[Library Advisory Board on November 4, 2024.]

THE SENIORS, CARMEL CREEK.

ALRIGHT.

SO WE ARE, WE'RE MOVING FORWARD WITH THAT.

WE'RE LOOKING AT MAYBE ONCE A MONTH MEETING.

UM, UH, WHAT I HOPE FOR IS WE'LL HAVE SOME PEOPLE THAT WILL STEP UP AND WANT TO FILL, LIKE NO SECRETARY, YOU KNOW, UH, VICE CHAIR AND THAT SORT OF THING.

SO THAT, UM, I'M SUPPOSED TO BE AN VISIO MEMBER AND SO, UH, THAT WAY I CAN MOVE AWAY, BUT STILL BE ACTIVE.

BUT, UM, I HAVE THE TIME AND THE, THE PASSION AND I WANNA HELP REVITALIZE IT.

SO, UM, I MA I MADE SURE THAT WAS OKAY WITH CITY MANAGER AND WE'RE GOT A GREEN ON.

AWESOME.

YES.

UH, FOR PUBLIC AND CONSULT OF WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR PRINCIPAL, UH, THAT YOU LOVE LIBRARY IN WHATEVER LOCALITY DESIGN, RIGHT? YES, EXACTLY.

YEAH.

IT'S REALLY, UM, THAT YOU WANT TO, THE, THE ROLE IS MORE OF AN ADVOCACY ROLE, A FUNDRAISING ROLE.

UM, BUT WE HAVE ALL THESE LITTLE PROJECTS.

WE KEEP A NEEDS TRACKER ACTUALLY AS A STAFF, AND WE JUST KIND OF ADD TO IT AS THE PUBLIC TELLS US THINGS AND THEN ALSO WHAT WE SEE NEEDS FOR.

AND SO WE'RE, FOR MY FIRST, UM, FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY MEETING, I'M GOING TO BE PRESENTING A COUPLE OF THOSE IS CONSIDERATION TO BE FUNDED.

SOME OF THE NOT SUPER EXPENSIVE ONES, BUT ONES THAT WE STILL NEED MM-HMM.

OR SEE A NEED FOR.

SO.

AWESOME.

WELL, SARAH, THANK YOU FOR CONTINUING TO LEAD THAT EFFORT AND I'M, I'M EXCITED TO HEAR THAT IN THE SHORT , YOU GUYS ARE ALREADY RECRUITING YOU NEW SOULS TO THAT ADDITION.

THAT'S, THAT'S PROBLEM I HAD TO START WITH SOMEWHERE, RIGHT? YEAH.

SO THANK YOU FOR AND I THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT THE EASIEST PER LIKE, I LITERALLY JUST SAY, CAN WE GET THIS? YES.

.

IT'S OKAY.

ALRIGHT.

UM, OH, AND I WANTED TO, WELL, WE KIND OF ALREADY SAID ALREADY, BUT TANYA CHARRO, SHE WAS PROMOTED TO OUR LIBRARY.

YAY.

APPLAUSE.

SHE WORKED SO HARD.

OH, CONGRATULATIONS.

YOU CAN WORK WELL TOGETHER.

SO THAT'S IT.

A LOT OF STUFF DONE LOOKS GREAT.

AND ALSO WELCOME TO THIS MEETING.

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR, FOR JOINING AND THANK YOU MORGAN.

DID MORGAN REACH OUT TO YOU? UH, NO.

NO.

OKAY.

OKAY, BECAUSE I TALKED TO, I YOU SAID THAT YOU REACHED OH YEAH, I RECRUITED HER.

DID, YEAH.

I, ONE, SO EXCITED.

I HAD TO, UM, IF YOU'LL NOTICE, WELL, UH, FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE FINE DETAIL PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF, YOU'LL NOTICE THAT THE PRESENTATION IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU HAVE BECAUSE I HAD TO GO BACK AND EDIT IT BECAUSE YOU WERE NO LONGER, YOU KNOW, OR HAVE TWO VACANCIES.

SO I HAD TO ERASE THAT FROM THE, THE, UM, PRESENTATION.

ALRIGHT, SO WE'RE GONNA MOVE ON TO THE AGENDA ITEMS. ALRIGHT.

FIRST THING ON THE AGENDA IS, UM, POSSIBLE ACTION ON APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM OUR LAST MEETING, AUGUST 5TH.

SO I'LL GIVE EVERYBODY A FEW MOMENTS JUST TO REVIEW IT.

UM, IF YOU HAVE NOTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED OR NO QUESTION ABOUT IT, JUST GIMME A THUMB UP AND I'LL KNOW THAT WE'RE READY TO MOVE FORWARD ON RETAIN A MOTION THAT STARTS ON PAGE FOUR OF OUR PACKET.

MOTION TO ATTEMPT .

RIGHT.

WE HAVE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES.

IT'S PRESENTED BY THE TWO MET SECOND BY, UM, TANYA, ANY QUESTIONS OR DISCUSSION ON THAT? NO.

THEN ALL IN FAVOR SAY AYE.

AYE.

QUESTION PASSES ONE.

RIGHT.

AWESOME.

WHAT WAS EASY? UH, CHAIR COMMENTS.

SO, UM, ONE THING THAT WE HAD TALKED ABOUT AUGUST WAS SO LONG AGO, ONE THING WE TALKED ABOUT LAST TIME WAS THIS, UM, COMMITTEE THAT THE CITY IS PUTTING TOGETHER TO COMMEMORATE .

SO OFFERED TO SERVE, UM, ON THAT BOARD.

UM, THOSE, UM, LIKE THE APPLICATION THAT HASN'T OPENED UP YET, BUT I JUST WANNA KEEP THAT FRESH IN OUR MIND.

UM, I BELIEVE WE'RE ABLE TO NOMINATE TWO PEOPLE FROM THIS BOARD, SO IF ANYBODY ELSE HAS INTEREST, UM, YOU CAN JUST LET KRISTEN KNOW.

AND SO I DON'T THINK IT NEEDS TO BE LIKE A FOR FORMAL ACTION OF THIS GROUP, BUT

[00:05:01]

I WANNA MAKE SURE EVERYBODY WAS KIND OF FAMILIAR WITH THAT.

UM, I THINK THAT WAS THE MAIN THING.

THE ONLY OTHER THING I'LL BRING UP IS THAT, UM, THERE ARE A LOT OF ACTIV ACTIVITIES HAPPENING AT THE LIBRARY RIGHT NOW.

LOTS OF NEW PROGRAMS. SO WHEREVER YOU FEEL CALLED TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION OR GIVE PEOPLE INFORMATION ABOUT THE LIBRARY, I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO HAVE A LIBRARY CARD IF YOU DON'T ALREADY.

I THINK EVERYBODY HERE DOES.

UM, IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT, BUT I THINK IF WE ARE ABLE TO, YOU KNOW, GO OUT IN THE COMMUNITY AND SPEAK ABOUT THE LIBRARY, WE SHOULD BE PATRONS SO WE KNOW WHAT THAT LIVED EXPERIENCE IS LIKE WHEN YOU HERE TO LIBRARY.

SO I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO, UM, KEEP DOING THAT.

ALSO, THE NEW SECTION HAS MOVED.

IT'S NOT THE SAME PLACE.

UM, THE NONFICTION AND THE FICTION NEW, UM, ITEMS HAVE MOVED.

SO YOU'RE NOT SURE WHERE THEY ARE AND YOU WANT TO KNOW IT'S NEW LIBRARY.

JUST ASK A STIPULATION THAT SOMEBODY WILL POINT ME TO THAT I FOUND THE BEST BOOK, UM, THAT I'M CURRENTLY READING RIGHT NOW.

ALL RIGHT, SO THAT'S IT FOR YOUR COMMENT.

IS THERE ANYTHING I LOVE OUT? NO, I WAS GONNA ASK LIKE, SO LISTEN, AND I'M NOT A VERY DRIVEN PERSON, BUT I NOTICED ALONG THE, WHERE Y'ALL HAVE LIKE YOUNG, IS THAT NEW? IT'S WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS.

YEAH.

OKAY.

AUGUST.

WOW.

WOW.

IT'S HELPFUL, ISN'T IT? YEAH.

YEAH.

IT'S BASIC, BUT IT'S HELPFUL.

YEAH.

A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE ACTUALLY COMMENTED ON THAT BECAUSE WHEN YOU WALK IN, OBVIOUSLY IT'S A CIRCULAR SPACE AND IT'S NICE TO JUST BE LIKE, OKAY, IF YOU, IF YOU'RE A FAMILY, SAY YOU'RE GOING THERE, I'M GOING HERE, YOU'RE GOING THERE.

IT'S MUCH EASIER.

ALRIGHT, THE NEXT ITEM ON THE AGENDA IS A DISCUSSION ABOUT KEY.

BEAUTIFUL.

SO, UM, I KNOW DEBBIE HOLLANDER IS A RESOURCE RICH AND I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT WAYS THAT WE CAN COLLABORATE.

SO FOR EXAMPLE, I KNOW THAT THEY WERE ALSO VERY INTERESTED IN SUPPORTING THE SEED CATALOG, THE SEED LIBRARY.

AND SO, UM, SHE HAD IN A CONVERSATION WE HAD JUST ON A WEEKEND OF WONDERING OF WHAT OTHER THINGS COULD WE COLLABORATE ON.

AND SO WE WOULD LIKE TO PROPOSE A CONVERSATION WHERE WE BRING OUR TWO BOARDS TOGETHER, TALK ABOUT WHAT ARE OUR PRIORITIES, HOW CAN WE SUPPORT EACH OTHER'S EFFORTS? UM, AND SO I'M JUST COMING TO YOU ALL TO SEE IF THERE IS INTEREST IN THAT AND IF THAT'S SOMETHING THAT YOU GUYS BE WILLING TO ENTERTAIN, I'D ALSO BE HAPPY TO HAVE DEBBIE CHIME IN ON ANYTHING ELSE IF I DIDN'T CAPTURE THAT CONVERSATION CORRECTLY.

I KNOW THAT SHE'S BEEN SHARING A LOT OF GARDENING IDEAS ON HER FACEBOOK PAGE WHERE YOU PUT IT BEAUTIFUL AS WELL.

UM, IS THERE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE LIBRARY BOARD TO MAYBE ACTUALLY SPEND AN HOUR VOLUNTEERING WITH SOME LITTLE BEAUTIFUL, OH MY GOODNESS, YES.

, WE, WE WOULD, YOU KNOW, WE ARE IN A, UM, I WANNA SAY A, A REGENERATION TIME FOR, UM, KEEP PUT A BEAUTIFUL, AND WE'VE BEEN AROUND FOR PROBABLY 10 PLUS YEARS.

UM, THE LAST FIVE HAVE BEEN KIND OF SLOW AND I WON'T SAY STEADY, BUT SLOW.

UM, BUT I HAVE BEEN REALLY ENCOURAGED IN THE LAST PROBABLY THREE OR FOUR MONTHS BY SOME DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS REACHING OUT.

AND IT'S PRIMARILY RELATED TO THE GARDEN, NOT TO THE GREAT HUDDLE CLEANUP, WHICH WE JUST HAD LAST WEEKEND AND IT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL.

UM, AND OUR THIRD, WE'VE KIND OF GOT THREE INITIATIVES.

UM, THE THIRD ONE BEING THE ADOPT A SPOT, WHICH AGAIN, WAS A REALLY OUTGOING PROGRAM AND THEN IT KIND OF CRASHED, STARTED DURING COVID AND EVERYTHING, AND WE'RE TRYING TO BUILD IT UP.

WE GOT, JUST TO BE HONEST AND BLUNT, WE'VE GOT FOUR BOARD MEMBERS AND WE NEED MORE BOARD MEMBERS.

UM, SUSAN THE WHO USED TO BE A LIBRARY EMPLOYEE HERE, UM, USED TO BE ON THE BOARD.

UM, IT'S, IT'S TWO OLD LADIES AT THE COMMUNITY GARDEN, AND THAT'S HERSELF AND ME.

AND, UM, SO, BUT WE'VE GOT A LOT OF REALLY EXCITING THINGS THAT ARE, THAT ARE HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.

WE JUST NEED MORE PEOPLE TO KIND OF, I MEAN, I'VE GOT A LOT OF IDEAS, BUT I JUST, I MEAN, IT'S LIKE, IT'S A GOOD THING THAT MORGAN CALLED ME THIS AFTERNOON BECAUSE I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN HERE.

IT WAS LIKE, YOU KNOW, UH, BUT ANYWAY, UM, SO JUST A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON AT THE GARDEN RIGHT NOW.

WE'VE GOT A GENTLEMAN THAT APPROACHED ME TO PUT IN A COMPOST PROGRAM

[00:10:01]

AND WE WERE DOING ONE, BUT IT WASN'T WORKING OUT.

AND SO WE PULLED THE PLUG ON THAT.

UM, HE'S MOVED HERE FROM AUSTIN AND HE, HE'S, YOU KNOW, IT'S PROBABLY IN HIS SIXTIES.

HE'S GOT A FAIR AMOUNT OF TIME ON HIS HANDS.

HE HAD MET WITH, UM, THE RESOURCE CENTER IN THE FOOD PANTRY, AND THAT'S HOW HE GOT MY NAME.

AND, AND REALLY JUST IN TWO WEEKS HE IS KIND OF GOT IT LAID OUT AND, YOU KNOW, THINGS ARE STARTING TO HAPPEN, SO YOU'RE GONNA START SEEING PICTURES ON, UH, THE GARDEN FACEBOOK PAGE.

SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND HE'S GOT A LOT OF OTHER IDEAS ABOUT IT.

SO WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING THE NAME OF THE COMMUNITY GARDEN BECAUSE IT'S A LITTLE MISLEADING.

PEOPLE ASSUME THAT THEY CAN RENT SPACES, AND WE DID THAT 10, 12 YEARS AGO.

AND LOGISTICALLY THAT'S A VERY COMPLICATED EVENT TO KIND OF MANAGE.

SO IT'S GONNA BE THE PETERSON COMMUNITY DEMONSTRATION GARDEN.

SO REALLY WHAT WE'RE LOOKING MORE INTO IS JUST EDUCATING PEOPLE ON ANY ASPECT OF GARDENING.

AND, UM, YOU KNOW, IDEALLY WE WOULD HAVE WEEKLY OR AT LEAST MONTHLY PROGRAM.

WE'VE GOT AN AREA THAT WE CALL SPEAKERS AREA AND, YOU KNOW, THROUGH OUTSIDE AGENCY FUNDS THROUGH THE CITY.

UM, WE'VE, WE'VE PUT IN KIND OF A, UM, A GRANITE SPACE AND WE'RE DOING, GONNA DO SOME SHAPE OVER THAT.

WE'VE GOT THAT.

WE'VE, WE'VE GOT A BEEHIVE AT THE GARDENS AND SCOTT PURCELL, WHO JUST LIVES DOWN THE STREET, MANAGES THAT.

AND WE'VE DONE A PROGRAM WITH HIM BEFORE AND THAT HAS WORKED REALLY WELL.

AND THEN, I DON'T KNOW IF Y'ALL ARE FAMILIAR WITH, UH, HIP SOCIAL CLUB.

YOU'VE SEEN THAT ONLINE? WELL, THEY REACHED OUT TO ME AND THEY ARE, UM, THEIR PRIMARY GOAL BESIDES HEALTH AND FITNESS IS COMMUNITY.

AND I THINK, OH, HOW NOVEL, LET'S DO THAT.

AND THEY ARE VERY INTERESTED IN, IN PARTNERING WITH A HP SPECIFICALLY GARDENS, AND I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS KNOW WHERE THEY'RE LOCATED, BUT IT'S OVER THERE ON LIMMER LOOP NEXT TO CHRIST ROCK CHURCH.

SO IT'S WHERE PATRIOTS FITNESS IS, AND TRACY AND, AND, UM, NICK ARE WHO RUN ALL OF THAT.

AND THEY HAVE CREATED, UM, TRAILS BACK BEHIND.

SO IT'S KIND OF BETWEEN THE CHURCH AND PARK.

UM, THEY'RE GONNA START HAVING, YOU KNOW, LIKE FIVE KS, 10 KS OVER THERE.

AND WHAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT IS THIS, PEOPLE ARE ALL A WHOLE LOT YOUNGER THAN I AM AND, UM, YOU KNOW, THEY'VE GOT A LOT MORE ENERGY.

SO THEY ARE WANTING, AND THE THOUGHT IS TO MAYBE DO SOME VEGETABLE GARDENING OVER THERE THAT WE THEN CAN GIVE TO THE FOOD PANTRY AND, YOU KNOW, IT MIGHT NOT BE A HUGE VOLUME OF STUFF, SO THE FOOD PANTRY'S NOT GONNA BE ABLE TO, YOU KNOW, PULL THE PLUG OF THE, UM, BANK OR HEV, BUT IT'S JUST BRINGING THE AWARENESS TO PEOPLE AND HOPEFULLY THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT GO, CAN I JUST COME AND WORK? YEAH.

TOO, THE ISDS WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SOME KIDS OUT TOO, TO SEE THAT MM-HMM.

AND TO THEIR SCIENCE.

RIGHT.

AND, YOU KNOW, THERE HAVE BEEN IN THE PAST YEARS, UM, AT PRIMARILY AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WHERE A HB WOULD GO IN BECAUSE THERE'S A LOT OF RAISED BEDS IN THE COURTYARDS.

THANK YOU.

SO, UM, WE WOULD, WE WOULD LIKE TO BE A PARTICIPANT IN THAT.

I DON'T KNOW HOW EASILY IT WOULD BE TO GET CLASSES TO THE GARDENS, BUT, UM, IT WOULD BE NICE TO, WE HAVE A HOMESCHOOL GROUP.

OH, NOW? YES, YES.

AND TRACY WITH, UM, HIPPO, HIPPO SOCIAL, UM, I DON'T KNOW IF HER KIDS ARE HOMESCHOOLED, BUT SHE'S VERY FAMILIAR WITH A COUPLE OF HOMESCHOOL GROUPS.

SO, YOU KNOW, I'M KIND OF FOR, LET'S START WITH SOMETHING SCHOOL AND DOABLE AND, UH, MANAGEABLE AND, YOU KNOW, RELATED TO THE SEED LIBRARY.

WHEN MORGAN CONTACTED ME, IT WAS LIKE, OH MY GOSH, THIS IS A GREAT IDEA.

AND I'M A MEMBER OF THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY.

[00:15:01]

NIPS O IS THE ACRONYM FOR THAT.

AND, UM, THEY DO NATIVE PLANT RESCUES AND ACTUALLY FIELD TRIPS OF GOING OUT AND, YOU KNOW, HARVESTING SEED.

AND I, I JUST, THERE IS SO MUCH THAT PEOPLE CAN LEARN FROM THAT AND, YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT JUST HARVESTING THE SEED AND THEN, YOU KNOW, THROWN IN, IN THE RIGHT KIND OF, YOU KNOW, NOT A PLASTIC BAG, BUT A PAPER ENVELOPE.

UM, SO JUST I, I SEE ENDLESS KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES AND I THINK THAT, AND I'VE MENTIONED IT TO THE BOARD, BUT, UM, YOU KNOW, I THINK THAT THE BOARD WOULD BE AMENABLE TO ACTUALLY, IF, IF Y'ALL WANTED TO DO SOME KIND OF A PARTNERSHIP AND LET US BE A, YOU KNOW, SOME KIND OF A FINANCIAL SPONSOR TO YOU GUYS.

'CAUSE I MEAN, WE DON'T, I THINK WE'RE OPEN TO THAT.

OKAY.

YEAH.

, DID YOU SAY HOW MUCH? BUT I, YOU KNOW, I THINK THAT THAT WOULD BE, UM, AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I WAS THINKING ABOUT, BECAUSE APRIL WAS TELLING ME THIS, UM, WE WERE SITTING IN HERE WITH A, UM, MASTER GARDNER PROGRAM THAT WAS GOING ON.

I'VE STARTED COMING TO BOES JUST THINKING, I, JUST BECAUSE WE CAN'T GET ANYBODY TO COME TO THE GARDENS, I THOUGHT, OKAY, I'LL GO TO, I'LL GO TO THESE PEOPLE AND, YOU KNOW, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE AND YOU KNOW, I DON'T KNOW, THE GARDENS ARE THERE.

SO, UM, BUT APRIL WAS TELLING ME THAT SORT OF HER IDEA WAS TO HAVE LIKE AN OLD CARD CATALOG FOR, WHICH WOULD BE SO COOL.

AND THE ONE THAT THEY'VE GOT, YOU KNOW, IT'S GOT LIKE 12 DRAWERS.

WELL, I AIN'T GONNA GO VERY FAR.

AND SO I THOUGHT, YOU KNOW, THAT THAT MIGHT BE SOMETHING THAT KHB COULD ACTUALLY FUND TO GIVE US A, YOU KNOW, A SIZEABLE, AND I DON'T, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SEED LIBRARIES.

UM, A LOT OF, A LOT OF THE TOWNS LOCALLY AROUND HERE KNOW ABOUT SEED LIBRARY AND SEED LIBRARIES.

AND AGAIN, SUSAN EDIE FORMER, UM, LIBRARY EMPLOYEE, UM, SHE'S MY SEED GURU.

UH, IF, I MEAN, SHE KNOWS, YOU KNOW, THAT'S WHO I TAKE MY SEEDS TO.

I SAY, WELL, YOU KNOW, YOU WANNA START THESE .

SO IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY.

I MEAN, I'M EXCITED JUST FOR, UH, OBVIOUSLY I LOVE PLANTS, BUT, UM, I THINK THAT, YOU KNOW, WE WOULD LOVE TO WORK WITH YOU GUYS.

AND I THINK THAT MORGAN, THAT'S A, A GREAT IDEA TO HAVE A JOINT BOARD MEETING TO JUST KIND OF, YOU KNOW, WE, WE ALL NEED TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER.

AND, AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I LOVE ABOUT HIPPO SOCIAL IS IT'S NOT POLITICAL.

IT IS ABOUT NURTURING COMMUNITY.

AND I THINK THAT THAT'S SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN MISSING A BIT HERE IN HU.

AND, UM, SO I, I SEE LOTS OF, LOTS OF, UM, OPPORTUNITIES.

SO I KNOW AS A BOARD, SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT, PRIORITIES ARE WAYS THAT WE CAN REACH SENIORS AND VIEWS MORE.

UM, AND I JUST, THE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.

SO IF, IF THERE'S AN OPPORTUNITY OR IF THERE'S AN INTEREST, UM, MAYBE IT'S NOT A FULL JOINT BOARD MEETING, MAYBE DEAL WORK SESSION WITH LIKE A COMMITTEE OF PEOPLE FROM OUR BOARD AND THEIR BOARD.

UM, BUT I GUESS THE FIRST QUESTION IS, IS THERE INTEREST IN SCHEDULING? SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

WELL THEN IF IT SOUNDS LIKE, WELL, I GUESS THIS IS AN ACTION ITEM, SO WE'RE GONNA TAKE FORMAL ACTION.

UM, I'LL MAKE A MOTION TO PURSUE A JOINT MEETING WITH KEITH.

HU.

BEAUTIFUL.

DO I HAVE A SECOND? SECOND.

SECOND.

THANK YOU FOR THAT, KYLE.

ALL RIGHT.

ANY DISCUSSION ON THAT? NO.

AND ALL IN FAVOR TO, AYE.

AYE.

ALL MOTION PASS THE UNANIMOUSLY.

SO THEN WE'LL JUST WORK THROUGH LOGISTICS AND CLIENT A TIME THAT WORKS FOR PEOPLE.

THANK YOU, DEBBIE, FOR BEING HERE AS A RESOURCE.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO THAT PARTNERSHIP.

ABSOLUTELY.

THANK YOU, YOU AND SAY, UM, WE HAVE A PLANT SWAP COMING UP THIS MONTH.

DO WE HAVE OUR NOVEMBER CALENDARS OUT? YES, THEY RIGHT.

UM, WOULD YOU GUYS LIKE TO COME AND THEY HAVE A, A TABLE WHERE YOU CAN LET PEOPLE SIGN UP DURING THAT? UH, PLAN, SWAP, BE.

ALRIGHT.

SO NICE ON, SO FIVE, FOUR.

ALL RIGHT.

UH, SO, UM, I'M JUST GONNA GO THROUGH THIS KIND OF QUICKLY.

AND THE NOTES THAT I HAD WRITTEN DOWN WERE, UM, I LOVE THAT WHENEVER I WATCHED, BEFORE I EVEN GOT HIRED, I WATCHED

[00:20:01]

THE PAST MEETINGS AND I COULD SEE WHERE THE GOALS WERE, WHAT YOU GUYS WERE TALKING ABOUT, AND THE QUESTIONS THAT YOU WERE ASKING, THE STATISTICS THAT YOU WERE LOOKING AT.

AND, UM, THEN WHEN I CAME IN AND I STARTED WORKING UP MY OWN SET OF GOALS, THEY VERY MUCH ALIGNED.

SO I LOVE THAT.

UM, AND SO THIS IS JUST A, UM, A PRESENTATION AND YOU'VE GOT, WELL, AN EDIT.

I HAVE AN EDITED VERSION UP HERE, THE NEWEST, BRIGHTEST VERSION.

BUT, UM, THE INFORMATION IS THERE IN THE PACKET TOO.

SO I'M GONNA GO OVER THE GOALS THAT YOU GUYS IDENTIFIED, THE, THE GOALS THAT I IDENTIFIED, WHAT WE HAVE IN PROGRESS AND WHAT WE HAVE THAT WE'RE LOOKING TO CUT TO DO.

ALRIGHT, SO YOU GUYS BROUGHT UP FIRST RESPONDERS.

SO, UH, IN A LITTLE BIT, I'LL TELL YOU HOW WE'RE WORKING ON THAT.

UM, BUT THAT'S SPECIFICALLY TO ENGAGE WITH THOSE LEADERS, BECOME MORE FAMILIAR WITH CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND BUILD ON THOSE RELATIONSHIPS.

UM, YOU GUYS WANTED TO INCREASE ACTIVE CARDHOLDERS BY 20%, AND THE BASELINE WAS FROM SEPTEMBER, 2023 AT 5,104, ACTUALLY CARD HOLDERS, UM, INCREASED TEEN AND SENIOR PROGRAMMING.

AND WE'LL, WE'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THAT FEASIBILITY STUDY IN A MINUTE, BUT, YEAH.

OKAY.

OH, AND SORRY, LONG TERM, UH, CONSIDERATIONS FOR, UM, A LARGER LIBRARY.

AND THEN MY GOALS ARE LOTS OF FEEDBACK SURVEYS AND TO COLLECT DATA AND MODIFY PROGRAMS, WHICH ARE ALREADY DOING, I'M GONNA PRESENT A TOOL THAT, UM, WE FOUND SORT OF IN PLACE OF THE FEASIBILITY STUDY THAT WAS KNOCKED DOWN OF THE, THE BUDGET AGAIN, UM, I'LL TALK ABOUT THAT IN A MINUTE.

UM, SO IT'S IMPORTANT TODAY THAT WE REVIEW OUR CURRENT POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND WORKFLOWS FOR EFFICIENCY.

AND THAT'S JUST AN ONGOING, ALL YEAR ROUND KIND OF THING.

UM, TONIGHT I WILL BE PROPOSING TWO POLICY CHANGES, UM, THE GROUP FOR CONSIDERATION AND, UM, NUMBER ONE, BUILD POSITIVE CONNECTIONS WITH COMMUNITY.

UM, SO I SPENT A LOT OF TIME TALKING TO LOCAL BUSINESSES, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, UH, OUR PATRONS THAT COME IN AND ATTEND OUR PROGRAMMING.

UM, AND TRYING TO FIND WAYS THAT WE CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY, EVEN WITH THE RESTRICTIONS THAT WE HAVE.

SO IS IT A SPACE RESTRICTION? WELL, THEN WE'RE GOING OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY.

WE HAVE PROGRAMS OUT.

UM, WE HAVE ONE COMING UP, IF YOU LIKE, UH, COFFEE AND MEETING.

UH, WE HAVE AN, UM, AFTERNOON BOOK TASTING AT LAND POST COFFEE THAT'S COMING UP ON THE 12TH.

SO WE'RE LOOKING AT WAYS TO SORT OF GET OUT THERE SO THAT THERE IS NO EXCUSE, LIKE WE DON'T HAVE THE SPACE.

SO WE'RE, WE'RE MAKING IT WORK FOR WHAT WE HAVE RIGHT NOW.

AND THEN TEAM AND SENIOR PROGRAMMING THAT I THOUGHT WAS FUNNY BECAUSE I HAD IDENTIFIED THAT TOO.

UM, WHEN I WAS MAKING MORE OF THE PROGRAMMING, UM, STAFF TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH, UM, A LOT OF THE LIBRARY ESTABLISHED, THEY WERE LITERALLY IN SURVIVAL MODE FOR A REALLY LONG TIME.

SO, UH, LUXURIES SOMETIMES EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE NECESSARY, THEY BECOME LUXURIES, WHICH WAS LIKE STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND THEY DID WHAT THEY COULD, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE, UH, THE ABILITY TO DO AS MUCH.

SO THAT'S SOMETHING WE DO EVERY MONTH.

WE DO STAFF TRAINING EVERY MONTH, UM, AS A GROUP.

UM, AND THEN WE ALSO DO, UM, I, I, YOU KNOW, LIKE IF I FIND SOME WEBINARS THAT I THINK OUR NEW SERVICES LIBRARIAN WOULD BE INTERESTED IN, I PASS THOSE ALONG TO HER.

UM, THE PEOPLE HAVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THINGS THAT THEY WANNA GO TO, TO SUPPORTIVE OF THAT.

UM, I'VE ALSO FOUND STAFF DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SENDING SOME OF MY STAFF TO DIFFERENT LIBRARIES IN THE AREA.

UM, WE HAD, UM, SOMEONE WHO WAS INTERESTED IN DOING OUR IDENTITIES AND DRIVINGS GROUP, WHICH HAS ALREADY STARTED.

UM, AND SO I SENT HER TO A LOCAL LIBRARY, UM, THAT, THAT ALREADY HAD THAT GOING, JUST SO THAT SHE COULD ASK QUESTIONS AND START, YOU KNOW, FIGURING THAT OUT.

WE JUST HAD OUR, UH, READ WITH THE THERAPY DOG SESSION.

UM, AND SO HANNAH WHO DID THAT, SHE WENT AND WE LOOKED AT THAT IN ANOTHER LIBRARY.

SO WE'RE FINDING WAYS THAT WE CAN, UM, WE CAN DO STAFF DEVELOPMENT EITHER AT LOW COST OR NO COST, BUT WITH IT BEING PURPOSEFUL AND, AND WHAT, UH, EACH OF US NEEDS.

UM, CULTURE OF INNOVATION, UH, I, I ENCOURAGE ALL STAFF TO PARTICIPATE.

AND, AND IT ISN'T A SITUATION WHERE I'M LIKE, I NEED EVERYBODY TO BE IN CHARGE OF A PROGRAM.

THAT'S NOT IT AT ALL.

WHEN THEY COME TO ME WITH IDEAS, MY RESPONSE IS, HOW CAN I HELP? HOW CAN I SUPPORT YOU? UM, AND EVERY IDEA THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO ME HAS BEEN A GREAT IDEA AND WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO IMPLEMENT IT IN SOME WAY.

UM, SO THAT, THAT'S BEEN, THAT'S BEEN REALLY IMPORTANT.

US WORKING TOGETHER AS A TEAM, BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE RESTRAINTS, UM, TECHNOLOGY THAT'S AN AREA OF IMPROVEMENT.

UM, THINGS LIKE WIFI, PRINTING, CREDIT CARD CAPABILITIES, THINGS LIKE THAT, WHERE THOSE ARE ON TOP OF OUR, OUR NEEDS ASSESSMENT.

AND THEN OF COURSE, AS

[00:25:01]

YOU KNOW, WHEN I HAD TO PUT IT IN RED, 'CAUSE I'M SALTY, UM, 25 BUDGETING BUDGET.

UM, SO, UM, AND THEN OF COURSE LONG TERM LARGER STANDALONE LIBRARY.

UM, WE, WE, WE ALREADY KNOW AS A GROUP, WE'RE OUT OF SPACE.

UM, AND SO WE'RE, WE'RE, WE'RE FINDING WAYS TO BE AS, AS, UH, CREATIVE AS WE CAN ABOUT THAT.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A DESIGNATED CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA OR A HANDS-ON AREA BECAUSE WE HAVE SO MANY, UH, FRIENDS THAT, THAT COME AND, AND, YOU KNOW, THEY ARE, ARE THE, THE SELECTION THAT WE HAVE IN BOOKS IS WONDERFUL FOR OUR CHILDREN.

WE DON'T HAVE WHAT THEY MIGHT BE USED TO IF THEY'VE BEEN TO LIKE ROUND ROCK OR SEE NOW THE CEDAR PARK ONE, OR EVEN GEORGETOWN.

WE DON'T HAVE THE SPACE TO HAVE THAT HANDS-ON LEARNING.

AND WE KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THAT LEARNING IS.

AND SO WE'D LOVE TO BE ABLE TO OFFER THAT AT SOME POINT.

UM, ALSO MORE STAFF, BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH WE'VE INCREASED OUR PROGRAMS AS FAR AS LIKE TAKING OUT WHAT MAYBE WASN'T WORKING AND INSERTING YOU CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH BECAUSE THERE'S SEVEN OF US.

SO, UM, WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE, YOU KNOW, EVENTUALLY AS WE GROW, OUR STAFF GROWS AS WELL, SO THAT WE CAN OFFER EVEN MORE.

AND WE'D LOVE TO BE OPEN MORE HOURS IN THE EVENING ON, YOU KNOW, ON SLEEP ON SUNDAY.

THEY DID EXTEND SATURDAY HOURS, WHICH HAS BEEN WONDERFUL.

BUT WE WOULD LOVE TO BE OPEN EVEN MORE WITH PUBLIC, BECAUSE WE KNOW, ESPECIALLY IN THE EVENINGS WORKING FAMILIES, WE WOULD LOVE TO BE OPEN AND AVAILABLE FOR THEM TO USE OUR STUDY ROOMS AND ALL OF THOSE THINGS.

BUT WE CAN ONLY GO SO LATE, UM, WITH THE, WITH THE SEVEN EMPLOYEES THAT WE HAVE.

NOT LIKE THAT.

NOW YOU GUYS ARE GOING OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY WITH PROGRAMS, AND SO WE REMOVED STAFF OF THIS BUILDING, SO THAT'S WHAT TRICKY TOO.

BUT MOSTLY I'VE BEEN DOING THAT SIMPLY BECAUSE I KNOW LIKE THEY HAVE TO BE HERE, YOU KNOW? UM, I DO HAVE ONE PROGRAM WHERE I TAKE BUDDY OF ONE OF OUR, OUR STAFF MEMBERS TO THE TRAILS AT .

SHE HAS A HEART FOR CRAFTING, AND IT'S JUST FOR ONE HOUR.

BUT YES, AS WE INCREASE THOSE THINGS, IT REALLY WOULD BE NICE IF MORE PEOPLE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO EITHER GO WITH ME OR GO ON THEIR OWN.

UM, SO WHAT WE HAVE IN PROGRESS, UM, MS. HANNAH, I DON'T KNOW IF ANY OF YOU HAVE MET MS. HANNAH.

SHE, UM, HAS THIS HOMESCHOOL GROUP THAT SHE DOES AMAZING THINGS WITH.

AND THEY HAD A CAREER DAY RECENTLY.

AND WE HAD FIREFIGHTERS AND WE HAD EMTS AND WE HAD, UH, POLICE OFFICERS FROM THE COMMUNITY THAT CAME AND THEY TALKED TO, UH, THE KIDDOS AND THEY ALLOWED THE KIDS TO ASK QUESTIONS.

I GOT REAL, LIKE, WHENEVER THEY LIKE, DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, I'M LIKE, OH.

BUT, UM, WE WENT REALLY, REALLY WELL.

UM, AND WE LOVED HAVING THEM HERE AND THEY LOVED BEING HERE.

SO WE PLAN TO CONTINUE TO PARTNER WITH THEM.

UM, WHETHER IT BE, YOU KNOW, SPECIAL STORY TIME OR YOU KNOW, WHEN THE WEATHER'S NICE, YOU KNOW, MAYBE STORY TIME OUTSIDE, BUT WHERE THEY'RE RIGHT BY THE FIRE ENGINE OR SOMETHING.

I MEAN, THERE'S SO MANY THINGS THAT WE CAN DO AND THEY ARE SO WILLING TO, UM, TO HELP.

AND SO THAT IS GONNA BE A CONTINUED LEADERSHIP .

UH, SO, UH, THE INCREASE, UH, WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THIS.

WE ACTUALLY INCREASED 21.8%, YAY, WITHOUT LOVE EXCEEDING.

UM, SO WE'RE AT 65, 81.

WE HAVE, THESE ARE ACTIVE CARDHOLDERS.

WE HAVE OVER HOW MANY CARDHOLDERS? OVER 13,000.

OVER 13,000.

BUT THESE ARE, THESE ARE JUST THE ACTIVE ONES THAT ARE USING THAT, UM, THEIR CARDS REGULARLY.

UM, THE TEEN ADVISORY BOARD, I'M GONNA TALK ABOUT THAT JUST WELL A LITTLE BIT LONGER BECAUSE I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS.

SO, UM, I WENT TO HANNAH, OUR YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN, AND SHE RECOGNIZED THE E MORE TEAM PROGRAMMING, BUT ALSO THE TEEN PROGRAMMING THAT SHE HAD GOING, WASN'T BEING ATTENDED AS MUCH.

SO I DID A TON OF RESEARCH AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SHE AND I BOTH SAID WAS, TEEN ADVISORY BOARD SEEMS TO BE WHAT WE'RE SEEING COMING UP OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, BECAUSE IT'S REALLY MORE ABOUT OUR TEAMS DETERMINING THEIR OWN PROGRAMMING.

AND REALLY WE'RE JUST KIND OF FACILITATING, HELPING THEM FUND IT, YOU KNOW, HELPING THEM THINK OF LOGISTICS AND, AND TEACHING THEM HOW TO PLAN AN EVENT AND, AND BE READY FOR AN EVENT.

AND, UM, SO WE STARTED WITH OUR VOLUNTEERS, OUR TEAM VOLUNTEERS, AND THEN WE ASKED LIKE PATRONS THAT WE KNEW HAD TEAMS THEY'D BE INTERESTED.

AND I CAN'T REMEMBER HOW MANY PATRON THE FIRST MEETING, I WANNA SAY EIGHT OR NINE, BUT WE'RE NOW UP .

YEAH, WELL NOW WE'RE HAVING TO MEET IN HERE BECAUSE I THINK WE'RE AT 12.

BUT I WANNA SAY AFTER THAT FIRST MEETING, IT WAS, I WAS JUST SO EXCITED BECAUSE THEY CAME READY, THEY CAME READY WITH IDEAS, AND NOT JUST ANY IDEAS, LIKE IDEAS THAT THEY REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT THINGS TO DO FOR THE COMMUNITY, DIFFERENT KINDS OF DRIVES, UM, FUN PROGRAMMING, YOU KNOW, DIFFERENT THINGS LIKE THAT.

BUT THEY CAME WITH SO MANY IDEAS.

IT WAS LIKE TWO PAGES OF NOTES, YOU

[00:30:01]

KNOW, AND I HAVE, AND I SAY THIS AS A TEENAGER, WELL, I'M NOT A TEENAGER MOTHER, BUT A MOTHER OF TEENAGERS, .

UH, BUT THEY'RE DIFFICULT.

SO, UM, I KIND OF, I WAS THINKING ABOUT MY OWN TEENS AND I WAS THINKING, OH, THEY PROBABLY JUST SHOW UP AND BE LIKE, OH, NO, WHATEVER, YOU KNOW, BUT NO, THESE KIDDOS CAME, THEY WERE READY.

THEY HAD THESE GREAT IDEAS.

AND SO I'M IN A POSITION TO SAY, YES, HOW CAN WE HELP? LET'S, LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN WITH THE FUNDING.

UM, HOW CAN WE SUPPORT? AND SO I THINK HANNAH'S MET WITH THEM THREE TIMES NOW.

MM-HMM.

.

UM, THE ONES THAT ARE INTERESTED AND WHOSE PARENTS SAY HAVE SIGNED THE WAIVER ARE HELPING US WITH SOCIAL MEDIA TOO, WHICH IS REALLY FUN.

UM, WE DID, I THINK WE'VE DONE ONE VIDEO SO FAR, UM, AND IT WAS A, IT WAS LIBRARY PARK SIGNUP MONTH IN SEPTEMBER THAT THEY HAVE SOME GREAT IDEAS FOR THAT.

UM, AND WE ARE FINDING THAT THEY ARE, WE'RE NOT HAVING TO, UM, BEG THEM TO COME EVERY MONTH.

THEY'RE WANTING TO BE HERE, THEY'RE WANTING TO DO THIS.

THEY, UH, WE ARE JUST SO EXCITED ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE GONNA DO FOR THE COMMUNITY.

SO KEEP WATCHING OUR SOCIAL MEDIA.

WE'LL SHARE OUT ALL OF THE THINGS THAT THEY SPONSOR.

UM, IN OCTOBER, THEY ACTUALLY, UM, THEY DID, THEY WANTED TO DO THE DOMESTIC, UH, VIOLENCE AWARENESS DRIVE, WHICH WE DID HERE.

UM, AND THEY SHOWED UP FOR THE PROCLAMATION TOO, SO THEY COULD STAND AND BE PART OF THAT.

AND IT WAS JUST SO AMAZING TO SEE THEM STEP OUT LIKE THAT IN THE COMMUNITY, IN SUPPORT OF A CAUSE.

AND, UM, THE, UM, THE ISD GAVE THEM CHALLENGE COINS.

DO YOU GUYS PUT THOSE ON? OKAY.

THEY GAVE THEM CHALLENGE COINS.

IT'S SORT OF A THANK YOU.

AND THE RECOGNITION WE'RE DOING THAT.

SO WE'RE JUST A FEW MONTHS INTO THIS TEEN ADVISORY BOARD.

AND SO WE ARE JUST SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW IT PROGRESSES.

I HAVE A COUPLE QUESTIONS, IF THAT'S OKAY.

MM-HMM.

.

UM, SO JUST FOR PUBLIC INTEREST.

MM-HMM.

.

IF SOMEONE WANTED TO JOIN THE TEEN ADVISORY BOARD, WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS AND HOW DO THEY SIGN UP? WELL, WE HAVE THAT.

IT'S, IT'S ONLINE.

YES.

WE HAVE APPLICATIONS IN THE LIBRARY AND AVAILABLE ON SITE.

BELIEVE WE HAVE, MAKE SURE ON THE BOARD, OKAY.

GETS, AND HANNAH DOES A REALLY GREAT JOB WITH, UM, 'CAUSE WE HAVE SUCH A DIVERSE GROUP, SO SHE HAS MULTIPLE THINGS GOING SO KIDS DON'T FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE TO WORK ON ONE SPECIFIC THING.

SHE'LL, SHE'LL HAVE LIKE THREE THINGS GOING, IF YOU WANNA WORK ON THIS, HERE'S THIS IF YOU WANNA WORK SO THAT THEY HAVE CHOICE.

UM, AND SO THAT TIME IT GOES LIKE QUICKLY.

AND BY THE TIME, YOU KNOW, IT'S OVER WITH, THEY'RE LIKE, OH, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE, THEY DON'T WANNA GO, YOU KNOW? UM, SO SHE DOES A REALLY GREAT JOB.

SO DON'T FEEL LIKE IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT SIGNING UP, DON'T THINK THAT YOU'RE GONNA BE TOLD WHAT TO DO.

'CAUSE THAT'S NOT THE ENVIRONMENT THAT WE'RE WORKING IN HERE.

WE ARE LISTENING TO YOU.

WE WANNA HEAR FROM YOU.

WE WANNA GIVE YOU CHOICE AND AUTONOMY IN THIS, IN THIS PROGRAM.

SO, UM, THAT'S, THAT'S IMPORTANT TO US.

GET THAT MESSAGE ACROSS.

THANK YOU.

UP.

WHEN YOU SAY TEENS, ARE WE TALKING 13 TO 19? MM-HMM.

.

SO UP UNTIL LIKE THEIR 20TH BIRTHDAY, THEY'RE STILL, WHAT IS YOUR TARGET NUMBER FOR THE GROUP? IS THERE, I THINK WE, HONESTLY, WE WERE JUST LIKE, OH, THREE KIDS SHOW UP.

SO WE'RE, WE, WE'VE ALREADY EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS, BUT WE WILL ACCOMMODATE WHAT WHOEVER COMES.

SO, UM, I THINK WE'RE AT 12 NOW.

WE HAD TO MOVE FROM MEETING IN A, THIS ONE OF THE STUDY ROOMS TO MEETING IN HERE NOW, UH, WHICH IS A GREAT PROBLEM TO HAVE, KNOW WE WANT 'EM TO KEEP COMING.

AND, UM, I'M JUST SO EXCITED ABOUT THE PROGRAMMING THAT THEY, THAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT.

LIKE, I WANNA GET THIS PROGRAM.

THIS SOUNDS FUN.

UH, SO JUST LOOK THROUGH OUR SOCIAL MEDIA.

A LOT OF YOU ARE, I CAN SEE YOU SHARING OUR THINGS THAT'S SO IMPORTANT.

I'M NOT A MATH PERSON, BUT I KNOW THE ALGORITHMS IN FACEBOOK, IF YOU SHARE, THE MORE GETS SHARED, THE MORE IT'S VISIBLE TO OTHER GROUPS AND PEOPLE.

SO THAT'S, THAT'S REALLY BEEN HELPING.

WE'VE GAINED SO MANY DIFFERENT FOLLOWERS AND OUR ENGAGEMENT ON OUR GRAPHS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA IS LIKE, WHAT ON EVERY SINGLE CRITERIA.

SO THAT'S BEEN REALLY WELL, UH, OUR SENIOR PROGRAMMING IS GOING REALLY WELL.

I LOVE THE, THIS BOOK CLUB, UM, AND THE, THE GOLD, WE'RE CALLING IT GOLDEN TOUCH CRAFTS.

UM, THE BOOK CLUB IS HILARIOUS.

UM, I LOOK FORWARD, UM, TO MEETING WITH THEM EVERY TWO WEEKS.

UM, WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF, I THINK OUR NEXT MEETING.

WE'RE FINISHING A BOOK AND CHOOSING OUR NEXT BOOK.

UM, AND, UH, WE HAVE A GREAT GROUP.

AND, UM, IT'S THE SAME PEOPLE THAT COME TO THE BOOK CLUB THAT COME TO THE CRAFT, BUT THAT'S OKAY.

UH, BECAUSE THEY ARE, THEY ARE LIKE, WE'RE GOING TO GET MORE PEOPLE.

WE DOORS, WE'RE GONNA DO THIS.

AND SO, UM, WE WENT, UH, FOR OUR GOLDEN TOUCH CRAFTS AND WE KIND OF APPROACHED IT LIKE, HERE'S A CRAFT THAT YOU CAN DO IF YOU WANT TO, LIKE A TAKE AND MAKE, LIKE WE HAD ALL THE MATERIALS AND SO YOU CAN JUST SHOW UP

[00:35:01]

OR YOU CAN BRING SOMETHING THAT YOU'RE ALREADY WORKING ON OR KNITTING OR PUSHING OR WHATEVER.

AND WE COULD JUST TALK.

AND WE HAD BEST CONVERSATIONS.

THAT WAS, UH, I, I COLORED ACTUALLY, WHICH I NEVER GET TO DO ANYMORE.

AND SO I WAS FEELING JUST VERY ZEN AND WE WERE HAVING THESE GREAT CONVERSATIONS.

UM, AND SO I KNOW THAT EVERY MONTH THAT'S GOING TO, UM, INCREASE IN PARTICIPATION TO THIS AS THEY KIND OF TALK TO EACH OTHER, GET THE WORD OUT.

SO, UM, PROJECT OUTCOME, I'M ACTUALLY GONNA SHOW YOU A LITTLE, IT'S, I THINK IT'S ABOUT FIVE MINUTE VIDEO JUST TO KIND OF INTRODUCE YOU TO THAT.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I'VE BEEN DOING IS THOSE SURVEYS THAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, THE STUDY ROOM SURVEY FOR PATIENTS, CDS FOR PROGRAMMING.

AND ALTHOUGH WE ARE GETTING PEOPLE TO, UM, ANSWER AND WE ARE GETTING GREAT FEEDBACK, IT'S NOT NEAR AS MANY PEOPLE AS ARE USING THE SETTING ROOM OR ARE COMING TO OUR PROGRAMMING.

UM, AND THE FEASIBILITY STUDY, WE WERE REALLY HOPING FOR, BECAUSE IT'S SO ROBUST, WE WERE GOING TO BE ABLE TO PULL DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COMMUNITY THAT WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REACH BECAUSE WE CAN REALLY JUST REACH OUR LIBRARY PRE INTERNS RIGHT NOW.

UM, AND SO, UH, I HAD GONE TO A TRAINING OVER THE SUMMER AND I WAS SO GLAD THAT I HAD JUST GONE UP AND GONE TO IT BECAUSE IT'S WHAT POPPED INTO MY HEAD WHENEVER CITY COUNCIL WAS LIKE, SO, UH, IT'S CALLED PROJECT OUTCOME.

AND IT'S OFFERED THROUGH THE AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION UNDER THEIR PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSOCIATION UMBRELLA.

AND IT IS A FREE PROGRAM TO LIKE FREE, IT'S NOT AS ROBUST AS A, UM, AS A FEASIBILITY STUDY.

UH, BUT I'M TEACHING MY STAFF HOW WE CAN CREATE OUR OWN, UH, SURVEYS AND IT'S ALL HOUSED IN THIS ONE AREA, AND I'LL SHOW IT TO YOU IN A MINUTE.

AND THE REASON THAT THAT'S IMPORTANT IS THAT ALL OF US CAN SEE IT AND WE COULD PULL IT UP LIKE THAT.

SO IF SOMEONE WERE TO COME IN AND SAY, WELL, WHAT IS THE INCREASE IN IN BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, IT PUTS IT ALL OF, ALL OF OUR DATA INTO BEAUTIFUL GRAPHS AND CHARTS.

AND SO THAT WE HAVE THAT INFORMATION AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE, WE CAN SHARE IT WITH, UM, CITY COUNCIL.

AND HONESTLY, I KNOW THAT IF YOU'RE, LIKE, IF YOU'RE SOMEBODY WHO ISN'T IN THE LIBRARY WORLD, RIGHT, AND YOU WANT DATA AND THINGS LIKE THAT, YOU'RE GONNA TRUST THE DATA THAT COMES FROM THE AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION.

'CAUSE EVERYBODY KNOWS WHAT A LA IS AND IT'S, YOU KNOW, IT'S A NATIONAL, UH, CORPORATION.

SO, UM, I FEEL LIKE IT WILL BE RECEIVED BETTER, YOU KNOW, THROUGH, THROUGH THIS PROGRAM.

SO I'M GONNA, UH, KIND OF GIVE YOU A LITTLE, UM, OUTLINE OF THAT HERE IN A LITTLE BIT.

AND THAT'S KINDA, I, ALL I DID WAS ADD MOVING THE PROJECT OUTCOME.

WHAT WE'RE ALREADY DOING IS OUR QR CODES, UH, WE DID PRINT OFF PAPER COPIES FOR THOSE THAT DON'T WANT TO USE THEIR DEVICES OR DO THE QR CODES.

SO WE DO HAVE PEOPLE THAT SUBMIT THE PAPER PENCIL SURVEYS AS WELL.

UM, SO, UH, I'M GONNA TALK TO YOU GUYS TODAY ABOUT THESE POLICY CHANGES THAT ARE IMPORTANT.

UM, ONE IS IN REGARDS TO OUR OTHERWISE THE EMPLOYEES, AND THE OTHER ONE IS IN REGARD TO A PROGRAM, UM, IN TEXAS CALLED TECH SHARES.

ANYBODY FAMILIAR WITH TECH SHARE? SO I'LL TALK MORE ABOUT THAT.

UM, AND THEN THESE ARE ALL OF GROUPS THAT I'VE REACHED OUT TO AND WE HAVE SOME SORT OF CONNECTION WITH AS, AS FAR AS, UH, PARTNERING, UM, SOME, FOR EXAMPLE, UM, THE HOW DO ISC PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT.

OUR CONNECTION WITH THEM IS THEY ARE ON THOSE, I, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY CALL 'EM, I THINK THE FRIDAY WELCOME FOR, FOR NEW FAMILIES.

SO OUR LIBRARY INFORMATION, OUR BROCHURE IS IN THERE.

UM, AND THEN THEY'RE ALSO SHARING OUR POSTS AND WE ARE SHARING THEIR POSTS.

AND THAT'S HOW, THAT'S OUR PARTNERSHIP.

SO PARTNERSHIP CAN BE FROM, WE'VE JUST STARTED.

AND SO WE'RE ONLY GONNA TRY A COUPLE OF THINGS TO, UM, YOU KNOW, PULL ON JUMPING IN.

UM, FINDING BALANCE YOGA DOES OUR YOGA ONCE A MONTH AND OUR STORY TIME YOGA, UM, AND THE, UM, THE TRUE CRIME BOOK CLUB.

WE ONLY HAVE HAD ONE MEETINGS FAR WITH SO MUCH FUN.

UH, AND SO OUR NEXT MEETING, UM, IS, LET'S SEE, THEY'RE THE SECOND THURSDAYS OF EVERY MONTH.

UM, BUT WE'VE, WE HAVE, UM, MET WITH EACH ONE OF THESE GROUPS AND WE'RE CONTINUING TO ADD TO THE LIST.

I ACTUALLY TALKED TO SOMEBODY FROM WORK FOR SOLUTIONS TODAY, AND WE'RE GONNA, UM, OFFER THINGS LIKE JOB SKILLS AND RESUME BUILDING STARTING IN THE NEW YEAR.

SO I HAVE TO SAY, IT IS SO EXCITING TO SEE THAT SYNERGY MOVING, BECAUSE WHILE WE HAD SOME OF THOSE CONVERSATIONS ALMOST IN A VACUUM, IT'S NEAT TO SEE THOSE IDEAS KIND OF TAKE LIGHT AND GET LEGS AND ACTUALLY DO THINGS.

SO THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT VISION.

AND OF COURSE, WELL, AND I'VE, I'VE JUST BEEN SO IMPRESSED WITH EVERY SINGLE ORGANIZATION THAT I'VE REACHED OUT TO HAS BEEN RECEPTIVE

[00:40:01]

AND THEY WANNA HELP, WHETHER THAT BE SHARING OUR FACEBOOK POSTS OR LET'S DO, UM, A PROGRAM TOGETHER SO EVERYBODY HAS BEEN WILLING TO HELP.

SO THIS IS JUST KIND OF, YOU KNOW, UM, THESE ARE THE MAIN ROLES OF, UM, I REMEMBER WE HAD A CONVERSATION THE LAST TIME ABOUT WHAT, HERE'S THE, I THINK IT WAS WRITTEN IN 2010 OR 2012 OR WHATEVER, AND THERE WERE SOME THINGS IN THERE THAT DIDN'T PERTAIN TO US, BUT EVERYBODY'S DIFFERENT.

SO IT WAS JUST SORT OF THIS COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF WHAT IT COULD BE.

SO, UM, BASED ON OUR NEEDS HERE, UM, AT, UM, AT PUBLIC LIBRARY, ATTEND COMMUNITY EVENTS, LIKE MORGAN ALREADY SAID THAT IF YOU COULD ATTEND THOSE EVENTS OR INVITE OTHERS TO ATTEND THOSE EVENTS, UM, ADVOCATE FOR LIBRARY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WITH COMMUNITY AND CITY COUNCIL.

I'M, I, EVERY SINGLE MONTH I INVITE CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR TO OUR PROGRAMS. UM, YOU KNOW, THINGS LIKE THAT HAVEN'T BEEN SUCCESSFUL JUST YET, BUT I'M GONNA KEEP MOVING ON.

I'M, I EVEN HAVE THIS SORT OF LIKE A, I'M THINKING OF A MAYOR CITY COUNCIL STORY TIME IN THE FUTURE, , UH, BUT THEY'RE TERRIBLE.

YES, , YES.

UM, BUT ACTUALLY LAST WEEK TONY AND I MET WITH THE HEAD OF CITIZENS UNIVERSITY OF Y'ALL ARE FAMILIAR, ME SUCH A GREAT, HUGE GROUP OF PEOPLE.

AND, UH, ONE OF THE QUESTIONS THAT I GOT WAS, HOW CAN WE HELP? LIKE, IF WE CAN'T SHOW UP AT CITY COUNCIL OR, YOU KNOW, THAT SORT OF STUFF, HOW CAN WE HELP? AND MY NUMBER ONE ANSWER IS TALK ABOUT US.

TALK ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS. WORD OF MOUTH IS OUR BEST, UM, ADVERTISING, UH, MECHANISM.

UH, YOU KNOW, I HAVE FRIENDS THAT LIVE LIKE, MAYBE NOT IN , BUT LIKE IT, I EVEN SENT PROGRAMMING STUFF OUT TO THEM KIND OF, BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A LIBRARY CARD TO ATTEND OUR PROGRAM.

SO MY FRIENDS THAT LIVE IN OR GEORGETOWN OR FLICKERVILLE, I'M LIKE, GREAT, ARE THE KID I KNOW, I KNOW YOUR KID LOVES POKEMON.

WHY ARE THESE POKEMON EVENTS? SO JUST SHARING THAT INFORMATION OUT AND THEN GRANT WRITING EVENTUALLY, UM, BECAUSE, UM, IT SAT THROUGH OF A BUDGET SEASON.

I HAVE ONE BUDGET SEASON UNDER BELT, SO WE'RE GOING TO NEED THAT.

UM, AND WE'RE ACTUALLY, UM, HANNAH IS WORKING ON THE GRANT RIGHT NOW.

UM, AND SO OF COURSE WE CAN, WE CAN STILL WRITE GRANTS, BUT THIS MAY BE SOMETHING LIKE, WE HAVE A PROGRAM THAT YOU GUYS HAVE HEARD ABOUT AND YOU REALLY WANNA MAKE HAPPEN, AND THERE'S A GRANT THAT'S ATTACHED TO IT.

THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE CAN DO COLLECTIVELY AS A GROUP.

UM, AND THEN LIBRARY STAFF, UM, INCREASED IN MODIFIED PROGRAMMING, DATA COLLECTION, COMMUNITY OUTREACH EFFORTS, UTILIZING CURRENT SPACE AS WELL AS SPACES IN THE COMMUNITY.

ALL RIGHT.

SO MY QUESTIONS FOR YOU IS, AND THIS MAY NOT BE SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN ANSWER NOW, MAYBE THIS IS JUST A, LET'S MU OVER THIS AND TALK ABOUT IT NEXT TIME WE MEET, BUT WHAT ARE TWO OR THREE AREAS THAT YOU GUYS WANNA FOCUS ON? WOULD IT BE COMMUNITY EVENTS? WOULD IT BE, UM, DATA COLLECTION, SOMETHING DIFFERENT? WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE NEEDS OF THE BOARD AND WHAT TRAINING WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE AVAILABLE IN THE SPRING? WE DID THAT ONE TRAINING LAST TIME.

UH, I REMEMBER THE WOMAN WAS FROM MIDWEST AND THEY'RE NOT BORN.

I REMEMBER THAT.

BUT, UM, .

BUT, UH, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WANNA HAVE TRAINING ON THE SPRING? SO IT LOOKS LIKE TANYA HAS I WRITING.

PERFECT.

I THINK IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR US TO GET KIND OF, UM, SOME FRAMEWORK ON WHAT ADVOCACY COULD LOOK LIKE.

I THINK THAT MAY BE BENEFICIAL.

I KNOW THAT WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN RELATIONSHIPS WITH DIFFERENT COMMUNITY LEADERS THAT HOW CAN WE, UM, ADVOCATE FOR THE LIBRARY.

YES.

AND REALLY MOST PEOPLE, WHEN I SAY ADVOCATE, I'M NOT THINKING GRAND SCALE.

LIKE I'M NOT THINKING A, A A A, A NEW BUILDING, YOU KNOW, NOT RIGHT THIS SECOND BECAUSE WE HAVE NEEDS THAT WE NEED RIGHT NOW.

LIKE TO THE MOMENT.

SO ADVOCACY COULD BE A COME TO OUR PROGRAM MEETING.

THEY COULD MAKE A TIME LOOK AT THE, UM, THE EVENTS CALENDAR AND PUT A FEW THINGS ON YOUR FAMILY CALENDAR AND COMMIT TO GOING INTO THOSE THINGS.

OR, UM, IF YOU HAVING TO RUN INTO, YOU KNOW, SOMEBODY FROM THE COUNSELOR OR SOMETHING, HEY, WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO WITH ME TO, UM, THIS PROGRAM, WHATEVER.

UM, SO STARTING ADVOCACY REALLY MOSTLY STARTING FROM JUST OUR GRASSROOTS, LIKE OF OUR PROGRAMMING, GETTING THAT WORD OUT.

BECAUSE I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT THAT EVERYONE HAS AN AWARENESS IN THE COMMUNITY THAT THE LIBRARY IS NOT JUST A BOOK.

.

I MEAN, YES, OF COURSE LITERACY IS IMPORTANT TO US.

I'M NOT SWEEP THAT UNDER THE RUG BY ANY MEANS.

THE COMMUNITY AND CONNECTION IS REALLY WHY WE'RE HERE MORE SO THAN ANY OTHER REASON.

AND SO, SO THAT THERE'S AN AWARENESS, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE HERE FOR.

NOT JUST FOR BOOKS.

'CAUSE SOME PEOPLE WILL SAY, WELL, I, I DON'T LIKE TO READ.

OH, YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ TO COME TO OUR PROGRAMS. LIKE, WOULD

[00:45:01]

YOU LIKE TO GUARDIAN? YOU LIKE TO, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER IT MAY BE.

SO JUST THAT AWARENESS THAT'S MOST IMPORTANT TO ME.

ADVOCACY FOR US, SOMETHING THAT REALLY STUCK WITH ME IS THAT I THINK, UM, WE HEAR A LOT OF, YOU KNOW, LIKE SUGGESTIONS ABOUT HOW CAN WE DIVERS DIVERSIFY OUR OFFERING, LIKE WHAT IT IS THAT WE DO NOW.

BECAUSE TO YOUR POINT, THE LIBRARY IS NOT JUST A PLACE WHERE BOOKS ARE MM-HMM.

.

UM, AND THAT'S, I THINK LIKE THE, THE EVOLUTION OF A MODERN LIBRARY IS KINDA GOING THROUGH THAT GROWING PAIN AS WELL.

THAT BEING SAID, WE'VE LISTENED TO THE STATISTICS ABOUT CIRCULATION BY FAR, ABOVE AND BEYOND THE PHYSICAL, TACTILE CIRCULATION IS, THAT'S WHERE OF USE.

YEAH.

MORE SO THAN THE DIGITAL I WOULD SAY.

IT'S NOT BEING UTILIZED.

THAT WAS VERY STRIKING.

MM-HMM.

.

I THINK AS WE CONTINUE TO REMOVE BARRIERS, LIKE I'M WITH THE POLICY CHANGES TONIGHT, WE CONTINUED TO MAKE THIS, UM, WELCOME AND OPEN SPACE FOR PEOPLE.

I, I HAD TO KIND OF GIGGLE TO MYSELF THE OTHER DAY BECAUSE FOR MY OFFICES, I CAN HEAR EVERYTHING THAT'S HAPPENING AT THE CIRCULATION DESK.

I CAN HEAR ALL THE CUTE, YOU KNOW, LITTLE KIDS STATEMENTS OR THE FUNNY THINGS THAT PEOPLE SAY BECAUSE GENTLEMAN LAST WEEK HE SIGNED UP, CAME IN AND HE WAS LIKE, YOU SIGN UP FOR A LIBRARY CARD TO SEE THEY HAVE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE WHOLE STAFF.

AND THEY GOT HIM SIGNED UP AND, AND SO THEY HAD TOLD HIM WE'RE, WE'LL GET EVERYTHING READY IF YOU WANNA GO AHEAD AND START LOOKING.

HE'S LIKE, WHAT, TWO, THREE WEEKS? AND THEY SAID 20.

AND HE GOES LIKE, HE EXPLAINED 20 WHAT? MY GOODNESS.

IT'S UM, JUST KIND OF LAUGHING.

AND I THOUGHT THAT'S THE EXCITEMENT THAT'S, WE WANT EVERYONE TO FEEL WHEN THEY COME IN HERE, WHETHER IT'S BOOK RELATED OR PROGRAM RELATED.

LIKE WE JUST WANT THEM TO BE EXCITED TO BE IN THIS SPACE AND WANNA BE HERE.

SO I KNOW I GOT OFF ON A LITTLE TANGENT WITH THAT, BUT STOP.

YEAH.

IT'S ALL.

ALRIGHT.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT ANY OF THE STUFF THAT WAS IN THAT PRESENTATION? I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

I APPRECIATE YOU PULLING ALL THAT TOGETHER.

I THINK A REQUEST THAT I WOULD HAVE IF I KNOW THAT YOU SEND OUT LIKE A MONTHLY EMAIL, SO MAYBE POSE THAT QUESTION AGAIN AS A REMINDER, WHAT ARE THE THINGS THAT WE WANNA FOCUS ON? WE ONLY BE QUARTERLY, RIGHT? MM-HMM.

.

UM, AND SO MAYBE THAT'LL GIVE PEOPLE SOME THINK TIME TO CONSIDER WHAT THOSE THINGS WOULD BE.

ABSOLUTELY.

AND JUST AS A COURTESY, IF THERE'S ANY, IF THERE'S EVER A QUESTION AND KRISTEN'S REALLY GOOD ABOUT NOTATING, LIKE THESE ARE THE THINGS I WANT RESPONSES FROM, PLEASE DO HER COURTESY AND RESPOND.

EITHER I DON'T HAVE ANY FEEDBACK JUST SO SHE KNOWS THAT YOU'RE GIVING ME EMAILS.

SO SOMETIMES I THINK HER EMAIL REC RECEDING AND A LITTLE BIT MONTHLY.

ALL RIGHT.

SO THIS, THIS, UM, IS THE NEXT THING, UM, BY 0.5.

SO I JUST BASICALLY PUT THIS INTO ONE PLACE.

IT IS ALSO GOING TO BE IN OUR ANTONIO WILL GO OVER THIS IN OUR ONBOARDING, UH, FINDER.

UM, I LOOKED AT EVERY SINGLE THING THAT WE HAD IN THAT ANCIENT MANUAL PLUS WHAT'S IN OUR ORDINANCE THAT WE'RE GONNA KIND OF GO OVER, UH, TONIGHT.

AND THEN WHAT IS ON THE WEBSITE ADVERTISING WHAT THE LIBRARY ADVISOR LOOKS.

SO I SORT OF MESHED ALL THREE OF THOSE THINGS.

AND THIS IS KIND OF WHAT WE CAME UP WITH.

AND SO AS YOU CAN SEE, WE'RE ALL VERY BUSY.

BUT WHAT YOU'LL SEE A LOT IS THE WORD ADVOCATE, ASSIST, ADVISE, ATTEND.

OH, I KNOW ALL A REDIRECTS THOUGH.

I THINK THAT'S A SOMETHING TO YES.

THERE'S NO GIVING DIRECTION, NO THIRD SUPPORT.

UM, ACTIVE PARTICIPATION ASSIST, UM, PARTICIPATE, MAINTAINING.

SO THOSE ARE ALL, UM, SORT OF ADJECTIVES MEAN, OR EXCUSE ME, THAT WENT ALONG WITH LIBRARY BUDGET BOARD.

UM, MINE IS ALSO ADVOCATE, PROMOTE, UM, ASSIST PROVIDE.

UM, AND SO WHEN I WANNA MAKE CHANGES TO THINGS, I WILL COME TO YOU GUYS AS MY GROUP AND SAY, HEY, THIS IS WHAT I'M THINKING.

UM, WHAT DO YOU THINK? WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR ME? DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A GOOD MOVE OR SHOULD WE APPROACH IT IN A DIFFERENT WAY? YOU KNOW, THAT SORT OF THING.

ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT? OKAY.

SO I THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE A HANDY HAND RESOURCE.

OKAY, SO THE POLICY CHANGES, UM, ARE IN YOUR PACKETS.

DID WE NEED TO APPROVE THIS? THIS IS JUST FOR INFORMATION.

NO RECOMMENDATION.

MM-HMM.

.

SO FOR THE POLICY CHANGES, THERE'S TWO AREAS THAT I'VE SEEN, UM, IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS THAT I THOUGHT WE NEEDED TO CHANGE AND NEED.

I'M GONNA BE REAL HONEST WITH YOU.

I ALREADY ALLOWED ONE OF THEM TO HAPPEN BECAUSE WHY DO I ALLOWED BOTH OF 'EM TO HAPPEN? LEMME JUST SAY THAT BECAUSE I'M THE KIND OF PERSON WHERE, UM, I DON'T LIKE TO SAY NO WHEN SOMEBODY WANTS TO USE OUR RESOURCES.

I JUST DON'T SEE A GOOD REASON TO SAY NO.

UM,

[00:50:01]

BUT I'D LIKE TO FORMALLY CHANGE THEM AND OUR POLICY DOCUMENTS.

ONE, UM, OUR HU ISD EMPLOYEES, WE HAVE SO MANY THAT, AND I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS UNTIL I MET WITH THE HU ISD LIBRARIANS.

WE HAVE SO MANY EMPLOYEES THAT DON'T LIVE IN HU AND SO WE HAVE RESOURCES THAT THEY CAN USE AND SO, AND THINGS THAT THEY MAY NOT HAVE ON THEIR OWN CAMPUSES.

AND WE WANT IT TO BE SORT OF A FREE FLOW WHERE WE CAN ALL USE EACH OTHER'S RESOURCES.

SO, UM, I WANNA, I WANNA ADD THAT LANGUAGE THAT HOW DO ISD EMPLOYEES NO MATTER WHERE THEY LIVE, UM, CAN GET A FREE LIBRARY.

AND THE OTHER CHANGE THAT I WANTED TO MAKE, THE TECH SHARE CARD, SO I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THIS BECAUSE CURRENTLY WE HAVE IN OUR POLICY THAT A PERSON HAS TO BE 18 YEARS OF AGE.

THERE'S SOME OTHER STIPULATIONS, LIKE THEY HAVE TO BE IN GOOD STANDING AND HAD A LIBRARY CARD FOR TWO MONTHS, YOU KNOW, THAT SORT OF THING.

I'D LIKE TO REDUCE THE AGE TO 16 SIMPLY BECAUSE WE HAVE A LOT OF KIDDOS IN THE COMMUNITY THAT ARE HOMESCHOOLING OR THEY HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL EARLIER AND THEY'RE ALREADY MOVING ON TO COLLEGE.

AND, UH, I WANTED THEM TO BE ABLE TO USE OUR RESOURCES.

UM, AND SO IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, A LIBRARY CAN DETERMINE THE AGE AT WHICH THEY ALLOW FOR A TECH SHARE CARD.

I DID SOME RESEARCH, YOU KNOW, AUSTIN, GEORGETOWN, ROUND ROCK, UM, ARE ALL ALLOWING THEIR AGE OF 16.

AND SO I'D LIKE TO DO THAT AS WELL.

UM, AND THIS CAME UP BECAUSE WE HAD SOMEONE, UH, WHO WAS 16 THAT CAME IN, WAS IN GREAT STANDING, HAD A LIBRARY CARD FOR A LONG TIME, UM, A STUDENT.

UM, AND SO WANTED TO BE ABLE TO USE OTHER LIBRARIES THAT WERE SPECIFIC TO HIS STUDIES, UM, IN THE AUSTIN AREA AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND SO OF COURSE I SAID YES AND UM, I NOT TEXT.

SO THOSE ARE THE TWO CHANGES THAT I WOULD LIKE TO INFORCE TO BE DISCUSSED.

I HAVEN'T, GO AHEAD JAMES.

I JUST WANTED TO ASK A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MR. CHAMBERS ON TEXTURE.

MM-HMM.

.

UM, I'M GOING TO, WAS IT SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE'S COMING IN LOOKING FOR OIL AND THEY, THEY JUST OPENED UP A LOT CARD WITH THE, UH, KEY TO SACRAMENTO.

OKAY, THANKS.

THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

UM, SO THE TEXTURE CARD IS, UM, DO YOU KNOW, KNOW WHAT? IT'S RIGHT, IT'S SEPARATE FROM, OKAY, WELL THEN LET ME START THERE.

HOW ABOUT THAT? OKAY.

WE HAVE OUR HEAD OF PUBLIC LIBRARY CARD AND WE HAVE OUR STIPULATIONS OR WHATEVER THE TEXTURE CARD IS FOR THE STATE OF TEXAS AND ALMOST, WELL, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LIBRARIES THAT PARTICIPATE, BUT NOT EVERY LIBRARY DOES, BUT MOST IN OUR AREA.

SO WHAT THAT MEANS IS IF I'M A HU RESIDENT AND I HAVE A HU PUBLIC LIBRARY CARD, I CAN APPLY FOR, UM, A TECH SHARE CARD, IT'S FREE.

AND THAT MEANS I CAN GO, WHEN I'M IN AUSTIN AND I WANNA STOP AT AUSTIN PUBLIC LIBRARY, I CAN, UM, CHECK OUT BOOKS FROM THEM WITHOUT BEING IN AUSTIN RESIDENT.

I WANNA GO TO ROUND DROP AND CHECK OUT WHO NON DROP I CAN DO THAT.

SO IT'S SORT OF LIKE THIS VIP, BUT IT'S FREE, UM, KIND OF CARD.

UM, AND SO A LOT OF OTHER LIBRARIES, THE TWO MONTH STIPULATION, THE ONLY REASON I DIDN'T REMOVE THAT WAS BECAUSE MOST OTHER PLACES DIDN'T REMOVE THEIRS.

AND WHEN I CALLED TO ASK WHY THEIR EXPLANATION, WELL, WE DON'T WANNA CHECK OUT BOOKS TO A HU RESIDENT THAT'S NOT AN AUSTIN PUBLIC LIBRARY RESIDENT OR AN AUSTIN RESIDENT IF THEY HAVEN'T AT LEAST USED A LIBRARY FOR TWO MONTHS, IF THAT MAKES SENSE.

AND SO THAT MAKES SENSE TO ME.

UM, BUT AGAIN, UM, THAT COULD BE SOMETHING THAT WE REMOVE AS WELL.

DO THEY STILL DO I THINK OF IT AS LIKE IN OUR OFFICE MAIL, LIKE IF I WANTED TO VOTE SOME CEDAR PARK, I GO WITH THE REQUEST AND IT COULD BE DELIVERED HERE, HERE.

IS THAT STILL SOMETHING IN YOUR LIBRARY? IT'S SEPARATE FROM A TEXT.

OKAY.

BUT IT'S PART OF OUR ACCREDITATION THAT WE ARE ALLOWED TO DO THIS AND ACCREDITATION IS SOMETHING WE HAVE TO EARN.

UM, AND THAT'S SOMETHING WE'LL TALK ABOUT IN ANOTHER MEETING IN THE, IT'S, IT IS A VERY LONG LIST OF THINGS, UM, THAT WE HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SAY, YES, WE DO THAT.

YES, WE OFFER THAT.

YES, WE HAVE THAT.

AND WHERE IT'S GOING TO GET ROCKY IS IF WE CAN CONTINUE OR TO NOT GROW AS HU GROWS AND NOT BY US, I MEAN THE LIBRARY, UM, THEN IT'S GONNA BE HARDER AND HARDER FOR US TO GET THAT ACCREDITATION.

AND THEN WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO OFFER IL TECH SHARE, YOU KNOW, THINGS LIKE THAT, THAT THE ACCREDITATION WAS THE ONE.

I THINK I MENTIONED THAT AT OUR LAST MEETING.

UH, THEY USED TO BREAK IT UP IN SECTIONS AND SO EVERY MEETING AND SOMETIMES WE WOULD DO SPECIAL MEETINGS BECAUSE IT WAS SO LONG.

MM-HMM.

.

AND SO EACH MEETING WE WOULD GO OVER A DIFFERENT ONE OR TWO SECTIONS DEPENDING ON HOW LONG IT WAS AS A GROUP TO DETERMINE LIKE WHERE WE WERE AT WITH THAT.

IF WE NEEDED TO IMPROVE ON THINGS, I WOULD LIKE THE FULL BOARD TO BE TRAINED

[00:55:01]

ON THAT BECAUSE THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT WAS LIKE MY FIRST MEETING AS THE CHAIR I HAD OF SIGN.

OH.

SO, UM, I THINK IT WOULD BE GOOD JUST FOR LIKE CAPACITY BUILDING AND IN GENERAL.

MM-HMM.

UM, BACK TO THE TECH SHARE CARD.

MM-HMM.

, I, ONE THING I HAVE IS ABOUT LIKE WOULD THAT 16-YEAR-OLD NEED PARENT PERMISSION OR IS THE APPLICATION THE PARENT PERMISSION TO GET AN APPLICATION ENCOMPASSING THAT OPPORTUNITY AS WELL? YES, IT DOES.

UM, IT DOES ENCOMPASS THAT AS LONG AS THEY HAVE THE LIBRARY CARDS, REALLY JUST US GIVING THEM THE, THE TECH SHARE APPLICATION, HAVING THEM FILL IT OUT AND SPLITTING THAT, UM, INTO THE DATABASE.

OKAY.

SO DOES THEIR CURRENT APPLICATION INDICATE LIKE, WILL WE UPDATE THE PAGE, WILL WE UPDATE THE APPLICATION TO INDICATE THAT THE PARENT SIGNATURE ON THE APPLICATION ALSO CONSENTS TO THE TEXT SHARE? YES.

OKAY.

ABSOLUTELY.

WITH THAT IN MIND, DO YOU, YOU SAID THAT THE TEEN ADVISORY BOARD, I'M GONNA BACKTRACK FOR JUST A SECOND, BUT IT CLICKED.

YOU SAID THAT PARENTS LIKE TO SIGN OFF FOR TEEN ADVISORY BOARD, BUT WHAT ABOUT OUR 16, 17, 18-YEAR-OLD 19-YEAR-OLD AND TEAM ADVISORY BOARD DO THE 18 UP TO MAKE FORENSIC SIGNATURES? NO, THEY DO NOT.

UM, BECAUSE THEY, THEY'RE CONSIDERED ADULTS.

UM, BUT WE DON'T HAVE ANY THAT ARE THAT AGE.

SO I THINK I, IN, WHEN I WAS SAYING THAT IT WAS JUST ALL OF OUR KIDDOS, UM, ARE UNDER THAT AGE.

BUT IF THEY ARE AN ADULT THAT KNOW I DON'T HAVE TO HAVE EVERYTH PARENTS AND, UM, ONE THING I, OUR APPLICATION WILL SAY TO 16 GOING REPORT, THEY'RE 16 BY OUR .

UM, THEY FIND THEIR PART, BUT WE ONLINE OUR APPLICATION OR, SO THAT CHANGES THE ANSWER THEN.

SO I THAT I MIGHT, WE LIKE .

YES.

YOU YOU GO AHEAD AND DO THAT.

IT MAY JUST BE WORD RESEARCHING.

I'M LIKE, I, I DON'T KNOW WHAT COMMON PRACTICE IS, BUT MAYBE THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT A 6-YEAR-OLD IS CONSIDERED TO BE LIKE AN ADULT.

I DON'T KNOW.

BUT IT MIGHT JUST BE WORTH RESEARCHING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE LIKE, IS THAT A TYPICAL LIBRARY PRACTICE ACROSS ALL OVER YOUR LIBRARIES? MM-HMM.

IT IS ACTUALLY.

UM, AND SOME LIBRARIES DON'T HAVE THE AGE LISTED AROUND US.

UM, I THINK, UM, YOU KNOW, I THINK WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THIS EARLIER, LIKE STARTING A LITTLE BIT SMALLER.

I THINK, UM, DOUG WAS TALKING ABOUT START BEING COMFORTABLE STARTING A LITTLE BIT SMALLER AND THEN SORT OF GO A LITTLE BIT UP.

SO IN MY MIND I'D LOVE TO JUST REMOVE IT ALL.

LIKE, YOU, YOU, YOU'RE BREATHING, YOU GET A LIBRARY CARD FOR FREE, YOU KNOW.

UM, BUT UM, I KNOW THAT THERE'S SOME HESITATION, YOU KNOW, WITH THAT.

SO I THINK IN MY MIND THIS IS SORT OF LIKE THE MIDDLE GROUND.

MM-HMM.

ONE THING.

1616 WHO'S GETTING ALSO CATCH BUILD, RIGHT? BECAUSE US AS LIBRARY STAFF, ASSUMING A INDIVIDUAL TURNED OUT LIBRARY, THEY'RE ABLE TO , THEY KEPT THEM AS BEST IN GOOD STANDING.

MM-HMM.

FIRST.

A GOOD TWO MONTHS MAKES A LOT OF SENSE TO ME.

'CAUSE YOU ALSO DON'T WANT SOMEONE, LIKE IF THEY FIND OUT YOU HAVE LIKE A PVD, THEY COME AND CHECK IT OUT AND NEVER BRING IT BACK.

BUT THEY DO THAT TO ANOTHER LIBRARY THAT HAS A LOT MORE MEDIA AVAILABILITY THAT SHE DID MUCH BETTER EXPLAINING THAT.

BUT THAT'S, THAT'S ESSENTIALLY WHAT I CALLED AROUND.

THEY SAID, UM, SINCE IT'S LIKE BUILDING A ONE, I SAID BUILDING CREDIT, THAT'S, YOU GAVE THAT TO ME THAT HE EXPLAINED IT TO, UH, THE KID WHO WAS, HE ASKED WHY DO YOU HAVE TO WAIT 18 MONTHS? AND I I, I LOVE THAT THAT RESPONSIBILITY THAT HE EXPLAIN THAT'S .

YEAH.

AND THEN, AND THERE WERE LIBRARIES LOCALLY THAT, YOU KNOW, HAD A LOT MORE RESTRICTION WHEN IT CAME TO THAT THAT COULD ALSO HAVE TO DO WITH THEIR, AN EXPERIENCE THAT THEY HAD.

'CAUSE A LOT OF TIMES POLICY COMES FROM, YOU KNOW, AN EXPERIENCE, JUST LIKE THIS POLICY CHANGE THAT I'M ASKING FOR CAME FROM AN EXPERIENCE OF, OF A PERSON THAT WAS 16 AND NOT STANDING AND, YOU KNOW, AND I WANTED TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS SOMETHING.

WELL, WE HAVE A LOT OF, I MEAN, STUDENTS IN THE AREA, WHETHER IT BE IN POIC OR IN CHARTER SCHOOLS OR IN HOMESCHOOL THAT ARE PARTICIPATING IN DUAL CREDIT.

AND SO I CAN SEE A LOT OF VALUE IN BEING ABLE TO ACCESS RESOURCE

[01:00:01]

LIKE FERENCE MATERIALS FROM OTHER LARGER LIBRARIES.

YEAH.

NICE.

GOOD.

I THOUGHT THE SAME PAGE.

AND THEN THE HOOD, I ASSUME LIBRARIES HAVE ALREADY STARTED SHARING, YOU KNOW, THEIR TEACHERS BECAUSE THE REALITY IS THEIR FUNDING COMES FROM PLACE TOO.

THEY HAVE TO FIGHT FOR THEIR FUNDING AND ADVOCATE AND IT'S, IT MAY BE GREAT AND IT MAY NOT BE GREAT.

SO WHEN WE'RE IN A PARTNERSHIP AND THAT OPENS THEIR, UM, NEW STUDENTS AND THEIR, UH, EMPLOYEES TO A WHOLE, YOU KNOW MM-HMM.

ROOM FULL OF RESOURCES AND DIGITAL RESOURCES THAT THEY CAN USE.

UM, RECHARGE.

SO WE, WE, WE ALREADY HAD A FEW OF THE .

AWESOME.

ARE WE SOMEONE I I BUT FOR A WHILE WE WERE DOING A PROGRAM WHERE OUR LIBRARY AND SCHOOLS WERE CONNECTED, STILL CONNECTED.

THEY HAVE ACCESS TO, UM, BUT STUDENTS, UM, YEAH.

UM, AND IT IS ONLY THE STUDENTS AT ACCESSS UNLESS, RIGHT, THAT BEING SAID, BELIEVE THE STUDENT SOMETHING THAT, YEAH.

WE'RE ALSO TALKING WITH THEM TOO ABOUT, UM, FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR BE HAVING IN THE PAPERWORK FOR, UM, REGISTRATION, HAVING A HEAD OF PUBLIC LIBRARY CARD APPLICATION WITHIN THAT SO THAT THEY CAN AUTOMATICALLY SIGN UP FOR THAT AND NOT HAVE, FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE TO GO TO TWO DIFFERENT SPOTS.

AND THEN I'LL GO PICK 'EM UP EVERY, YOU KNOW, COUPLE OF WEEKS AND, AND WE'LL MAKE IT HAPPEN.

BUT, UM, THE IS T LIBRARIES ARE SUPER INTERESTED IN PARTNERING, SO THAT'S BEEN REALLY GREAT.

AWESOME.

AND SO THAT POLICY UPDATE WAS MORE OF LIKE FOR AWARENESS AND PRESENTED ? YES.

SO, UM, WE WILL, AND I, AND I HAVE TO LOOK AT EXACTLY LIKE HOW, LIKE I HAVE TO LET THE CITY SECRETARY KNOW AN AGENDA.

UM, BUT MYSELF AND WHOEVER CAN ATTEND AND THEN WE WOULD, UM, RUN CITY COUNCIL AND ASK FOR THAT.

BUT YOUR QUESTIONS HELP ME PREPARE FOR THE QUESTIONS I MIGHT GET TO, UM, FROM CITY COUNCIL.

UM, YEAH.

AND I CAN , UM, I FEEL LIKE THEY, THEY'RE GONNA ASK, SO I KNOW IT SAYS SCHOOL, I MUST BE PRESENT, PRESENTED TO GET THE CARD, BUT HOW DO YOU YEAR MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE STILL LIKE, IS SOMEONE GONNA GO ON, I GUESS GOOGLE? ARE THEY STILL A TEACHER? LIKE HOW DOES THAT SAY? THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

UM, BECAUSE RIGHT NOW IT'S A TWO YEAR PROCESS.

UM, SO I DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THAT.

THAT'S FANTASTIC QUESTION.

WHEN THEY PROBABLY WILL ASK.

THANK YOU.

IT MAY NOT BE WORTH TIME AND ENERGY TO, TO CHECK IN EVERY YEAR, BUT WHEN IT'S TIME FOR ANYONE TO HAVE TO PRESENT THEIR SCHOOL, I DO WANNA KNOW IF I SEE WHAT THEY DO.

TEACHERS YOU MIGHT LONGER BADGES.

NOT NECESSARILY.

I THINK THEY TRY TO, THEY TRY TO MOST IST LIKE I HAD TO TRAIN MINE IN WHEN I LEFT THE SCHOOL WORLD.

BUT, UM, THAT MAY NOT BE SOMETHING THAT THEY CAN DO ALL THE TIME.

ESPECIALLY WHEN SOMEBODY, YOU KNOW, GOES ON VACATION AND THEN THEY JUST SEND THEIR ID ARE ISSUED EVERY YEAR AND THEY HAVE A, LIKE A YEAR SCHOOL YEAR ON IT.

SO THAT'S HOW YOU'D BE ABLE TO DETERMINE IT.

BUT SO WE COULD EITHER SAY EVERY TWO YEARS, I HAVE TO REDO IT THAT WAY ANYWAY.

OR I CAN WORK WITH THE, UM, ISD LIBRARIAN.

MAYBE I CAN SEND A LIST OF, YOU KNOW, NAMES, PERSONAL INFORMATION, BUT A LIST OF THINGS THAT WE HAVE THAT SIGNED UP WITH OTHERWISE D UM, STAFF CARDS.

UM, SO THEY CAN DOUBLE CHECK FOR ME.

BUT THANK YOU THERE.

ANY OTHER OBSERVATIONS OR QUESTIONS OR? MY ONLY THING IS I PAUSE AT NOT HAVING TO GET PARENTAL PERMISSION FOR THE TEXT SHARE.

I KNOW.

THAT'S OKAY.

WELL IF IT WAS, IF, IF I WAS 16 AND I NEEDED MY PARENTS' PERMISSION TO GET A LIBRARY CARD AND MY PARENT WAS ASSIGN ME AND I GIVE ME PERMISSION TO GET A LIBRARY CARD AND I ALSO MEAN BY CAN AND CHOOSE TO GET A TEXT SHARE CARD, LIKE THAT TRACKS ME.

BUT IF, IF THERE'S NO PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AT ALL, THAT JUST IS SURPRISING.

[01:05:01]

AND I MAY BE THE ONLY ONE THAT SURPRISED ME THAT KIND 'CAUSE I'M JUST LIKE, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM HAVING A LIBRARY CARD IN THE PICTURE? BUT THEY'RE MICHIGAN LIBRARY, BUT OKAY, SO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM.

I HAVE A PROBLEM.

PAUSE.

YOU HAVE A PAUSE ABOUT ONE GETTING A LIBRARY PART OF THAT FROM YOUR COLLECTION AND THEN ALSO PART.

YEAH, I THINK MY, MY INITIAL PAUSE AND I'M NOT BEING ASKED FOR FEEDBACK ON THE APPLICATION ITSELF.

IT'S A PROCESS.

IT'S ALREADY IN PLACE WAS SURPRISED BY THAT.

UM, SO THEN THERE'S, THERE'S NO, IF THAT'S NOT A REQUIREMENT, THAT'S THE ONLY THING WE NEED TO GET THE TEXTURE APART.

I DON'T KNOW.

JUST IT'S CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT THEY WOULD HAVE ACCESS TO.

WELL AND I THINK WE HAVE A REALLY GOOD EXPRESSING RELATIONSHIP IN OUR COMMUNITY WITH OUR FAMILIES.

AND IF WE DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING INADVERTENTLY THAT WOULD, I DON'T KNOW, OPEN UP CONVERSATION, YOU KNOW? RIGHT.

SO YEAH, AND IN MY MIND I'M LIKE, WELL THEY ALREADY HAVE A LIBRARY CARD AT 16.

A TECH SHARE CARD IS REALLY JUST AN EXTENSION OF THAT.

I AGREE.

PARENT DIDN'T EVEN GIVE THEM PERMISSION TO GET THE LIBRARY CARD.

THEY MAY NOT KNOW THAT THEY HAVE ACCESS TO OTHER LIBRARY.

CAN I TRY ON THIS FROM SOMEBODY GRADUATED EARLY.

I COULDN'T GO TO COLLEGE BECAUSE I COULDN'T SIGN MYSELF INTO ANYTHING.

BUT AS A 16-YEAR-OLD I COULD GET A JOB AND I'M SIGNING THE LEGAL CONTRACT AND GIVING AWAY MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND I'M DOING ALL THESE THINGS AS A 16-YEAR-OLD GET A JOB.

HOW IS THAT IN PROVIDING FOR MYSELF WITH 16 ANY DIFFERENT? I ALREADY HAVE ACCESS TO GO TO ANY BOOKSTORE I WANT TO GO TO AND BUY WHATEVER BOOKS I WANT.

SO HOW IS HAVING FREE PUBLIC ACCESS GOING WOULDN'T BE ANY DIFFERENT THAN ME BEING ABLE TO HAVE THAT JOB WITHOUT THEIR PARENTS' PERMISSION? BECAUSE YOUR PARENT DOESN'T SIGN YOUR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT.

HOW DOES THAT CHANGE BEING ABLE TO GO TO THE LIBRARY? I'M NOT SAYING MY NO, THAT PHONE PROBABLY A LOT OF PEOPLE, I'M JUST TRYING TO MAKE YOU FEEL A LITTLE MORE COMFORTABLE WITH IT.

MAYBE THAT THE THOUGHT PROCESS WOULD BE THE LIBRARY IS NO MORE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THAT 16-YEAR-OLD CHECKS OUT THAT THAT BOOKSTORE IS FROM WHAT THAT THAT PERSON BUYS.

YEAH.

BUT THE BOOKSTORE IS NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO SOME OF THE CONVERSATIONS BEING, BEING PUBLIC STATEMENTS.

JUST SAYING.

YEAH, BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT NEGATIVE PUBLICITY.

UM, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S, IT'S AROUND, UH, THE LIBRARY.

WE WANT POSITIVE THINGS HAPPENING.

I THINK THAT, UM, 16 IS ACTUALLY THE, UM, MOST PUBLIC LIBRARIES, UM, THEY ALLOW 16 YEAR OLDS TO GET THEIR OWN CARD, UH, WITHOUT PARENT, UH, PERMISSION.

SO THAT IS A JUST A STANDARD SORT OF PRACTICE.

UM, I THINK IN MY MIND WHAT I WAS THINKING IS WE HAVE KIDDOS THAT ARE 16, 17 THAT GO TO THIS, UM, WHAT IS IT CALLED? EAST WILLIAMSON COUNTY.

UM, HIGHER EDUCATION.

HIGHER EDUCATION.

AND THEY DON'T LIVE IN HU BUT THEY COME TO HU FOR THAT.

SO THEY, THEY, THAT WAY THEY CAN USE A HU CARD BUT THEN GET A TEXT CARD AND, AND GO TO DIFFERENT PLACES LIKE THAT.

UM, I KNOW MY PERSPECTIVE IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT BECAUSE YOU KNOW, I'M A LIBRARIAN SO I WANT, YOU KNOW YEAH, THAT IS, IT ACTUALLY IS.

UM, SO BUT THAT'S A GREAT POINT BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT'S GONNA PAUSE WITHOUT REALLY EASY WAY TO PUT A NEGATIVE SPIN ON PROCESS.

YEAH.

WHEN I FIRST STARTED HERE, LIKE EIGHT WAS 1800.

SO IT WAS ON THE CARD.

LEGALLY WE HAD FEEDBACK DOWN WITH SEVERAL COMMUNITY APPLICATION, FEEL LIKE THE CONVERSATION WAS PARENTS, THEIR KIDS WERE RESPONSIBLE.

THEY DID NOT ALREADY DRIVING.

HE WAS ALREADY ALREADY.

SO MANY THINGS THAT FOR, AND THAT'S WHAT ME TO MOVING ONLINE, BUT WITH THE STANDARD FOR IS AND ALSO LEGISLATION CURRENTLY IS, IS UM, THE SCHOOL LIBRARIES ARE, ARE NOW IN A POSITION WHERE THEY HAVE TO SHARE, UH, OPENLY WITH PARENTS, YOU KNOW, WHAT THEIR CHILD IS CHECKING OUT.

BUT SORT OF YOU CAN JUST GO ON AND, YOU KNOW, SEE ALL THAT.

WHEREAS IN A PUBLIC LIBRARY THAT THOSE ARE NOT THE SAME SORT OF STIPULATION.

SO, UM, I'M LOOKING AT IT FROM A LENS OF A PUBLIC LIBRARY, BUT THESE ARE, THESE ARE EXCELLENT POINTS.

I MEAN THIS, THIS WOULD BE THE TIME TO BRING THOSE POINTS UP.

[01:10:01]

UM, BECAUSE UM, IF LIKE, IF WE'RE IN A SITUATION WHERE LIKE THAT'S PROBLEMATIC, UM, I'M WILLING TO SAY, OKAY, WE MAYBE ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS, MAYBE NOT CHANGE THE LANGUAGE IN THE POLICY, BUT DO IT ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS.

UM, BUT I DEFINITELY, THE HOW DO ISD UM, EMPLOYEES, THAT'S DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT I ADVOCATE FOR.

I'M NOT SAYING DON'T ADVOCATE FOR THE OTHER AND I APPRECIATE YOU GUYS ALLOWING ME TO KIND OF PROCESS THAT WITH YOU.

UM, I JUST, ALL THIS IS PRINT.

THIS IS WHY WE YEAH.

THIS WHY WE PRESENT IT TO GET DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE BECAUSE I'M, I'M IN ONE HEAD SPACE.

IT'S GOOD.

ESPECIALLY I CAN GRAB ONE STUFF.

EVEN IF THEY DON'T GET A TEXT CARD, YOU CAN GO ANYWHERE.

THEY CAN STILL GO TO THE VILLE LIBRARY AROUND.

THEY CAN GO INTO THERE AND READ IT AND CHECK IT OUT AND LOOK AT IT.

THEY DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE THE LIBRARY WITH IT, BUT IT'S STILL OPENLY, HOPEFULLY ACCESSIBLE TO THEM EVEN WHEN VALUE TEXT.

SO, AND EVEN AT THE BOOKSTORE, RIGHT? SO IF AGAIN WANTS INFORMATION, YOU'RE GONNA GET A YEAH.

RIGHT.

EVEN THAT'S TRUE.

THIS IS HELPFUL.

YEAH.

BUT THIS IS HELPFUL AND, AND YEAH, SO WHEN PEOPLE ASK ME QUESTIONS, I WON'T HAVE JUST LOOKED AT IT FROM MY OWN HEADSPACE.

I WILL HAVE GOTTEN FEEDBACK FROM YOU GUYS AND BE READY WITH ANSWERS TO THOSE QUESTIONS.

AND IF I DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION, MAYBE I DON'T NEED TO BE ASKED THAT CHANGE IN THAT PLACE.

SO I THINK INTERESTING WE HAVE LIKE HANDS ON BOTH RESPECT.

MY PARENTS ARE LIKE, I AM NOT A DOCTOR MANAGER.

I DON'T REALLY LOT ARE BIGGER THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT.

AND THEN YOU HAVE THE OTHER PARENTS ARE LIKE PARENTS, I WANNA KNOW HOP ON TOP.

I MEAN HOW, YOU KNOW.

SO, UM, NO, BUT IT'S TRUE.

'CAUSE THEY'RE SO, SO WE HAVE TO HAVE A MEDIA RELEASE IF THEY'RE 16, BE ABLE TO PUT THEM ON UM, A FACEBOOK PAGE.

BUT THEY CAN GET A LIBRARY CARD WITHOUT THAT, UM, PARENT.

SO I KNOW THAT THERE'S SOME THINGS THAT JUST DON'T MAKE SENSE.

UM, SO UNFORTUNATELY IT'S NOT JUST SMOOTH ACROSS THE BOARD.

SO THOSE QUESTIONS ARE AND JUST WAIT, 'CAUSE AI IS GONNA CHANGE THE WHOLE LANDSCAPE.

SORRY, MAYBE, UM, TWO, SORRY.

SO THE CIRCULATION POLICY PORTION AND JUST TALKING ABOUT PARENT CONSENT ET UM, SO THIS UNDER THE, UH, UNDER 16, CONSIDER THE PARENT MUST, SO UNDER 16 THAT TELL YOU 12-YEAR-OLD GOES KID, MOM AND DAD HAVE TO BE PRESENT.

BUT UH, IF YOU'RE OVER 16, YOU STILL BE CONSIDERED THE MINOR.

YOU ARE 16, STILL CONSIDERED A MINOR.

UH, SO PARENTS STILL HAVE TO BE PRESENT.

IS THAT CORRECT? MM-HMM.

OKAY.

SO IS THERE A COMBINATION FOR MINOR? SO BECAUSE IT'S LISTED ON THE 16, THAT POLICY, WHAT CLASS LIVES SEVEN? MINOR.

MINOR.

UM, SO ANYBODY WOULD BRING IT UP.

WE USE THAT , THE PARENT WAS NOT AND WE, THEY NOT, LET'S GIMME ANOTHER STATE SEEMS TO BE IN CONFLICT OF ACCENT.

ALTHOUGH, AND I THINK THAT FOR RENEWALS, THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE PRESENT FOR RENEWALS UNTIL AGE 18.

MAYBE.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT'S SO NO, IT'S FIVE AT WON'T.

SO THE B SAYS THAT APPARENT LEGAL ARGUMENTS SENT HIS OR HER CURRENT TEXAS DRIVER'S LICENSE, TEXAS ID MID AND CURRENT RESIDENCE.

BUT NOT ASKING MY TO PROVIDE.

WELL NO, THEY HAVE, I'M TRYING TO GET A LIBRARY CARD.

I NEED THIS.

SO A LOT OF THEM, THEIR PARENTS DO HAVE AWARENESS THAT THEY'RE OKAY.

THEY STILL HAVE TO BRING IN THE SAME KIND OF PROOF THAT ANYONE ELSE HAS.

OKAY.

'CAUSE THE LANGUAGE DOESN'T SPEAK TO THAT ON BEING SEEN SO WELL BECAUSE LIKE THERE FIVE, THEY WOULD STILL HAVE TO GO WITH NUMBER ONE ANYTHING.

SO THE DEFINITION BETWEEN STATE TEXAS,

[01:15:01]

OUR POLICY AND UNDERNEATH SINGLE, IT DOESN'T, IT'S NOT, UM, IT'S NOT 16 MAYBE ARE .

OKAY.

SO THAT'S THE ONLY, THE MINOR, THE BACK PART.

OKAY.

ON THAT.

SO, SO MAYBE JUST CLEANING UP THE LANGUAGE THERE SO IT'S REALLY CLEAR ON WHAT THOSE YEAH.

WELL LET ME ASK YOU GUYS THIS.

WOULD YOU ALL BE OKAY IF AFTER CLEANING ALL UP AND, AND UH, TAKING UP THAT OTHER, WE NEED TAKE DOWN, CAN I SEND THE UPDATED, UM, ME TO EVERYBODY TO SORT OF GIVE FEEDBACK OR MAYBE I'LL PUT A TIMELINE ON CAN YOU GIVE THIS DAY, THIS TIME? UM, AND THEN, UH, 'CAUSE WE'RE NOT GONNA MOVE FORWARD TO CITY COUNCIL UNTIL ALL KIND OF WORK ON THAT.

WE'RE FEELING COMFORTABLE WITH IT.

THIS IS MINOR NOTE BECAUSE ONE IS FOR EVERY MONTH OVER 16, BUT IT DOESN'T CALL IT OUT WHERE TWO DOES.

MM-HMM.

TWO SAYS TWO SAYS YEARS LOWER UNDER 16.

SO ONE STARTED OFF WITH OVER 16.

THAT MIGHT JUST CLARIFY FOR EVERY OVER 16 YEARS OR LESS UNDER 16.

AND THAT I THINK WAS FROM MY CONCLUSION.

YEAH.

AND THAT'S, THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO HEAR BECAUSE WE, WE, THIS IS OUR LIKE, LIKE YOU KNOW HOW SOMETIMES THEY REACH OUT HOW TO DO SOMETHING.

YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT IT FROM LIKE A PERSPECTIVE OF SOMEBODY NEW COMING IN.

SO THIS IS PERFECT.

THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO HEAR.

YAY.

GOOD JOB, .

AND WE WANT IT TO BE CLEAR.

WE DON'T WANT THERE, YOU KNOW, TO BE CONFUSED, WE WANT IT TO BE EASY TO LATE.

SO THANK YOU AUR TIME CHECK, WHICH YOU DID SAY WE SAID HARD OUT.

OH YEAH.

IT'S ALREADY IN SEVEN 30.

YEAH, IT'S WITHIN, WE'RE ALMOST THE END.

OKAY.

SO, UH, THE PROJECT OUTCOME IS KIND OF WHAT, UM, I TALKED ABOUT EARLIER.

THIS IS A VIDEO.

UM, IF YOU JUST GO TO GOOGLE PROJECT OUTCOME A LA, THIS WILL COME UP FOR YOU.

ALL OF OUR STAFF HAS AN ACCOUNT.

UM, WE'RE DOING OUR, THE TRAINING VIDEO SORT OF ON THE CLOCK AS A WEEKLY TASK SO THAT WE CAN ROLL THIS OUT IN JANUARY.

THAT WAY WE ALL KNOW THE LANGUAGE AND WE KNOW HOW TO CREATE REPORTS.

WE'RE GONNA START SMALL WITH THE MOST IMPORTANT REPORTS.

AND THEN AS WE USE IT OVER THE YEARS, WE, WE CAN, UH, START CREATING OUR OWN REPORTS.

LIKE IF HANNAH JUST REALLY WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT STORY TIME SPECIFICALLY AND SHE JUST WANTS TO, UM, SURVEY THE PEOPLE WHO COME TO OR STORYLINE, SHE CAN AT THAT POINT CREATE HER OWN.

SO LET ME MAKE SURE THAT MY VOLUME.

WELCOME TO PROJECT OUTCOME, THE PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT INITIATIVE OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSOCIATION PROJECT OUTCOME IS A FREE ONLINE TOOLKIT DESIGNED TO HELP PUBLIC LIBRARIES UNDERSTAND AND SHARE THE IMPACT OF ESSENTIAL LIBRARY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES BY PROVIDING SIMPLE SURVEYS AND AN EASY TO USE PROCESS FOR MEASURING AND ANALYZING OUTCOMES FOR THE FIRST TIME, PUBLIC LIBRARIES HAVE FREE ACCESS TO STANDARDIZED OUTCOME MEASURES THAT ALLOW THEM TO MEASURE CONSISTENTLY WITHIN THEIR LIBRARY.

AND WITH PARTICIPATING LIBRARIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY, BEING ABLE TO COMPARE DATA OVER TIME AND AT A STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL.

WHILE MANY PUBLIC LIBRARIES COLLECT DATA ABOUT THEIR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT, PATRON SATISFACTION SURVEYS AND OUTPUT MEASURES, BUT IT'S ALL BEEN LACKING FOR THE DATA, PLEASE SUPPORT WHAT GOOD THEY ARE PROVIDING THEIR COMMUNITIES.

THAT'S WHERE MEASURING OUTCOMES CAN HELP.

AN OUTCOME IS A SPECIFIC BENEFIT.

A PATRON RECEIVES FROM A LIBRARY PROGRAM OR SERVICE OUTCOME BE QUANTITATIVE OR QUALITATIVE.

THEY EXPRESSED AS CHANGES THAT INDIVIDUALS PERCEIVE IN THEMSELVES.

PROJECT OUTCOMES SURVEY HELP LIBRARIES QUANTIFY WHAT DO THEY DO BY MEASURING , LEARN SOMETHING NEW, GAIN CONFIDENCE, CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOR, OR INCREASE AWARENESS OF LIBRARY RESOURCES.

LIBRARIES WILL ALSO LEARN WHAT THEIR PATRONS LIKE MOST AND WHAT THE LIBRARY CAN DO TO IMPROVE.

COMBINED THESE OUTCOMES HELP LIBRARIES DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THEIR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES ARE BENEFITING PATRONS AND MAKING AN IMPACT ON THEIR LIVES.

PROJECT OUTCOME PROVIDES TWO TYPES OF SURVEYS FOR LIBRARIES TO USE.

IMMEDIATE SURVEYS ARE DESIGNED TO BE ADMINISTERED IMMEDIATELY AFTER A PROGRAM OR SERVICE IS COMPLETED.

AND HELP LIBRARIES BETTER UNDERSTAND THEIR IMMEDIATE IMPACT ON PATRONS.

[01:20:01]

FOLLOW UP SURVEYS ARE DESIGNED TO BE ADMINISTERED AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME PASSED.

UNDERSTAND IF PATRONS HAVE CHANGED THEIR BEHAVIOR OR CONTINUED TO BENEFIT AS A RESULT OF THE PROGRAM OR SERVICE PROJECT OUTCOME.

PROVIDE SURVEY IN SEVEN KEY LIBRARY SERVICE AREAS, CIVIC AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, DIGITAL LEARNING, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION, AND LIFELONG LEARNING FROM THE CHILDHOOD LITERACY, JOB SKILLS AND SUMMARY THEMES.

THESE SERVICE AREAS ALLOW LIBRARIES TO MEASURE A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES.

FROM STORY TIME TO RESUME WRITING WORKSHOPS, STEM HOOKS TO SUMMER READING PROGRAMS, PUBLIC LIBRARY THAT REGISTER FOR PROJECT OUTCOMES, HELP ACCESS TO A VARIETY, VARIETY OF TOOLS AND RESOURCES, INCLUDING THE STANDARDIZED PATRON SURVEYS, THE SURVEY MANAGEMENT TOOL, DATA DASHBOARD VISUALIZATION, THE CUSTOM REPORT BUILDER TRAINING RESOURCES, A PEER DISCUSSION BOARD AND ONGOING IN-PERSON AND ONLINE EVENTS.

THE SURVEY AND DATA ANALYSIS TOOLS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC, REGIONAL AND STATE LIBRARIES IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA.

OTHER PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE FREE RESOURCES AND PEER DISCUSSION BOARD SO THEY CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS AND ADAPTED .

REAL QUICK TO SAY THE COMPARISON, THAT'S WHAT I FORGOT TO SAY EARLIER.

SO I'VE NOTICED WHEN PEOPLE ARE TALKING WITH CITY COUNCIL ESPECIALLY, THAT COMPARISON PIECE SEEMS TO BE VERY IMPACTFUL.

UM, AND SO THIS WILL COMPARE US TO OTHER LIBRARIES THAT ARE OUR SIZE, UM, IN OUR AND, AND THEN OTHER LIBRARIES IN OUR AREA.

SO, AND IT DOES IT WITHOUT US HAVING TO DO THE MATH, YOU KNOW.

UM, AND SO IT'LL BE RIGHT THERE.

IT'S SOMETHING THAT WE CAN SHARE WITH, WITH WHOEVER'S ASKING.

UM, IT'LL BE PUBLIC FACING.

IF YOU GUYS HAVE A SPECIFIC QUESTION, WE CAN GO IN THERE AND WE CAN PULL UP THE DATA.

.

ALL OF THE STANDARDIZED SURVEYS CAN BE ACCESSED FROM WITHIN THE SURVEY MANAGEMENT POOL.

LIBRARIES CREATE THEIR SURVEYS BY CHOOSING THE SURVEY TOPIC AND SURVEY TYPE, WHICH WILL PRELOAD THE SURVEY WITH THE STANDARDIZED PROJECT OUTCOME QUESTIONS.

LIBRARIES WILL BE GIVEN OPTION TO CUSTOMIZE THEIR SURVEYS BY INSERTING THEIR SPECIFIC PROGRAM INFORMATION, LIBRARY LOGO, CUSTOM MESSAGING, AND BY INCLUDING UP THREE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS OF THEIR OWN.

THE SURVEY MANAGEMENT TOOL MAKES IT EASY FOR LIBRARIES TO MANAGE THEIR SURVEY ACTIVITY, EDIT SURVEY, AND GET SURVEYS FROM THE TOOL.

THEY CAN DOWNLOAD PAPER SURVEYS AND THEY ACCESS LINKS TO ONLINE SURVEYS THEY HAVE CREATED.

ONCE SURVEYS HAVE BEEN ADMINISTERED, LIBRARY CAN EASILY ENTER SURVEY DATA AND SAYS THEIR RESULTS.

SURVEY RESULTS ARE AUTOMATICALLY AGGREGATED INTO SEVERAL REPORTING TOOLS, MAKING IT EASY TO REVIEW, INTERPRET, ANALYZE, AND SHARE THEM REPORTS INCLUDE A CUSTOM PDF SUMMARY REPORT THAT INCLUDES HIGH LEVEL RESULTS THAT CAN BE FILTERED AND AGGREGATED BASED ON YOUR NEEDS, AND BROUGHT IN CSV FORMAT FOR DEEPER ANALYSIS.

INTERACTIVE DATA VISUALIZATIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE DATA DASHBOARD.

THESE PROVIDE DIFFERENT WAYS FOR YOU TO ANALYZE AND INTERPRET YOUR DATA BASED ON SURVEY TOPIC, OUTCOME TYPE, PROGRAM, NAME AND DATE.

PUBLIC LIBRARIES SEE HOW THEIR RESULTS COMPARE TO THEIR STATE AND NATIONAL AVERAGES.

REGIONAL AND STATE LIBRARIES ARE ABLE TO SEE THE AGGREGATE DATA FOR THEIR REGION OR STATE PROJECT OUTCOME.

PROVIDE A WIDE VARIETY OF TRAINING AND INFORMATION RESOURCES FULL OF HELPFUL TIPS, GUIDELINES, CASE STUDIES AND VIDEOS, PROJECT OUTCOME USERS CAN PARTICIPATE IN A PEER DISCUSSION BOARD TO INTERACT, SHARE IDEAS AND RESOURCES, ASK QUESTIONS, AND SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH OTHER USERS READY TO GET STARTED.

VISIT WWW.PROJECTOUTCOMES.ORG TO SIGN APPROPRIATE IN THE GETTING STARTED TUTORIAL VIDEOS AND RESOURCES TO GET STARTED MEASURING THE IMPACT OF YOUR LIBRARY'S PROGRAMS AND SERVICES.

SO THAT WAS A QUICK OVERVIEW.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? THIS , BUT I KNOW LIKE , THE WHATEVER, A A ARE IF WE ARE PARTY THAT OR DO YOU WE JUST HAVE TO A MEMBERSHIP TO GET THE FREE STEP FREE REGARDLESS, IT'S FREE REGARDLESS.

OH, QUESTIONS MS. FREE REGARDLESS.

UM, AND THAT'S WHY, UM, WHENEVER THE MS. HERBE GOT, UM, AN ACT, I WAS LIKE, MOMMY, WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING.

BUT THEN MS. SO WE, WE FOUND SUCCESS, LIKE I SAID, WITH OUR QR CODES IN OUR PAPER, BUT WE JUST AREN'T GETTING AS MUCH DATA AS WE WANT.

UM, SO IN MY MIND I'M THINKING WE'RE GONNA START SMALL.

MAYBE I'LL MAKE A A POSTER SIZE VERSION OF THAT PAPER.

UM, AND THEN THEY CAN USE, IF WE HAVE 20 PEOPLE BEFORE YOU LEAVE, UM, CAN YOU

[01:25:01]

PUT YOUR STICKY NOTE ON? AND, AND THEN WE JUST TAKE A PICTURE AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM, WE CAN REUSE IT FOR ANOTHER PROGRAM.

YOU KNOW, THAT SORT OF THING.

UM, AND THEN WE CAN ENTER THEM MANUALLY.

WE NEED TO.

UM, SO THIS IS, UM, AND, AND I, AND I, I PLAYED WITH IT.

I PLAY WITH IT AS FAR AS LIKE, YOU KNOW, COMING UP WITH SOME CERTAIN THING TO HAVE SOME REALLY GREAT QUESTIONS.

UM, AND THE, THE PIECE THAT REALLY GOT ME WAS THE OUTCOMES, BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE STORIES.

THOSE ARE THE, THE THINGS THAT, THAT IT IS REALLY HARD TO GATHER DATA ON.

BUT THAT'S SOME OF THE MOST IMPACTFUL DATA IS TO SAY, THIS PERSON CAME TO THIS UM, UH, PROGRAM AND THEY MADE A CONNECTION OR THEY LEARNED ABOUT THIS OR THEY, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER THAT IS.

UM, AS OPPOSED TO QUESTIONS LIKE, UH, DID YOU LIKE IT? ARE YOU GONNA COME BACK? YOU KNOW, IT'S A LITTLE BIT, IT'S A LITTLE BIT DEEPER.

SO I HAVE, BUT LIKE AN OLD MICROSOFT PRO THAT I'D BE HAPPY I THINK TO DONATE IF YOU THOUGHT THE IT THAT LOUD.

MM-HMM.

, I THINK WHAT MIGHT BE HELPFUL IS THAT PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY ON A TOUCH SCREEN WILLING TO TOUCH THREE OR FIVE QUICK THINGS AND YOU UNIQUELY HAVE ACTUALLY NOT TO TRANSCRIBE IT.

MM-HMM.

.

UM, BUT THAT MAY ALSO HELP JUST GENERATE RESPONSES IN GENERAL.

SO MAYBE FIND OUT IF THAT'S SOMETHING THAT YOU GUYS ARE ABLE TO RECEIVE.

BUT WE DO HAVE ONE IPAD THAT WE USE, UM, FOR THAT IS, YEAH, IT'S , WE LIKE, BUT IT'S ON, BUT IT'S LOCKED ON, ON ITS LITTLE THING.

BUT, UM, BUT YEAH, THAT WE, WE TRY, WE TRY TO GIVE AS MANY WAYS AS WE CAN TO GET THAT DATA.

UM, AND SO, AND IT IS REALLY TO, UM, JUST A QUESTION OF LIKE, I FORGET, EVEN THOUGH I'M RUNNING PROGRAMMING MYSELF AND THIS IS MY INITIATIVE, I FORGET TO FOLLOW OR TO SAY AT THE BEGINNING, HEY, I'M GONNA PULL YOU AT THE END.

SO IT'S, IT'S, IT'S ALSO A QUESTION OF US GETTING INTO THE HABIT OF MENTIONING IT, UM, AT EVERY OKAY.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, COMMENTS? I, ON THE ACTUAL COMPLETION RATE SURVEYS FOR JUST TO , SO RIGHT NOW IT'S LOW.

YEAH.

RIGHT NOW IT'S LOW 5% OR SOMETHING.

YEAH, IT'S VERY LOW.

SO THAT IS SOMETHING THAT I WANNA TRACK TOO.

UM, AND, BUT THEN ALSO IN MY MIND I'M LIKE, OKAY, WHEN BUDGET SEES IT COMES OPEN AGAIN, I WILL, IF WE ROLL THIS OUT IN JANUARY, THIS I'LL HAVE, UM, DATA FROM JANUARY UP UNTIL, AND THEN WE COULD SAY NO.

UM, WE HAVE A, WE'VE HAD AN INCREASE IN PARTICIPATION AND WE CAN LOOK AT ALL OF THE DIFFERENT DATA POINTS.

UH, BECAUSE RIGHT NOW THE DATA THAT I'M GETTING, IT'S GOOD AND HELPFUL AS FAR AS US MODIFYING THINGS LIKE THAT, BUT IT'S NOT A LOT, YOU KNOW? UM, SO I DON'T KNOW THAT IT'S AN ACCURATE PORTRAYAL OF WHAT'S HAPPENING.

AND MOST OF IT IS REALLY POSITIVE.

AND SO I KNOW THAT NOT EVERYBODY'S HAVING THE MOST POSITIVE EXPERIENCE EVER.

LIKE WE WANT THEM TO, OF COURSE.

BUT WE NEED THAT OTHER FEEDBACK TOO, SO WE CAN, WE CAN MAKE ADJUSTMENTS.

UM, YEAH, THAT'S SURVEYS THE TWO BASICALLY THEY JUST TAKE FIVES ALL THE WAY DOWN, OFFER NO COMMENTS, AND THEN YOU GET THE PEOPLE TO SPEND 45 MINUTES ON IT.

YOU'RE LIKE, SAME.

MM-HMM.

.

YEAH.

THAT'S, THAT'S THE ROUGH PART.

BUT, BUT LIKE THAT THEY HAD, THEY MENTIONED THAT THEY HAD THE FOLLOW UP.

MM-HMM.

IT SUPPOSED TO BE IMMEDIATE.

MM-HMM.

.

I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE MORE, YEAH, I THINK AS A, AS A STAFF, WE'RE REALLY JUST GONNA BE KIND OF PLAYING WITH IT THE FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS.

WHAT WORKS FOR OUR PATRON TRENDS, WHAT ARE THEY RESPONDING TO? THAT SORT OF THING.

SO IT'S GONNA BE A, A LONG PROCESS AS WE, AS WE KIND OF FINE TUNE THAT.

BUT THOSE ARE GREAT POINTS.

I DID HAVE ONE QUESTION.

MM-HMM.

, UM, MENTIONED WE PLAYED WITH IT A LITTLE BIT.

UH, AND THEY ONLY ALLOW THE CUSTOM QUESTIONS WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING AT GATHERING DATA THERE OVER YEAR.

MM-HMM.

ARE LOT THE QUESTIONS USED IN THE PAST ? YEAH.

SO, UM, ONCE THAT I CREATED THE QR CODE ONES OR WHATEVER, THEY'RE VERY SUPPORT.

AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S BECAUSE WHEN I WAS CREATING THOSE, I USED, UM, I DIDN'T USE THEM, BUT I USED MAYBE, UH, ANOTHER RESOURCE THAT WOULD, THAT HAD USED THEM BEFORE.

IF THAT MAKES SENSE.

SO, BECAUSE A LOT OF THE QUESTIONS WOULD SEEM LIKE, ONE OF MY FAVORITE QUESTIONS THAT WE ASK ON ALL OF OUR, UM, SURVEYS IS, WAS THERE A BARRIER, UM, THAT PREVENTED YOU FROM LEARNING OR BEING COMFORTABLE OR, YOU KNOW, THOSE, THOSE KINDS OF QUESTIONS, UM, ARE THE ONES THAT I THINK, YOU KNOW, WE, WE REALLY NEED TO BE ASKING.

AND THEY, THEY ASK QUESTIONS LIKE THAT ON HERE.

SO THAT'S, THAT'S GOOD QUESTION.

OKAY.

KNOW IT IS THE TANYA SHOW TALKING ABOUT NEW

[01:30:01]

WORRIES.

UM, SO I HAVE, UM, WE IN WRITING VIRUS, UM, THE FORMS THAT WE HAVE, THERE'S NOT OVERWHELM ANYBODY, BUT THE LIBRARY ADVISORY HANDBOOK IS IN HERE.

WE ALSO HAVE LIBRARY POLICY EXAM PROCEDURES.

SO WE CAN FIND, WE , UM, WE HAVE OUR INFORMATION, OUR BROCHURE ABOUT THE LIBRARY.

THE LIBRARY MAY MINE OR LOCATION, JUST INFORMATION, THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES THAT JASON TALKED ABOUT EARLIER WITH OR THE BOARD, THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR.

, WE WILL HAVE LIBRARY CARD APPLICATIONS JUST IN CASE.

EVEN IF THEY ALREADY HAVE DO SOME OF THE, UH, WE ALSO INCLUDED LIBRARY STAFF IS MYSELF AND SO THEY HAVE A NAME.

UM, BUT WE TALKED ABOUT BROKEN DOWN.

YEAH.

THAT WAS FUN FOR US TO GO OUT AS WELL.

MM-HMM.

.

UM, THAT DEEP LEVEL OF TOLD WAS NOT .

UM, BUT IT A BIG STARTER.

SO BOARD, UM, AND FEELS LIKE THEY HAVE A, A GLASS BOARD.

UM, I THINK WE OR SOMETHING THAT AS A BOARD, LIKE SEEING THE BINDER IS LIKE OUR CURRENT GOALS.

WHAT GOALS? EVERYTHING YOU NEED THE MEETING DATES FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR.

JUST TO HAVE THEM ALL IN LAND.

WHAT DID YOU SAY? THE MYSTERIOUS, I JUST NEED ON THE BACK.

I LIKE THAT IT SEEMS APPROACHABLE.

IT DOESN'T SEEM INTIMIDATING.

I NEVER SAW THE OTHER RHYTHMICAL BINDER.

IT WAS BIGGER.

THAT ONE.

IT WAS LIKE BIGGER BINDER, 770 PAGES AND OF IT THAT WAS LIKE ACTUALLY IMPORTANT.

AND IT WOULD'VE ACTUALLY USED 60 PAGES.

YEAH, IT WAS, IT WAS AND IT WAS ALL JUST PAGES.

THERE WAS NO, NO CADENCE, NO PAGES.

NO.

WELL, CAN WE PUT IT LIKE ON THE BACK? YEAH.

LIKE HANG IN THERE.

IT'S NOT, THERE WERE NO ALSO LIVE LIT YOURSELF, YOU ALL THE TASKS.

YEAH, I LIKE THAT.

BUT WE'LL DEFINITELY ADD THE, UM, THE PRINTOUT OF THE GOALS AND THEN DATES.

WOULD WE ALSO LIKE, IS THE, UM, INTENT THAT ONCE THEY'RE ONBOARDED, THAT THEY WILL, SOMEONE WILL LOCK THEM THROUGH THE BINDER? MM-HMM, .

OKAY.

AWESOME.

WHO WOULD THAT BE? I WOULD LOVE TO DO IT.

ALRIGHT.

YEAH.

I THOUGHT I WAS HOPING YOU MORGAN .

I MEAN, I'LL DO IT, BUT I THINK THAT ALLOWS YOU TO START BUILDING RAPPORT.

ABSOLUTELY.

AND THEN THEY CAN ASK QUESTIONS AND THEN MAYBE THEY'RE, THEY HAVE QUESTIONS THAT TELL ME.

OH, I SHOULD HAVE PUT THAT IN THE BINDER PAGES FOR NOTES.

EXTRA PAGES FOR NOTES.

AWESOME.

WELL THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THAT TOGETHER AND DOCUMENTING IT.

SO NOW IT'S STANDARDIZED, WHICH THAT YOU BY .

I'M ALMOST THERE GUYS.

OKAY, SO THE ORDINANCE, OKAY, SO SORRY.

THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE, UH, THINGS.

FIRST CITY SECRETARY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING, RIGHT? SO MY QUESTION WAS DO WE HAVE BYLAWS? DO WE HAVE, LIKE, WHAT IS, WHAT'S GOING ON HERE? AND UM, SHE, SHE DID A LOT OF DATING AND SHE LIKE PHYSICALLY WENT AND LOOKED LIKE INTO THE RECESSES OF, UH, CLOSETS AND STORAGE.

AND SHE FOUND THIS.

SO WE DO HAVE THIS AND BECAUSE, UM, WE HAVE THIS IN ALL OF THE BOARDS THAT THEY HAVE THIS, WE DON'T NEED BYLAWS.

UM, AND SO THIS, THIS IS WHAT'S CONTINUING TO WORK.

[01:35:01]

UM, MY QUESTION TO HER WAS, WELL WHENEVER WE, UM, WE ONBOARD PEOPLE, ARE THEY SIGNING THIS SPECIFIC THING? UM, AND I'M GUESSING THAT'S PROBABLY A NO.

UH, BUT I WANTED TO INCLUDE, DID WE HAVE THIS IN THE, UM, IN THE BINDER AS WELL? IF NOT, WE NEED TO ADD.

IT WAS IN THE MYSTERY BINDER THOUGH.

BINDER.

SO, UM, IT REALLY JUST READS, UM, A LOT LIKE THE, WHAT'S A DIFFERENT VERSION OF THE, THE RESPONSIBILITIES START THAT I TYPED OUT, UM, THAT THIS WAS FROM THE 2010 AND I PUT IT IN HERE, NOT FOR AN ACTION ITEM RIGHT NOW, BUT I PUT IT IN HERE SO THAT YOU CAN, UH, DIGEST IT AND SEE IF THERE'S ANYTHING THAT YOU MAY, UH, MAY COME UP THAT YOU WANNA CHANGE.

I THINK JUST TO PUT ON YOUR RADAR MEETINGS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC THAT SAYS THAT WE MEET ON, TECHNICALLY SAY, BUT WE'RE MEETING QUARTERLY.

YEAH.

SO THAT, THAT'S WHAT I NEED.

WE DON'T HAVE A SECRETARY CURRENTLY.

WE HAVE A CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR.

RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT.

THAT'S A WORK SESSION.

YEAH.

THANK YOU FOR FINDING THAT.

GO.

I'M JUST .

WELL THAT DOESN'T, YOU'RE NOT THE JURY'S LOUD ALL.

UM, SO SESSION.

OKAY.

AND THEN SELECTION OF DATES FOR FISCAL SCHOOL YEAR TEENTH.

OKAY.

THE QUESTION I HAVE IS THAT VACCINE ORDINANCE, IT SAYS THAT WE MEET ON THE FIRST SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH.

DO WE HAVE TO REVERT TO CHOOSING WEDNESDAY? NO.

OKAY.

RIGHT.

SO WHAT I, ONCE I GET EVERYBODY'S FEEDBACK THEN I THINK THIS IS ONE OF THOSE ONE FAIL.

SO WE KNOW THE FRONT OF CITY COUNCIL CAN SAY, CAN WE UPDATE THE ORDINANCE TO SAY AND THEN IT'S PROBABLY SOMETHING WE'LL HAVE TO SIGN.

OKAY.

I THINK THE TERM ALSO BECAUSE THEY THINK THAT, YEAH, NOTICED THAT.

YEAH.

IT'S JANUARY 1ST, FIRST.

SO I THINK CURRENTLY WE'RE MEETING QUARTERLY.

IT'S GENERALLY THE FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH.

IS THAT CORRECT? OKAY.

SO, UM, GUESS THE FIRST QUESTION IS, ARE WE STILL GOOD WITH MONDAYS CURRENTLY? OKAY.

AND THEN KRISTEN, I WILL LET YOU DIRECT WHAT MONTH WE MEET.

FEBRUARY.

THE CHECK DATE.

IT'S BEEN A LONG DAY.

OKAY.

UM, 30.

THANK YOU.

ALSO, WE CAN CHANGE THAT IF WE NEED TO.

I'M OKAY, BUT YOU WANT KITCHEN.

WELCOME.

SO I DON'T, DO YOU KNOW WHAT SPRING BREAK IS? JAMES? THAT'S YEAH.

SORRY.

JUST YEAH.

SO DOES ANYBODY, SO IF WE WERE TO STICK TO THE FIRST MONDAY AND MAY, MAY 5TH, DOES ANYONE WANT TO CHANGE IT OR ARE WE ALL GOOD TO MEET THAT DAY? OKAY.

AND THAT'S MAY 5TH.

IT'S GONNA, YOU WANNA CHANGE IT? I JUST MAKE SURE I DON'T, YOU CAN HELP ME SET THE AGENDA.

THE LAST .

YEAH.

SO AUGUST 4TH WOULD BE THE NEXT ONE.

ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT? MOST PEOPLE WOULD PROBABLY BE BACK IN TOWN 'CAUSE WE'LL LIKELY START NEXT WEEK OPENING PROBABLY NOVEMBER 3RD.

OKAY.

SO JUST TO RECAP, UM, FEBRUARY 3RD,

[01:40:02]

MAY 5TH, AUGUST 4TH AND NOVEMBER 3RD.

AND I'LL SEND OUT UM, ELECTRONIC ADVICE AS WELL.

OKAY.

THANK YOU FOR DOING THAT, JEN'S COURTESY TO MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN MAKE A QUORUM IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU'RE GONNA BE OUT, IF YOU COULD JUST LET KRISTEN KNOW SO THAT SHE CAN COORDINATE.

YEAH.

NOW WE HAVE A FULL BOARD AGAIN, SO IF MICHAEL ISN'T A PROBLEM, BUT JUST IN CASE.

OKAY.

I'M GONNA HAVE JUST A COUPLE MINUTES AND I JUST WONDER IF WE HAVE WHAT I OWE TO YOU GUYS, SO ONLY ACCOUNT BIT YOU.
