROGRAMS. OVERALL, UH, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE SOME HIGH SATISFACTION WITH THIS SPECIAL EVENT SPONSORED BY THE CITY, YOUTH ATHLETIC AND RECREATION PROGRAMS. WE SEE SOME HIGH SATISFACTION PARKS AND TRAILS.
HOW IMPORTANT, UH, SO IF YOU SEE HERE, THE, THE DARK BLUES VERY IMPORTANT.
AND THEN THE LIGHT BLUES SOMEWHAT IMPORTANT.
UM, PRACTICALLY THREE OUT OF FOUR RESIDENTS SAY THAT, UH, IT'S IMPORTANT THAT THE CITY PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY PARKS AND RECREATION PROGRAMS AND FACILITIES.
UM, EARLIER IN THE SURVEY I HAD ASKED, UH, WELL, UH, WHAT'S YOUR LEVEL OF NEED FOR NATURE PASS TRAIL CONNECTIVITY OUT DI OUTDOOR EXERCISE AREAS? UM, AND SO I SAW A PERCENTAGE OF FOLKS THAT SAID, YES, I DO NEED THIS.
WELL, WHAT WE'RE SEEING HERE IS, UH, UH, AND THEN I ASKED, WELL, HOW WELL ARE YOUR NEEDS BEING MET WITH SAY, NATURE PATHS IS OUR TOP ONE.
UH, SO, UH, SO THEN PERCENTAGE SAID, WELL, IT'S 50% MET, AND THAT WOULD BE THE GRAY, UH, THE PINK IS, IT'S 25% MET, AND THEN THIS RED IS, IT'S NOT MET AT ALL.
SO 0% AND WHAT, AND SO THEN I TAKE THE NUMBERS, AND THEN WHAT WE SEE IS THAT, UH, 3,592 HOUSEHOLDS THAT'S ESTIMATED, UH, WITH THE, UH, 8,000, 80, 8900 HOUSEHOLDS THAT ARE IN HU SAY THAT THEIR NEEDS FOR NATURE PATHS ARE BEING FIT MET.
ONLY 50% ARE TO, OR LESS 3000 SAY THAT OUTDOOR EXERCISE AREAS ARE ONLY BEING MET, UM, 50% OR LESS.
AND THEN TRAIL CAN ACTIVITIES 27, UH, A HUNDRED PER HUNDRED RES HOUSEHOLDS, THESE ARE HOUSEHOLDS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT, NOT RESIDENTS.
UH, 2,700 HOUSEHOLDS SAY THAT, UH, THEY'RE NE THEY'RE TRAIL CONNECTIVITY NEEDS ARE ONLY BEING 50 PER MET, 50% OR LESS.
THEN WE SEE THAT, UH, SO THIS IS A, A LEVEL OF AGREEMENT QUESTION.
UH, SO IS THIS CITY OF HEDO PARKS AND RECREATION PROGRAMS AND FACILITIES MEETING MY EXPECTATIONS, AND WE SEE THAT 30, 39% OF FOLKS, UM, SAY THAT, UH, THEY AGREE WITH THAT STATEMENT.
WE SEE 41% HERE THAT ARE NEUTRAL.
UM, AND USUALLY WHAT I LIKE TO SAY, OR WHAT I LIKE TO EXPLAIN NEUTRAL IS, UH, THEY EITHER JUST, UH, THEY DON'T KNOW, SO THEY CAN'T, UH, THEY CAN'T, UH, GIVE THEIR OPINION ON IT, UM, OR THEY JUST, UH, THEY JUST, THEY
[00:30:01]
DON'T HAVE AN OPINION AND THEY ARE NEUTRAL ABOUT IT.UM, AND THEN WE SEE THAT, UH, 20% OF FOLKS DISAGREE WITH THAT STATEMENT.
SO THEY WOULD SAY THAT CITY, THAT THE CITY DOES, UH, PROVIDE PROGRAMS AND FACILITIES THAT MEET THEIR EXPECTATIONS.
WHEN WE LOOK AT PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES, SOME PRIORITIES FOR THEM, QUALITY OF WALKING, VIKING TRAILS, TREE CANOPY, AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS ARE GONNA BE YOUR TOP THREE PRIORITIES, FOLLOWED BY OUTDOOR SPLASH PAD, MAINTENANCE OF CITY PARKS, DOG PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS, PICNIC TABLES, AND TRAIL CON CONNECTIVITY IS GONNA BE YOUR HIGH PRIORITY PROGRAM PROGRAMS. UM, THIS HELPS US TO UNDERSTAND WHAT TYPES OF PROGRAMS THAT RESIDENTS ARE WANTING TO SEE.
UH, EITHER BECAUSE THEY'RE, THEY'RE NOT HAPPENING OR THEY WANNA SEE MORE OF THEM.
UH, WE SEE THAT NATURE-BASED PROGRAMMING, YOUTH, A YOUTH ATHLETIC AND RECREATION PROGRAMS, SENIOR RECREATION PROGRAMS, AND THEN OUT OF SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND CAMPS, SPECIAL EVENTS SPONSORED BY THE STUDIES, THOSE ARE GONNA BE THE TOP, UH, TOP SET, TOP FIVE, I'M SORRY, FIVE PROGRAMS THAT RESIDENTS WOULD REALLY, UH, THAT WOULD BE MOST IMPORTANT TO THEM.
THEN JUST REALLY QUICK, SOME OTHER, UM, QUICK FINDINGS THAT WE SAW.
UH, THERE WAS A QUESTION ABOUT, UH, HOW, UH, THEIR LEVEL OF AGREEMENT, IF THEY SUPPORT FOR THEIR FINANCIAL INVESTMENT IN GROWING THE TREES CAN TREE CANOPY.
UM, SO, UH, IN, UH, INVESTING IN GETTING THE NUMBER OF TREES ON PUBLIC PROPERTY, AND WE SEE THAT, UH, REALLY, UH, AN OVERWHELMING, UM, ABOUT, UH, THREE OUTTA FOUR PEOPLE SAY THAT THEY DO AGREE, UH, WITH THAT STATEMENT.
LIBRARY SERVICES, REALLY GREAT JOB HERE.
FOLKS ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE LIBRARY SERVICES.
SO THE, UH, UH, THE DARK BLUES VERY SATISFIED, AND THIS LIGHT BLUES SATISFIED.
UM, BUT WE SEE HERE THAT MAJORITY OF FOLKS ARE VERY SATISFIED WITH THE FRIENDLINESS, HELPNESS OF STAFF, THE ADULT COLLECTIONS THAT YOU HAVE, UM, YOUNG ADULTS OUT THE HOURS, THE FACILITY ACCESSIBILITY, UM, AND THEN THE AVAILABILITY OF STUDY ROOMS. SO REALLY SOME, UH, GREAT, GREAT, UH, GREAT NUMBERS THERE FOR YOU GUYS.
AND THERE'S, UH, WE ASKED THE QUESTION ABOUT HOW SUPPORTIVE WOULD YOU BE IF THE CITY, UH, FURTHER INVESTED IN BRUSHY CREEK AMPHITHEATER? UH, AND WE SEE HERE THAT, UM, ABOUT 48.4, SO 48% OF FOLKS SAY THAT THEY'RE VERY SUPPORTIVE AND SUPPORTIVE.
UM, AND THEN WE SEE IN THE RED, UM, THAT 28.7% OF FOLKS ARE NOT SUPPORTIVE OR NOT SUPPORTIVE AT ALL.
UM, AND THEN WE SEE THAT 30.9% ARE NEUTRAL.
AND THAT GOES BACK TO WHAT I HAD SAID EARLIER, THAT THAT NEUTRAL REALLY IS, UH, THAT EITHER THEY JUST DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INFORMATION TO GET AN OPINION, OR THEY JUST REALLY JUST DON'T HAVE AN OPINION.
UM, BUT REALLY THAT COULD JUST BE AN INFORMATIONAL, THEY JUST NEED A LITTLE BIT MORE INFORMATION TO SAY IF THEY'RE SUPPORTIVE OR NOT.
SO SOME, JUST SOME RECOMMENDATIONS THAT REALLY GOES BACK TO THE IS TABLES.
UM, GOING BACK THERE, AS I SAID BEFORE, UM, I, I HAD MET WITH EACH DEPARTMENT INDIVIDUALLY, WENT THROUGH THEIR, UM, WENT THROUGH THEIR NUMBERS, THEIR SPECIFIC NUMBERS, UH, ON A GRANULAR LEVEL, UH, GAVE THEM, UH, PRIORITIES THAT WE SHOULD FOCUS ON NEXT STEPS.
UM, AND AS I SAID BEFORE, UH, THEY EITHER WERE REALLY, UH, MOTIVATED TO TAKE ON THESE NEXT STEPS, UH, OR THEY ALREADY HAD THE FINGER ON THEIR PULSE AND THEY WERE ALREADY MAKING THOSE DECISIONS.
UM, THEY WERE ALREADY ON TOP OF IT.
UM, SO, UH, THEY'RE DOING A REALLY GREAT JOB THERE.
UM, SO REALLY WHAT THIS, THE, THE PRIORITIES WILL HELP, UM, REALLY GUIDE, UH, THE CITY MANAGER, UH, AND THE DEPARTMENT HEADS TO REALLY MAKE, UH, NEXT STEPS, UM, TO, UH, MAKING IT, TO CREATING A CITY THAT, UH, RESIDENTS ARE SATISFIED WITH THE SERVICES IT PROVIDES.
UM, BUT OVERALL, WE SEE THAT FOLKS ARE VERY HAPPY WITH HATO.
THEY LOVE LIVING THERE, UM, FOR COUNTLESS RE REASONS.
UM, YOU ALL REALLY ARE PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY SURVEYS, SURVEYS, SERVICES, SORRY, UH, UM, BUT YOU REALLY ARE PROVIDING THOSE HIGH QUALITY SERVICES FOR RESIDENTS.
UM, SO AS I SAID BEFORE, JUST USE THOSE IS TABLES TO CREATE PRIORITIES TO RAISE THE OVERALL SATISFACTION WITH CITY ANALYSIS.
WE ARE CON WE ARE GONNA, WE ARE GOING TO CONDUCT THE SURVEY AGAIN IN 2024 AND 2026, AND THIS IS GONNA REALLY HELP US SEE TREND DATA.
THAT'S REALLY GONNA BE THE BIGGEST THING THAT WE CAN SEE OUT OF IT IS THAT, UM, UH, AND UH, THAT'S, WE ARE GOING TO, UM, UH, SEE WELL HOW, OKAY, SO COMPARED TO IN 2022, UH, HOW DO WE LOOK? HOW DO WE LOOK? WHERE DID WE IMPROVE? UM, IN WHICH AREAS OR WHERE DID WE NOT IMPROVE OR WHERE DID WE JUST KIND OF, UH, YOU KNOW, FAULT LINE.
UM, SO, UH, SO, UH, WE WERE MY, UH, E T C INSTITUTE.
WE WERE CONDUCT, WE WERE CONTRACTED AGAIN TO CONDUCT IT IN 2024 AND 2026.
SO I'M VERY EXCITED TO SEE, UH, JUST WHAT YOU ALL DO WITH THIS DATA, UM, AND UH, JUST SEE HOW YOU ALL DO OVER THE NEXT, UH, IN OVER THE NEXT COUPLE SURVEYS THAT, UH, WE CONDUCT FOR YOU.
UM, BUT LOVED WORKING WITH THE TEAM, UH, OF HU UH, I FEEL LIKE YOU ALL ARE, YOU KNOW, FAMILY
[00:35:01]
TO ME.UM, AND SO I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO GET DOWN THERE AND, UH, I LOOK FORWARD TO ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS WHEN I'M DOWN THERE AND SEEING HU FOR MYSELF TOO.
CUZ I FEEL LIKE WITH AS MANY MEETINGS AS I'VE HAD WITH YOU GUYS, I FEEL LIKE I, I KNOW IT, UH, AND WITH THE DATA TOO, SO, UH, CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU GUYS.
UM, SO EITHER I GAVE YOU FIVE MINUTES BACK OF YOUR LIFE OR IF ANYBODY HAS ANY LIKE, QUICK QUESTIONS.
UM, I DON'T, UH, I MEAN I'M, I'M FINE WITH THAT OR, UH, UM, I DON'T KNOW, UH, WHO'S BEHIND THE CAMERA? UM, YOU KNOW, I HAVE FIVE MINUTES.
YOU HAVE ME FOR FIVE MINUTES IF YOU WANT ME QUESTIONS.
UH, THE MAYOR IS ASKING FOR QUESTIONS FROM THE GROUP.
ALWAYS ASSUME THAT THE TRAFFIC AND THAT THE TRUTH PRIORITY CITIZENS TO HAVE ACTUAL DATA SET THAT WE CAN JUSTIFY AND THE MAINTENANCE ROAD.
WE DID THIS SURVEY ABOUT HOW KIND OF LOOKS LIKE WE NEED TO DATE THE AMOUNT OF FUNDING WE WANT TO DO FOR MAINTENANCE ROADS WITH THAT HIGHER NUMBER.
I THINK NOW WE HAVE A JUSTIFICATION THAT WE DEFINITELY NEED TO DO THAT BECAUSE UM, WE HAVE FISCAL BALLOT DATA THAT SAYS WE TO THAT.
IS THIS SOMETHING WE CAN GET ON THE, HOW DO WE COMMUNICATE THESE RESULTS TO THE PUBLIC? WELL, UH, ESTHER'S COMING TO THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING, THE FIRST MEETING IN MARCH TO DO A PUBLIC PRESENTATION.
UM, IF IT'S THIS EXACT SAME PRESENTATION THAT TOOK HER 35 MINUTES, FIVE MINUTES DOWN, I DON'T KNOW IF Y'ALL WANT IT, YOU KNOW, IF THAT FELT ABOUT RIGHT OR IF YOU WANT IT TO DIAL IT DOWN OR IF YOU WANT IT TO BE EVEN MORE IN DEPTH.
SO SHE'S FLYING DOWN AND UH, WE'LL BE HERE TO BE ABLE TO PRESENT THIS PUBLICLY, THE, THE PACKETS AND ALL THAT TYPE OF STUFF.
ALISON ALREADY HAS PREPARED TO GO, YOU KNOW, LIVE ON THE WEBSITE AND ALL THAT.
YOU KNOW, WHENEVER ESTHER PRESENTS IT, I WIND DIAL IT DOWN TO, BECAUSE IF YOU DIAL IT DOWN TOO MUCH, THEN WE'LL PRESENT IT TO THE PUBLIC AND THERE'S JUST GONNA BE LEFT WITH A BUNCH OF QUESTIONS.
UM, ALTHOUGH THAT GO A WHOLE LOT MORE IN DEPTH CAUSE THAT WAS PRETTY THOROUGH AND I DON'T THINK THAT'S STUFF LIKE HAVE TO, THAT'S NOT A LOT OF QUESTIONS THAT, YEAH.
YEAH, I MEAN I, WHENEVER WE FIRST, YOU KNOW, SAW THIS AND I THINK THE DIRECTION THAT WAS, THAT WAS GIVEN TO E TC AND ESTHER, YOU KNOW, ALSO WAS, UH, YOU KNOW, TRY TO BE CONCISE BUT TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE METHODOLOGY BECAUSE THAT'S ALWAYS AN ISSUE OF, WELL I DON'T TRUST THE RESULTS.
SO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE METHODOLOGY SO THAT WAY IT PITS PEOPLE AT WITH A COMFORT LEVEL THAT THE DATA IS ACTUALLY DATA THAT WE CAN USE.
AND THEN OF COURSE, JUST A HIGH LEVEL SUMMARY.
THE, THE LEVEL OF DETAIL THAT THEY HAVE IS, IS WAY MORE INVOLVED IF YOU GET INTO ALL THE DATA TABLES AND EVERYTHING ELSE, YOU KNOW, YOU COULD PROBABLY JUST REALLY GEEK OUT WITH IT, BUT THAT'S A HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW.
LIKE YOU CAN, UH, HERE GET A SURVEY.
I DIDN'T LIVE HERE YET, SO NO.
SO I GOT ONE THAT WAS THE MOST IN DEPTH THING I'VE EVER SEEN.
IF THAT CAN BE SHARED ES YOU IS IT IN HERE? YEAH, THE SURVEY ITSELF, LIKE WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE AND YOU HAD OVER 400, OVER 400 PEOPLE THAT, THAT THAT SUBMITTED THAT.
I DIDN'T FINISH IT CUZ I WAS LIKE THAT'S INSIST.
UM, MR. I THINK, UM, THIS MYSELF, ALISON AND BRIAN, I THINK ON THAT THE CALL AND IF WE CAN, UM, MAYBE ONLY PART I'D LIKE TO ADD IS, UM, A LOT OF THE BIG PIECE OF THIS, UM, WAS THE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION AND OH, SO THAT WAS, YEAH, I KNOW THAT IT'S SUMMARY, BUT I JUST DIDN'T, WELL, UH, COUNCIL UH, COUNCIL MEMBER KENZIE WHO SAID STEPPED OUT OF THE ROOM WHENEVER YOU STARTED TALKING ABOUT HOW YOU WOULD COVER MORE OF THE D N I UH, UH, STUFF IN PERSON AND TONIGHT WE WERE JUST KIND OF GOING OVER THE RESULTS.
SO YEAH, I'M, I'M HAPPY TO COVER, UH, COVER THAT CAUSE I KNOW IT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU ALL.
UM, AND IT'S IMPORTANT TO ME SO I'M HAPPY TO COVER THAT WHEN I'M DOWN THERE IN PERSON.
AND THAT STUFF WE COULD REALLY GEEK OUT ON CUZ I MEAN, I GOT CROSS TABS, UH, YOU KNOW, CAUSE I CAN RUN CROSS TABS ON, YOU KNOW, HOW DID FOLKS THAT ARE BETWEEN THESE AGES ANSWER MALE AND FEMALE RACE ETHNICITY.
SO YOU CAN REALLY, YOU CAN REALLY GET SOME, YOU KNOW, GEEKED OUT, UH, GEEKED OUT DA DATA FROM THIS FOR SURE.
ANYTHING ELSE? ALL RIGHT, ESTHER.
SOUNDS LIKE THEY'RE, THEY'RE, THEY'RE GOOD.
[00:40:01]
IN A MEETING AT SIX 40.
