ALL I WANTED TO MENTION TODAY IS BASICALLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT AFFECTS PRETTY MUCH ALL OF OLD TOWN. I WALK MY CHILDREN'S DOGS REGULARLY. AS OF LATE, THERE'S BEEN A COUPLE OF NEAR MISSES WHERE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN DRIVING WAY TOO FAST ON THE STREETS IN OLD TOWN, NOT NECESSARILY JUST LIVE OAK, BUT E STREET, FARLEY, DIFFERENT AREAS. AND IT'S GETTING PRETTY DANGEROUS. I MEAN, I LITERALLY ONE TIME -- I HAD TO STEP INTO THE DITCHES WITH THE DOGS TO KEEP FROM BEING HIT.
AND I THINK PEOPLE, PEDESTRIANS, PETS, CHILDREN NEED TO COME FIRST IN REGARD TO SOME OF THOSE THINGS.
I BELIEVE WE HAVE A 30-MILE-AN- HOUR SPEED LIMIT WITHIN OLD TOWN. AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT WE USED TO HAVE. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S STILL IN EFFECT. BUT IT ABSOLUTELY IS NOT BEING SOMETHING THAT'S MONITORED ON A REGULAR BASIS.
PEOPLE FLY THROUGH OLD TOWN AS A SHORTCUT.

OUR MONTHLY LUNCHEONS ARE CONSISTENTLY AVERAGING MORE THAN 80 ATTENDEES, PROVIDING MEANINGFUL NETWORKING AND, OF COURSE, ACCESS TO TIMELY INFORMATION.
OUR NETWORKING AND COMMUNITY EVENTS ARE DRAWING ANYWHERE OVER FROM 80 PEOPLE TO OVER 150 PEOPLE PER EVENT WITH PEOPLE COMING NOT ONLY FROM THE CITY OF HUTTO BUT FROM ACROSS THE REGION.
THIS LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION SPEAKS HIGHLY OF HUTTO'S GROWING VISIBILITY AS PLACE TO DO BUSINESS. WE'VE SEEN AN INCREASE IN RIBBON CUTTINGS.
THE RECENT PENSKE AUTOMOTIVE TOYOTA GROUNDBREAKING WHICH HIGHLIGHTS CONTINUED INVESTMENT, JOB CREATION AND LONG- TERM CONFIDENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY. EARLIER THIS MONTH, WE HELD OUR ANNUAL BOARD RETREAT, WHICH WAS A VERY PRODUCTIVE AND ENERGIZING SESSION.
THE RETREAT FOCUSED ON TEAM BUILDING, STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT AND STRENGTHENING COLLABORATION BETWEEN OUR BOARD, STAFF AND MEMBERS.
IT REENFORCED OUR COMMITMENT TO BEING A STRONG ADVOCATE FOR BUSINESS WHILE SUPPORTING THOUGHTFUL, SUSTAINABLE GROWTH WITHIN THE CITY OF HUTTO. IN ADDITION, THE CHAMBER CONTINUES TO ADVOCATE FOR WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS AND EDUCATION, RECOGNIZING THAT A STRONG WORKFORCE PIPELINE IS CRITICAL TO SUPPORTING EXISTING EMPLOYERS AND ATTRACTING NEW ONES. WE REMAIN FOCUSED ON PARTNERING WITH SCHOOLS, INDUSTRY LEADERS AND THE CITY TO HELP ADDRESS WORKFORCE NEEDS AND LONG- TERM DEVELOPMENT. I WANT TO SPEAK ABOUT STAFFING -- CRIME REPORTS, TRAFFIC UPDATE AND STRATEGIC ACTION INITIATIVES TO ADDRESS CONCERNS IN THE COMMUNITY.
WE CURRENTLY HAVE 54 AUTHORIZED POSITIONS IN THE CITY. WE HAVE TWO VACANCIES.
WE HAVE NONE IN FIELD TRAINING. AND CURRENTLY WE HAVE NONE IN BACKGROUND. SO PEOPLE SAY, WHY DON'T YOU HAVE ANY IN BACKGROUND? WE HAVE MANY APPLICANTS. SINCE DOING THAT, THEY HAVE SERVED WITH THE TREE OF ANGELS FOR THE COUNTY IN ASSISTING IN THAT MEMORIAL SERVICE AND ALSO WITH AN OFFICER THAT RECENTLY PASSED IN A PARTNER -- CITY HERE AND THE COUNTY, THEY PROVIDED HONOR GUARD SERVICES AND REPRESENTED OUR DEPARTMENT VERY WELL THERE. SO WE'RE EXCITED TO HAVE THAT NEW ADDITION.

BURGLARY OF A MOTORCYCLE. VEHICLE. WE TALK ABOUT HOW BAD THAT ISSUE HAS BEEN AROUND THE COUNTY LAST YEAR AND CENTRAL TEXAS. OUR STATS GO FROM JANUARY TO OCTOBER BECAUSE WE HADN'T RECEIVED THE NOVEMBER STATS WHEN WE DID THIS. BUT WE'RE DOWN 61% WHEN IT COMES TO BURGLARY OF MOTOR VEHICLES IN OUR COMMENT. BURGLARY OF A BUILDING, HOMES THAT ARE BEING BUILT, WE HAD AN UPTICK OF THOSE LAST YEAR. WE'VE INITIATED SOME STRATEGIES TO REDUCE THAT. I'LL SHOW YOU SOME VERY INTERESTING VIDEO IN A FEW MINUTES.
DWIS ARE UP. DOES THAT MEAN WE HAVE MORE DRUNK DRIVERS? NO.
WE HAVE OFFICERS THAT HAVE FOCUSED ON MAKING SURE THEY IDENTIFY THOSE AND THE ARRESTS AND INTERDICTION FOR DWIS HAS INCREASED. TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS ARE DOWN.
DOES THAT MEAN TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT IS WORKING? YES, PARTLY, BUT WE HAVE A LOT OF VEHICLES COMING THROUGH.
WHEN YOU HAVE OFFICERS VISIBLE, YOU'RE GOING TO FIND THAT PEOPLE WILL MORE LIKELY COMPLY WITH THE LAWS AND THE TRAFFIC RULES. CAD EVENTS. OUR CAD EVENTS ARE DOWN.
DOES THAT MEAN AS A GROWING CITY WE'RE GETTING FEWER CALLS? NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT. PEOPLE GO AFTER HOURS AND STEAL SUPPLIES, LUMBER, APPLIANCES AND THE LIKE. SO OUR OFFICER CAUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND MADE A TRAFFIC STOP AS THE VEHICLE WAS COMING OUT OF ONE OF THE NEIGHBORS LATE THAT NIGHT. IT'S ABOUT A MINUTE.
SO IT'S NOT GOING TO BE VERY LONG.
THE TRAFFIC STOP WASN'T A MINUTE BUT I CUT IT DOWN.
HE MADE THE TRAFFIC STOP AND APPROACHED THAT SWEEK.
AS HE WAS INTERACTING WITH THE DRIVER, YOU'LL SEE SHORTLY SOME OF THE THINGS HE SAW, SOME OF THE ARTIFACTS HE SAW IN THAT VEHICLE. SO AS HE WAS MAKING HIS WAY BACK TO THE VEHICLE, YOU'LL SEE THE DRIVER'S RESPONSE TO BEING STOPPED IN THAT AREA AND WHAT THE OFFICER OBSERVED.

HE TOOK OUR OFFICERS THROUGH THE CITY ON A VERY INTERESTING PATH UNTIL WE GOT WILLIAMSON COUNTY INVOLVED AND OFFICERS CAUGHT HIM ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE OFF ROAD.
HE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. AT THAT POINT HE WAS SURROUNDED AND TAKEN INTO CUSTODY.
THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY OUR BURGLARIES OF A BUILDING ARE NOT AS HIGH AS THEY ARE BECAUSE OUR OFFICERS HAVE TAKEN A STRATEGIC APPROACH TO GOING INTO THOSE AREAS AND MAKING SURE THEY'RE PROVIDES ING PROVIDESING OVERWATCH. TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS ARE DOWN.
THEIR VEHICLES ARE VISIBLE AND THAT IS A NATURAL DETERRENT TO TRAFFIC ISSUES. TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS ARE DOWNDOWN OUR CALL VOLUME IS UP SO WE'RE NOT ABLE TO BE AS PROACTIVE AS WE WANT. WHEN TRAFFIC STOPS ARE DOWN, OF COURSE YOUR CITATIONS AND WARNINGS ARE GOING TO BE DOWN.

THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE WAS CREATED ON JULY 18TH, 2024. IT CONTESTS OF 20 MEMBERS, TEN FROM EXISTING BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS.
THOSE ARE LISTED THERE. TWO FROM EACH OF THOSE BOARDS AND THEN TEN CITIZENS. I MYSELF AMBER LEE COALER, I AM THE CHAIR OF THE COMMITTEE. LEWIS IS ON THE -- SHE'S THE SECRETARY. SHE'S DOING A GREAT JOB.

FOR THE 150TH CELEBRATION WE JUST WANT -- THE COMMITTEE WANTS TO CLARIFY THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF HUTTO AND WHEN THE CITY OF HUTTO WAS INCORPORATED. WE ARE CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF OF HUTTO BEING ESTABLISHED BY THE HUTTO STATION BEING CREATED WITH THE RAIL LINE BEING LAID DOWN. SO THAT WAS IN 1876 WHEN THE INTERNATIONAL AND GREAT NORTHERN RAIL LINE COMPLETED A LINE FROM PALESTINE, TEXAS, OUT IN EAST TEXAS TO ROUND ROCK.
AND THEN THE DIFFERENCE IS, IS IN 1911 THE CITY OF HUTTO WAS OFFICIALLY INCORPORATED. WE WILL NOT BE CELEBRATING THAT.
WE ARE CELEBRATING THE COMING OF THE RAILROAD.
SO 1876 IS OUR YEAR. WE HAVE HAD SOME MEETINGS.
SO WE DID HAVE AN ORGANIZATION MEETING IN SEPTEMBER WHERE COUNCIL MEMBER GORDON GATHERED US TO KIND OF GET STARTED. WE'VE HAD MONTHLY MEETINGS SINCE THEN, SO WE'VE HAD FOUR MEETINGS. EVERY MEETING WE DO START WITH ABOUT TEN TO 15 MINUTES OF HUTTO HISTORY.
A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE LEGEND OF THE HIPPO GETTING OFF OF THE TRAIN, BUT WE'RE REALLY DIGGING INTO THE HISTORY OF HUTTO, WHICH I MYSELF AM LEARNING ABOUT, BECAUSE IT'S JUST NOT READILY AVAILABLE BUT WE DO HAVE JOHN STEPHENSON WHICH IS GREAT, SOME MEMBERS OF THE HBC THAT THEY'RE VERY THOROUGH WITH THE HISTORY AND JUST INFORMING THE COMMITTEE ON THE HISTORY OF HUTTO. ARTS AND CULTURE AS WELL TO PROVIDE JUST THAT, YOU KNOW, NEXT LEVEL OF SOMETHING THAT'S MISSING IN HUTTO JUST TO RECOGNIZE THE HISTORY TOO. SO THAT IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON. SO THIS IS HIGH LEVEL RIGHT HERE, BUT THE WORK OF THE 150 TH SO FAR AND THE FOUR MEETINGS THAT WE HAVE HAD WE'VE DECIDED ON A LOGO, THE DATE, VENUE. WE HAVE COLLABORATED WITH OR WERE BEGINNING TO COLLABORATE WITH DHBA AND THE CHAMBER. THEY'VE BEEN GREAT RESOURCES FOR US, LIKE BUSINESSES FOR SPONSORSHIPS IN THE COMMUNITY.
AND WE HAVE MET WITH A COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT HERE AT THE CITY OF HUTTO, BECAUSE THIS IS THE CITY OF HUTTO EVENT. AND SO THAT DEPARTMENT WILL BE -- WE'RE GOING TO GIVE THEM THE CONTENT TO PUBLISH, TO PUT OUT INFORMATION ABOUT THE HISTORY.
AND THE FOOD AND CUISINE SUBCOMMITTEE HAS BEEN WORKING WITH LOCAL FOOD VENDORS AND FOOD TRUCKS TO GET THEM IN THE KNOW ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON.
SO OBVIOUSLY WE'RE GETTING INTO MORE DETAILS NOW THAT WE'VE KIND OF GOTTEN ALL THE GENERAL THINGS DONE. WE'RE WORKING ON COORDINATING ON PUBLIC SAFETY.
OF COURSE, WE WILL MEET WITH HPD AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT.
THEN OUR SUBCOMMITTEES ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON THEIR OWN SUB BUDGETS SO WE CAN COME BACK IN FEBRUARY TO PRESENT THAT TO COUNCIL TO GIVE YOU ALL AN IDEA OF MONETARY NEEDS FOR THE EVENT.

THEY PUT ON SOME WONDERFUL ACTIVITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY. SO I HOPE THE HUTTO COMMUNITY GETS OUT AND IS ABLE TO ENJOY THE TRAIL OF LIGHTS THIS MONTH BEFORE WE SAY GOOD- BYE FOR 2025.
